Tahniah team Bunohan! I am so proud of you guys! Finally a film that has been recognized in other parts of the world, has been acknowledged at home!

Kemenangan Bunohan di Festival Filem Malaysia 25 memang membanggakan. Selama ini jarang sekali aku puas dengan keputusan dengan filem sampah yang mendominasi.

Finally, FFM 25 has offered a fresh start for the local film industry and a promise with quality prevailing over - well.. shit.

Again, proud to have supported Bunohan from the beginning. And a special shout out to the team behind Songlap as well. Good job! Here are the results of FFM 25 - ini belum lagi kira tiga lagi anugerah dirangkul Bunohan pada malam pembukaan FFM 25.

Er... ok so now on to my comments. Nak cakap camna.

Tahniah la pada semua yang menang. Everyone, every film - semua orang work hard kan? SO takde isu 'aku menang, aku keja keras'. Takde gak isu dengki ke, haper ke... sebagai alasan bila orang kritik. So lame.

I mean, immediately aku dengar beberapa orang defensive mode sebut pasal 'ni lah orang Melayu nak dengki etc hasil keja orang sendiri' or 'we worked hard for this' or 'suka tau ada bangsa sampahkan hasil keja orang lain' etc.

Excuse me? Masuk industri di mana hasil keja ko akan dinilai - pe halnya nak camtuh? Stupid, moronic mentality tol bila camtu. Nama nak iktiraf yang TERBAIK?

Kalao da ada yang BUKAN yang terbaik perlu ke.

I have been dissatisfied with nominations dari start. Muallaf, Ice Kacang Puppy Love dapat consolation prize la kiranya ngan Anugerah Khas Juri. Merasalah la kan... tak layak bertanding kononnya sebab not enough content dalam bahasa kebangsaan. Nama FESTIVAL FILEM MALAYSIA. Siapa yang wat filem-filem tuh? Orang asing ke? Does it make those two films any less Malaysian - sedangkan filem-filem tu gak angkat nama Malaysia at an international level?

I think Shamsul and Lisa are very talented, but I think it's not their time yet. There were more people yang lom recognized yet.

Magika as Best Film? Interesting... but no valid reason. Kenapa? Sebab fantasi yang promosi watak mitos/fiksyen local? Sebab CGI? Oh well... lantak la.

Camni je la. Aku tak suka dunia seni baik filem atau muzik, dipolitikkan. Dan aku tak suka kalao this ends up being JUST a business. Mana penghargaan nilai estitika hasil seni?

Ok... da la meroyan bab tuh. Letih. Sepanjang malam, and the last two weeks memacam da dengar dan bertukar dari mulot ke mulot. FFM SUCKS. Period.

About the event itself - ni pemerhatian aku sendiri, dan juga kompilasi complaints dari artis dan orang industri sendiri. Sapa nak terasa ke haper ke, stop being a defensive idiot. Nak wat better kan? Learn from your mistakes. And you can only learn when you admit the mistakes.

*Majlis penuh dengan orang entah siapa pon, tak kenal. Kata ni ibarat Raya orang filem. Tapi kenapa ramai jemputan nan hado? Datang lak cam kereta berhias lak...bad fitting suits and cheap, skanky dresses.

*Nampaknya 'silent boycott' menjadi. Tak ramai artis nama top meletop muncul including nominees. Yang mai KEBANYAKKANNYA either penyampai, or artis suam-suam kuku je nak promosi diri.

*SACC sungguh tak glam dan tak sesuai nak feeling jadi home pada majlis yang konon prestij. Kecik dan semak ala Kompleks PKNS.

*Dah la venue kecik, tak bagi orang masuk dewan kena berlegar kat luar, sampai tiap rongga SACC diisi pelok sakan sekor-sekor.

*Red carpet glamour trafik jam sebab jalan pendek nak penoh berapa interview, pentas bagai. Last-last, stop sana stop sini, red carpet lom abih, majlis da start mengakibatkan artis ada yang sangkut luar kena jeling masuk lambat.

*Hezrey tu menyemak. Ngan rambut pacak senget penuh glitter, merapu je staff RTM ni. Sharifah Shahira dan Zizan meletop tapi dicacatkan oleh penyertaan sekor tuh.

*Opening Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa. Motif promosi filem KRU akan kuar? Apa relevance? Tarian tu not our culture ke haper pon as it's a work of fiction. Unless ada something I missed and Merong tuh dance musical yang nak diketengahkan.

*Performance semua haus! Shamsul as a rapper? Really? Nyemak je dia dan ensemble dia. Radhi lak tenggelam.

*Performance best - Angkatan Pemuda Indie atau API (AJ - Popshuvit, Lan - Azlan & The Typewriter, MonoLoque, Jipie - Pesawat, Greg Henderson, Din - Estranged) paling meletop. Appallam pun best. Dayang dan Lan ok la. Lain - erm.. production RTM typical.

*Penyampai trofi semua - entah asal usual planet mana. Up sikit dari penyampai trofi puteri bunian kat pre-awards jek.

*Pas abih event konon ada post party. Hado? Makan-makan kat luar lobby jek.

*Press conference takde. Juri semua ilang dan tidak dapat dikesan media tuk ditanya soalan.

*Sekuriti tak dibayar overtime kot semua pon sama ilang. Orang luar semua masuk, kesian artis da la berasak makan minom sparuh mati pas event hado... kena layan peminat.

*Dalam kesempitan SACC dan keadaan kelam kabut, cam pasar malam da. Kesian yang feeling pakai kain panjang kena pijak bagai.

*Ramai artis dan berangan artis tak tahan keadaan lantas angkat kaki berkompol mamak-mamak. Glamer sungguh mamak Shah Alam malam tadi.

Ni bukti post part hado.

Aku pon ciao ngan kengkawan nak makan dan wat post mortem. Kesian ada kawan sorang ni. Asik wat keja, tak sempat melantak dalam huru hara, sampai kena nasi ayam banyak ni nak isi tangki.

Alam dan manusia

Ok... where do I start this entry. Mesti ada yang marah pas baca ni. So let me start with something silly. Tadik lepak kat Q Bistro ngan kengkawan. Yang kat Curve dan Tesco tuh.

Azab tak?

Matilah ko! Internet cafe skang pon da caj RM2 tuk sejam, ni baru nak pakai letrik je camtuh. Gila ke haper.

Anyway, tadi gi pelancaran Festival Filem Malaysia 23 (FFM).

Hah.. tu da nak undang pelbagai carotan. Sapa follow Twitter aku tau, aku memang tak stuju banyak benda pasal kali ni. Mana taknya. Organization hampeh - ramai sangat complain, termasuk anak-anak seni yang sendiri dipinggirkan dalam apa yang sepatutnya majlis meraikan hasil keja mereka.

Mualaf leh tak capai walao sat pencalonan pon, tapi filem cam Pulau Asmara? Matilah ko again gituh.

Ok.. tolak tepi soal tu. Sebenarnya tak kuasa nak gi, tapi pergi sebab ni jek.

Yer.. filem 2 Alam yang dikompangkan akan mengaut RM40 juta. Katanya... walaupun... takpe. Aku cuba objektif dalam menilai pas tengok.

Tengah makan layan akak Ziana yang baru sampai.

And it was on to the show. Pelancaran FFM 23 dan pengumuman beberapa pemenang dulu pra-malam Kemuncak.

And here's where all the problems begin.

Persembahan artis - kenapa pembukaan ngan Zehra Zambri? Very Citrawarna versi takde bajet. Selain tu, mic Hafiz masa nak perform technical issue, and yang pentingnya semua lagu yang dipersembahkan aku tak nampak relevance to the event.

The nominations memang aku ada problem sikit. Magika dalam kategori filem komedi? Fazura untuk pelakon pembantu tuk Lagenda Budak Setan dan buka pelakon wanita terbaik dalam Pisau Cukur?

Shamsul dalam pelakon lelaki terbaik?

So many things wrong kan?

Tapi kembali pada majlis.

It was held at Cineleisure, kat e-Curve. Ada ke patut majlis konon prestij, walaopon cuma pra-anugerah, di adakan di shopping mall? Yang sempit lak tuh.

Dah la memang tak eksklusif camtuh, lokasi pon tak kena.

On top of thatm, kelam kabut, bising, dan no traffic control

Soal jemputan? Leh tak Afdlin Shauki dan ramai anak seni tak dijemput - walaopon merupakan past winner yang meletup?

Yang ramai? VVIP dan VIP yang tajuk albumnya - SIAPAKAH?

Ada pihak akan kata - banyak la rungutan ko! Hakikatnya - it's true that there are so many problems with FFM 23, da hilang da any prestige to the awards yang sepatutnya tahap Oscar tuk Malaysia.

Aku dapat senarai juri malam ni. Gila.. lima orang? And mereka yang menentukan terbaik dalam industri kita? Seriously?

Patut lah 'bagus sangat' hasil.

Inilah masaalahnya bila seni dipolitikkan.

And the results? Ni keputusan malam tadi.

Just orang industri tahu - tiap tahun kalao ada pihak yang ada kena mengena dengan penganjuran, ada je keputusan yang menyebelahi pihak tertentu. Takyah la cita. Everyone knows... some things in this business are open secrets.

So for FFM 23? Ni baru pelancaran camni... I shudder to think of Sunday.

Now on to 2 Alam.

Ok. First of all you have to admit mamat Rozmey ni memang genius dua benda.

Dia berjaya nak brandingkan diri dia, biar sut dia yang warna-warni pelangi ala Paddle Pop ke apa, ke rambut dia yang begitu vogue - he has established himself as a brand.

Second bab dia genius - dia berjaya yakinkan orang yang 2 Alam worth watching ngan berangan nya mengatakan leh RM40 juta kat box office.

So... aku bagi can. Aku nak tengok kehebatan 'fenomena dDR' as dia sendiri kata.

Alamak.. siap bagi soundtrack pree katanya masa premiere. Owh yeah... aku masuk premiere 2 Alam, sebab the other movie is Estet dari abang Mamat Khalid. Aku pilih 2 Alam bukan sebab 2 Alam lagik bagus - tapi kerana aku sanggup bayar tuk menonton hasil kerja Mamat Khalid yang terbukti kualiti.

Alamak... ni bagi prepaid card apa lak ni? Branding sakan kaw kaw...

Sebelom pe-pe... kononnya tiket premiere 2 Alam habis, kan?

HADO?!

Panggung 2/3 kosong hawau! Beriya je cakap tiket abih, tiba-tiba tiket bersepah. Tayangan Estet betul-betul penuh sampai takde ruang masuk. 2 Alam cannot even fill the seats masa premiere. Camna tuh? Marketing strategy kata penuh - walaupun? Pastu terus update Facebook konon riuh orang nak tengok - sampai penuh. Propah sungguh demi marketing.

Hasilnya?

Inilah antara filem paling SAMPAH aku pernah tonton in my whole life.

Why?

Segi teknikal - hancus! Visual berterabur, siap ada banyak shot out of focus dan kabur. Editing choppy, sampai menggangu storytelling. Impak dan elemen kejutan meka cuba ketengahkan hado menjadi kerana tu dan juga adunan audio yang level tahap orang psycho keja kan ngan fluctuate sana sini. Hanya beberapa babak cinematography aku leh maapkan, but even then not original.

Segi lakonan - hancus! Lakonan kayu dari kebanyakan cast yang over. Tahap drama RTM 80an. Bayangkan ada satu scene nak rogol... ada ke watak tu gesel anu dia, "Boss aku la dulu boss... air tak tahan naik pala ni... biar lah aku main dulu" or something like that. Apakah???

Storytelling - hancus! No plot development, and no character development. Bayangkan, Aaron Aziz je la aku sanggup tengok - tapi tu pon hanya satu scene je yang meka cuba nak ikat watak dia pada watak si Amy. Apakah? At the end of the day, ko tak rasa pe pe pon bagi any of the characters. No emotion.

So many things wrong it will take forever kalao nak go on.

Bayangka camni je kalao ko nak imagine 2 Alam camna. Bayangkan music video karaoke Audio One yang paling hazab (betol ni.. siap ada scene music video cliche karaoke dalam kolam), campor soft porn 3GP yang censored, dan drama paling hazab ko penah tonton. Itu lah 2 Alam.

At the end of the day - Rozmey may be a good businessman, but dia bukan anak seni dan dia harus akur, produk ini bukan sesuatu yang leh dibanggakan.

2 Alam adalah bahan gelak dunia seni Malaysia. And God help us kalao Rozmey nak pakai duit dia hantar festival bagai. Malu dowh!

Perlu ke filem tunjuk adengan nak kuburkan, pastu scene main, kubur, main, kubur, main, kubur, main.. tu je.

Menggunakan the worst cliches dunia kaum ketiga - bayangkan fokus pada front page Kosmo! yang watak Amy ni sebenarnya asal seorang lelaki. Familiar? Or scene wedding Amy kahwin Mat Salleh di England ala style gereja siap pakai gaun putih yang takde kena mengena jalan cita. Familiar?

All these have made the papers before.

It's one big cliche.

And badly executed at that.

Malu gila! Aku dari gelak sebab kebodohan filem ni jadik marah in the end.

Sumpah ranah aku kenapa orang memperbodohkan industri perfileman negara kita. Memang betol la apa diperkatakan selama ni. In this business, yang ada duit - hado sense of making proper films, dan mereka yang kreatif lak - nak carik modal tuk fund their productions struggle gila.

Hmphhh.. sapa nak gi tengok 2 Alam, gi lah. Aku rasa baik korang derma RM10 lagik baik. Ada gak berkatnya dari mengalakkan kebodohan camni.

Status 2 Alam? Sama pangkat ngan filem filem sampah seperti Misi 1511, Mendam Berahi, Pulau Asmara dan Lembing Awang Pulang Ke Dayang.

Again. SAMPAH!

By the way, I'd rather keep my money and watch banyak lagi filem Afdlin (Misteri Jalan Lama) dan Mamat Khalid (Estet, Kak Limah Pulang Ke Rumah - sekuel Zombi Kampung Pisang) dari layan filem SAMPAH!

Pergi...

Five days short of it being three years ago on 13 August 2006, I was in PWTC.

It was for the Festival Filem Malaysia ke 19.

Malam itu, Gubra menang Filem Terbaik, as well as meraih kemenangan dalam kategori Pelakon Wanita Terbaik (Sharifah Amani), Lakon Layar Terbaik (Yasmin Ahmad) dan Poster Terbaik.

I remember Nani getting in trouble for her, "I sound stupid if I speak in Malay.." acceptance speech.

Malam tu, I remember kak Min was doing the judging for the first BMW Shorties in Sentul (which was the time she started getting to know my sister yang jadi ringleader for that event) and didn't attend, and aku ber SMS ngan dia je pasal kemenangan Gubra, and I remember how proud I was that the film did the impossible to win that night.

I also remember also being upset because FFM snubbed kak Min for Best Director. It was like acknowledging everything good about the film - and yet saying SHE wasn't good enough.

I remember she told me, "It's ok lah, sayang" when she joined us for the post party to celebrate the win with us and her 'family' who put together Gubra.

I remember people within the film fraternity masa post party sibuk berdebat kata bagaimana Gubra tak layak, and another movie lebih layak simply because it had a bigger budget and more cast members, which was the most polite comment they had for Yasmin and Gubra.

I remember nearly smacking at least one 'veteran' for rude remarks made about Yasmin.

I remember Yasmin telling me, "Let's just celebrate.. alhamdullilah.. someone saw Gubra fit for something," and laughed.

So many things I remember.

Five days to three years later from those memories, tonight.... the announcement for Festival Filem Malaysia ke 22 came out and announced kak Min won Best Director - an award that eluded her with Sepet, Gubra and Mukhsin.

She also won Lakon Layar Terbaik for Talentime, Syafie won for Best Supporting Actor and Jac won for Most Promising Actress.

It's six days more to years too late as far as I'm concerned.

Why do our people always celebrate talent when it's too late. Five days to three years too late. What next? A posthumous Datukship?

Yes, I am feeling a little lazy to update today as I just need time to rest. But more importantly, I want to to use this opportunity to get a message to about a thousand of you reading this.

Today is World Aids Day.

I won't go into details, but please, if you don't know what this simple little red ribbon means, please find out.

And for those of you who know, educate another person today.

Much of the topics related are taboo in our society, so please, open up. Don't think someone else akan menghadapinya. Disseminate, not discriminate. Ignorance kills.

Whoever you are, no matter what part of the demographic pie you're in, this affects all of us.

I read a bulletin in my myspace list about someone in my Friends list yang won an award kat Festival Filem Malaysia 21.

So I clicked and I browsed. Erm... the person was familiar cause I did kind of pass her masa the event. Tapi tak perasan. Yeap... orang dalam Friends list tapi tak kenal. Have messaged her since and exchanged some pleasantries..

Apapun, I want to congratulate Sue Anna Joe yang menang for Best Poster untuk hasil kerja dia untuk filem Susuk. Sori ler girl. Ko dalam senarai Friends aku pun aku tak kenal. Hampeh nya aku! Apapon, guys... Susuk da open so go check it out!

From the trailer it looks like it might be a worthy watch... and kalao korang nampak poster yang sesuatuh horrific ni (scary in a creepy and eerie, good kinda horror movie way), think of this lovely woman! (in terms of her work la)

Festival Filem Malaysia 21

I remember last year.. tak silap aku.. aku tak gi Festival Filem Malaysia. But I remember complaining after a few minutes of trying to watch, and then falling asleep masa depan TV. Amik ko. Or was that the year before. Erm.. susah nak ingat sebab every year pun camtuh.

So it was with a little bit of apprehension that I went to Putrajaya Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya for the show tonight.

Masuk dalam Dewan Plenari tuh, meletup! Besao ok dewan tuh. I was impressed with the venue. Nevermind I thought the stage was ciput in comparison.

There was this lingering smell of smoke from the pyros which just hung in the hall. Matilah kalao aku asma da tercekik da. The whole night the smell was there. Matilah kalao yang pakai cantik-cantik tuh berliter perfume pakai pun tetap bau azab tuh lebih kuat. Sapa yang BO tuh suka la sebab leh salahkan the pyros for the stink.

And then the show started.

Erm... aku general statement jer la ek. Most of the shows sucked. The opening was amateurish and kelam kabut even though the idea was there, but execution memang out.

Banyak sangat performance, which somehow takes away from the whole event, that special spotlight on the films contesting. And most of them were unjustified for their slot.

So instead of meraung kesakitan, which I did in the hall - I'll just point out my faves.

Datuk Siti Nurhaliza for one was amazing as usual. Thank goodness for Bob saving the duet with Sahri, walaupun aku impressed sebab Sahri da banyak improve vocal kalao compared to before.

For nostalgia's sake, I like Zahid's Istana Menanti. I loved it and hated it for the same reason. Sebab lagu tu penah jadi lagu tugasan dia masa... tak silap aku minggu kedua, konsert Akademi Fantasia musim kedua.
I loved it cause he did a nice rendition of it, but hated it cause the choice of songs malam tuh, banyak yang over exposed tunes which kita da berkali kali tengok da. Tak perlu ok recycle lagu. Macam la kita ni tak cukup lagu.

Mmm... Riz did pretty ok too for a newcomer, but banyak rungutan gak aku dengar pasal orang kata anugerah malam ni seolah olah konsert Akademi Fantasia lak. And I have to agree. Established performers were far and few. Oh well...

Oh and don't ask me about Stacy's performance or wardrobe sebab aku takleh jawab. No I do not know kalao muzik ke performer patut disalahkan sebab aku takde masa rehearsal. And no, I don't know who picked that outfit for her.

Anyway.. most performers for the night were mediocre.

Which was perhaps the reason, Misha too stood out.

Presenters, hampir semua yang ada patut kena tampar lima kali across the face sebab delivery of their script flat gila - and hosts in Bob Lokman (why is he still there?) and Linda Onn (dengar cita dia ganti Sarimah last minute) were way below par. I mean honestly, thanks to all these people, FFM 21 could have been the miracle cure for any insomniac.

Results lak macam p*nt*t sikit sebab aku rasa ada yang mengarut. Malas nak komen mana satu, but let's just say for Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography were the few categories aku rasa juri either tertidur and main pangkah nama pemenang, or they were simply too weirded out to judge better performances and efforts.

Too bad Faz tak menang, but I didn't pin high hopes, sebab her character in Kayangan was not as strong as her acting. And I did have a feeling Maya Karin would come out tops.

Nasha too obviously tak menang, but she won the best look for the night for sure. Fine detailed work on her dress which was tasteful, yet colourful and elegant while being simpler than most of the outfits that a lot of artists wore malam tadi yang da macam sarkas da.

Merasalah ramai yang pakai samaada cam tak cukup kain, ataupun cam ada sale kat Kamdar jerk, draping merapu sapu lantai. Ada sorang pelakon ni pakai this fugly yellow ball gown. Pastu nak ke tempat duduk dia, kena naik tangga, she carried it so high we could see more than what we wanted to see. Yuck! Puke!

Apart from Nasha's baju, I loved Faz's outfit too. I should, since I followed her to pick it out. The brown contemporary take of the kebaya paired with the kain was Farah Khan @ Aseana.

Sambil ramai berlumba mendedah, she was more appropriately dressed for an awards show, sopan and elegant.

Best moments were far and few - but I remember the only tinge of excitement I felt was when Ruminah Sidek menang - TWICE! I love that woman! She put a smile to my face everytime. And yang pentingnya - orang kampung aku! Matilah aku... tetap bangga ngan orang Klang ok!

Plus points for the night was that Zul Huzaimy menang! Hurrah for abang Zul. He really is one of the more talented actors, and aku memang happy la dia menang.

Also glad Osman Ali picked up Cerita Asal Terbaik untuk Anak Halal.

Also congratulations to abang Mamat Khalid and the cast and crew of Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang for their five trophies that they took home.

By the end of the night - I was left wondering why I didn't just stay home to watch it on TV. That way I could have changed channels or switched it off kalao rasa nak tido. Perhaps that's why that bau ala sulfur meets carbon monoxide smokey thingie was for - to make sure none of us fell asleep. Matilah konsep smelling salts.

I didn't take many pics sebab malas sebenarnya since most of the time aku mingle the music community, and have little opportunity nak campor ngan komuniti film and TV. But here are the few I took.

Perhaps the best part for the night was a talk I had. Can't say much. But kalao ada rezeki, aku mungkin akan berlakon ujung tahun ni for something. Keeping my fingers crossed because it is a role I really want and know I can carry.

Tak minat sangat berlakon - but kalao ada watak besh aku nak juga usaha so I can challenge myself more. Already selama ni aku dok belah mengkritik and evaluate. Bukan senang to create something - and aku nak push myself to keep trying something I haven't done before. Jadik ke tak lain cita. Janji aku cuba, and aku belajar from the proses.

I mean it's pretty pointless to go through life without learning anything kan?

Yawn... really tired. Nak retreat tuk tido da. Joined the makan makan jap, but then headed home to sleep. Skipped the private post party kengkawan kat Heritage Row (thanks for the invite guys.. sorry rasa da kertu tak larat lak).

Karaoke and crap

Went out with my friend Bernard. Ingat nak sambung clubbing cam smalam nak lupakan all the bull I'm going through. Tapi dalam perjalanan nak lepak kat Bangsar ngan dia sebelom we make our way to the dancefloor, dapat panggilan dari kawan.

Katanya ada pertandingan karaoke, nak kita jadik judge. Selepas dua tiga kali dia call, tak sampai hati nak say no, so iyakan jer lah kan.

Rushed, and sampai just as they were starting.

Now generally I hate karaoke competitions.

Now I know why.

It was BORING! Bad choice of songs, worse singing and even more dreaful dressing.
Pertandingan ni kat Uptown Danau Kota, and I was surprised that there was like over twenty contestants in the final.

Layan...

Erm... realised a few things. Tatau ler aku imagine ker haper.

But jahat gak bebudak jaga snoke machine ni ek.

Everytime ada peserta yang erm... kurang elok naik stage, mesti dapat effect smoke machine.

Mula mula ingat gimik.. lama lama cam carutan lak.

Cam nak cover muka peserta lak. Heh..."you've been smoked!!!"

Smokescreen takyah tengok muka kot.

Jahat kan!!!

Anyway... the competition took almost four and a half hours. And I think I've now gone deaf.

Daripada ramai ramai tuh, I think only two were decent... not even good.

Oh well...lap telinga yang da berdarah abih ni jap ek.

In the end, among the top three, ada lak dak nyanyi sumbang nak mampos ni. Erm.. malas nak cakap apa, tapi rasanya ada pihak yang 'untung' malam semalam pas competition. Oops... geli lak aku nak judge kan competition nak selit orang yang di menangkan.

And it wasn't too different from another competition going on at the same time.

So much for Ke Arah Kecemerlangan Filem Malaysia.. Cinta won Best Film, which I don't really mind.

But Shuhaimi Baba again for Best Director? You've got to be joking! For that piece of crap called

Waris Jari Hantu? Let's face it, they'll never let Yasmin Ahmad win. PERIOD!

Strange kan how our talents are celebrated by the world, and yet, back home, reality is so much more different.

Best original story? Waris Jari Hantu? Come on!

Sheesh... dah la nomination ngarut 13 in total. Tak kena tol.

Whatever. Mukhsin nak overlook sangat... lantak la. Kalau baru ni Mukhsin leh menang silver award kat NETPAC Festiva at Jogjakarta... FFM nampaknya tak lama lagik obsolete la.

Wat syok sendiri stakat nak puji effort yang takde pembaharuan atau revolutionary at all. As good as a two bit karaoke competition at the end of the day. Only difference is, at least that competition takde la result ngarut AND televise for Malaysia to see.

Local Oscars konon... cam kesial...

The world recognises us in our talents, and we? Our own industry recognises mediocre standard movies, whcih are equivalent to made for TV shite.

Pecemar budaya?? Opah ko!

Ok... after all the photos for the last entry yang long overdue, ni posting terbaru. Aku type sekali je, malas nak spell check ke haper, because I want to write the many thoughts that pour out as fast as I can so as not to lose the flow of what I'm thinking.

Sebelum apa-apa, I want to wish Yasmin Ahmad, and team Gubra for their win at the Festival Filem Malaysia ke-19. Mai kita celebrate sikit dulu ek...

Then there's also congratulations to Nani sebab menang the Best Actress award. You deserve it gurl! Formally, tahniah ler sebab Gubra berjaya bring home trophies for Best Poster, Best Screenplay and also... no surprises here... Best Film!

Aku bengang sikit terlepas editing dan lighting because I thought Gubra technically was quite a superior film, even in those aspects... tapi nak cakap apa kan... jury decide.

Tapi aku paling sakit hati, Yasmin tak dapat Best Director. Aku sakit telinga lak bila dengar ada ler film fraternity bitching about how Gubra tak patut menang etc. Perhal laa orang kita ni. Filem camtuh orang leh appreciate, korang nak kutuk teman seperjuangan dan hasilnya.

Camna nak maju lak? Asik nak harap filem cintan... konon aksi lasak tak menjadi... big names je... grow up!
Not everyone wants to see a popcorn movie that is going to be a second rated effort.

But I think FFM terlampau sangat snub Yasmin. Dua tahun berturut-turut filem dia memenangi Best Picture, tapi Best Director. Kali ni pada Shuhaimi Baba for Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam 2 (the most overrated movie di Malaya). Ada ler sorang ni tengah komen kat wartawan kata, "Shumi layak menang because tak senang nak handle cast lebih seratus orang, and on such a big budget production too!"

Hah?

Politics... it's there is every facet of Malaysian art, and I think it simply sucks. Apapun, Yasmin was so cool about it bila aku meroyan tak puas ati (aku lak lebih).

Even during the event, masa dia tengah judging the short films competition (betul kan kak Min? In Sentul?), berbalas SMS ngan dia, aku lak emo lebih sebab nak Gubra menang... dia lak maintain je...ihik)

Post party, dok ngan dia bual sana sini celah dia di interview pelbagai. I look at Yasmin very differently each time I meet her, because each time, I find something beautiful about her character and personality.Kalao korang nak tau vision dia, then hop over to her blog... just CLICK HERE!.

Selain daripada Nani, I also have to congatulate another blogger and a friend, sebab menang kat FFM 19. Sapa lagik kalau bukan Afdlin Shauki kan?

Afdlin won Best Actor... jangan lupa Baik Punya Cilok got Best Story. Buli Balik won Hans Best Supporting Actor. Kira Afdlin too had a good night ler.

So here's my tribute to you, dude (pic ngan Nani sebab dia comel sangat, I just want her posted all over my blog)

Moving on.Well, not really... just a little bit about Nani. Ramai bengang sebab speech dia, termasuk erm... well... important people.

For me... all I can say is.. grow up la people. Apa dia cakap tuh yang salah sangat.

"I sound stupid if I speak in Malay".

Is that the offensive statement? Well, first of all, try risik background Leya dan Nani and the family. Mereka ni 100% Melayu ke? Get the answer then come back and bitch if you have to.

She just meant, yang dia tak selesa nak berbahasa Melayu dalam thank you speech dia... kalao tak melalut kang, and time tu kan da warning pendekkan acceptance speech. At such an important moment, wouldn't you make sure you said what you need to say just right kan?

Or was it the statement kalao camni filem pencemar budaya, let's do it more?

That was a sarcastic remark by Nani towards critics who labeled Gubra as just that. Ingat tak serangan masa time Fenomena Seni, program haprak tuh?

I think it was a snide remark at the shallow idiots who judge Gubra sebagai pecemar budaya and I salute Nani for that statement.

Big up to Nani!!!

One thing crossed my mind time dia cakap tuh. Teringat time orang kutuk kata Gubra ni pencemar budaya. Well, Gubra is one of the most realistic potrayal of multi-religious, multi-cultural Malaysia. And when seseorang leh beranggapan, melihat budaya orang, bangsa, lain, interwoven with others to tell a story, which is not too different from reality around us, is that cultural pollution?

Please lah...shallow! Baik ko kata Remp-It ke Castello lagik pencemar budaya. How about Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam? I don't see too many white-garbed scary bitches (except a couple of horribly dressed tarts masa FFM) bouncing around... do you? Promotion of such wayward beliefs tak lak di judged. Sheesh.

If what I say sounds extreme, it's simply because of the anger I feel when people try and say that their voice represents a view that is righteous, or majority.

At the end of the bloody day, it's just freaking entertainment - so lay off.

Ok... now that I'm done with that little bit of ranting, sambung balik cita from the start (I'll get back to FFM in a while).

So actually, last Tuesday night, singgah ler pas keja kat Astro nak drop by Muzik@Ria tuk set bebudak finalist. Biasa je sebenarnya... nak siapkan interview sebab ada sorang lagi lum settle. Biasalah, time bebudak Akademi Fantasia ni popular, glamer, ramai nak kerumun.

I prefer to be laid back je. Lantak ler orang lain nak wat per (biasa ler excitement of the moment tak penah dapat peluang, ada yang tak paham terus professionalism kan?)
So we arrived late... Juan ikut sekali.

Kami dari Maestro actually sebab ada urusan... time tu keluarga Maestro Records dan pun beransur pulang, tapi sebab Ady Maestro ada, kami lepak sekali.

Of course Marsha and Felix were there too, so sempat catch up ler and ngumpat pasal AF4....

Meka baru abih shooting time tu, pas meka had dinner, kena rush lak sebab Felix ada lak benda kat RTM.

We sampai Astro...hung outside the studio, until midway then entered. Mak ai.... mana fan club lain? Nampak the studio audience ni kelab peminat Farhan dan Haziq je?

Eh eh... ada geng blog readers dari blog aku pun ada (you know who you are ... especially you Dora!)

Kita lepak ngumpat je disebalik kamera, sebab sibuk carut mamat 'Awie'. Alah...mamat yang selalu ada je kat Muzik @ Ria. You know, that idiot in a goatee yang selalu gila glam nak enter frame je.

Well, memula aku tak perasan dia. Aku dok ngan Wan dari Maestro dan berbisik pasal urusan kerja sikit. Pastu, aku terperasan lak mamat dok sebelah Wan ni cam familiar.

Last-last aku realise mamat tuh. Aku tatau ler dia lambat ke, kena ban ke, tapi meka tak bagik dia dok depan seperti biasa (thank God!)

Sampai abih.... member pun tension je ler tak senang duduk! Tambah agik, tetiba tuk minggu tu, dia siap pakai suit pelbagai. Konon stylo Milo ler. Nak gelak aku rasa....tahan je.

Last-last, bila credits nak roll, si Farhan nyanyi, dia mintak izin nak masuk nari sekali, kena halang bebudak set. Nak gelak aku. Aiyo!!! Very the thick skin! Dia ni tak sedau ke orang carut dia?

Rupanya memang dia jenis tak sedar pun. Sebab selepas habis, one of his friends who was in the audience dok layan rintihan dia.

Ni sedutan dialog apa yang disembangkan... aku tangkap sebab dok sebelah dia tanpa Wan ada, gi jaga bebudak dari kena serbu.

'Awie' - "Meka tak bagi aku masuk...apalah"
Kawan - "Alah...tengok lah baju ko. Mana taknya. Ko ni..."
'Awie' - "Kenapa lak??!!!"
Kawan - "Yerlah... malu je ko pakai camtuh!" (dalam nada lebih lembut, kawan tu bisik "Over")
'Awie' - "Apa lak?!!! (suara tak puas hati) Ok apa! Aku pakai sebab istimewa aku nak wat surprise!"

Mak ai...mamat ni feeling selebriti rupanya. Merasa sell-a-burit!!!! Seriously... weirdos like this still exist??!!!

Sabau jer lah.

Pas da layan peminat semua (aku malas nak dekat... biau bebudak tegur aku... kang ada fanatik lak kata aku gedik nak layan star kan?), bebudak tu di bawa keluar oleh Wan.

Yang tegur aku first, Farhan. Then Velvet, Faizal, Haziq and Lotter.

Lotter nampak letih. Time tunggu Wan, aku, dia, Velvet dan Farhan as well as Juan sempat catch up.

Aku banyak layan Velvet dan Farhan sebab aku rasa comfortable with them. And when Farhan gerak sebab uncle dia jemput bila aku da abih interview, aku layan Velvet. Slowly (masa tu Lotter pun da gerak), tinggal Velvet, Faizal dan Haziq je.

Faizal buka mulut tetiba mintak nombor, so aku pun bagi lah. Jangan lak ada yang kata aku meminta. Sekali ngan Haziq and Velvet.

So, just FYI - I never asked for anyone's number (gelak evil sat).

Time nak jalan kuar, Juan layan sok sek ngan Haziq, Wan ngan Velvet, so Faizal peluk aku and sembang as we walked to the car.

Ok ler... dia banyak cita tuh ni...

Fast forward, Wednesday, I realised I was feeling funny. Terus tak jadi masuk keja. Thursday lak teruk sikit, selsema, ngan mata berair, ngan demam sikit-sikit.

Tapi ada ler penawar bila tiba-tiba seorang finalist call aku pukul 1.32am. Merasalah statement!!!

Matilah Fiebie menjadi saksi kerana masa tuh lepak ramai-ramai.

La la la... no comment!!!!

Thursday night, ada Media Appreciate Nite tuk Akademi Fantasia 4.

Aku sebab tak sihat agi, mula-mula ingat tanak gi.

Last-last, sebab dendam kesumat (merasalah competition!) terus hadirkan diri. Gi with Juan, Fiebie as well as Wanie and Fahmee.

The result?

Aku dapat first place. Woohoo!!!

Four days three night, full board at Cherating worth RM1,500! Happy banget!!!

Rudy dari Harian Metro dapat tempat kedua (TV 29 inci) and Juan dapat tempat ketiga di mana hadiahnya, M-Mobile, special edition Mawi (tahan gelak sat).

Dalam tak sihat, spent some time more with Farhan... a little with each and every one of them.

Yerlah...seperti mana da cakap ngan corporate communication department Astro, takyah ler ada pihak luar yang menyibuk time function tuk kami ni.

Tiba-tiba, ada ler penyibuk-penyibuk yang nak hadirkan diri pose muka tak cantik kat sana. Lantak ko ler labu....some people tak malu dan tak sedar taraf kuli nak menyibuk.

Still, it didn't ruin the night, though I have to say, some people were lucky to have escaped having a shoe in their left nostril.

Time competition da over... makan da over... dengar lak sora merdu dari tingkat atas, where ada live band perform. Cam familiar je sora dia. Mula-mula ingat CD, then ingat vocalist house band meletup!.

After three songs ke four songs (tak ingat), aku pun panggil Fiebie and Co to join me upstairs sebab seperti diagak... Farhan tengah nyanyi. She did three more songs and wow-ed everyone.

Pastu Velvet pun volunteer nyanyi. Yes, volunteer is the word, sebab malam tu pas abih evet, gayut ngan Farhan on the phone, I found out it wasn't planned, and no one told her to sing. That's what you call passion!

Dengar malam tu, Diddy pun nak nyanyi, tapi segan. Hish... perlu ke dik oi!
And then Haziq pun ada bisik ngan aku, "Nak nyanyi pun lah.... tapi ada ke lagu-lagu tuk aku".
Mmmm... good observation. Kesian lak.... aku hanya mampu balas, kalau nak, gi tanya house band, apa repertoire meka, mana tau... kan?

An hour or two more...with swollen feet, our group of five waved, hugged and kissed goodbye to everyone and mde a move for supper.

The next night we had another 'party'. Pementasan Suzie Wong ler katanya....(tahniah Wanie sebab menang acara marathon 12 jam!) Aiyo... sampai siang semua berjaga! Party kaw kaw punya ngan gelak dari malam sampai siang.

Saturday a slight bore as followed Vernon, abang Badrul and Nikki yang judging a karaoke competition which was horrible beynd belief. Oh well...namanya pun karaoke da.

Lepak like normal, then next day FFM, aku sampai pun da 8.20pm kat PWTC. Got a place along with some editors and watched half the show sebelum tak larat (takut tertidur) moved in and out for a smoke non-stop.

I think the event was such a bad job. Lighting and stage design was so RTM.

Skrip pulak busuk!!!! And AC's stupid ad-libs didn't help much. Ada ke time ada Tamil song tuh dia kata, "Lagu Hindu tadi..."

Bangap ke haper mamat ni don't know the difference between religion and language?

Blah blah blah... shows were horrible, with the best being mediocre. Takyah ulas ler. Aku suka tengok Diddy and geng semua kuar, tapi aku rasa bodoh tul seleksi lagu.

Ning was amazing... Faizal was ok considering it was his first major awards show performance, aku rasa dia lum ready.

But awmigawdd... aku kena puji ni. Aku suka Mawi punya performance with the theme song from Persona Non Grata, Hanya Untukmu. But what the hell was Aidil on the piano for?

Aiyak... nampaknya AF3 ni breed yang erm... oh never mind. But it was irritating that he was tinkling on and on without the song beginning because I think he thought it was a solo show.

Sampai ending pun feeling nak solo (geng Sham Kamikaze ler nih).
Belah la.... only on an Astro production, would they allow an AF3 punya non-performer to perform in an indulgent solo attempt.

Malas ulas the show further...korang sendiri nampak kan? Termasuk bab Misha Omar rush dari office tak sempat tukao baju tuk perform Ku Seru kan?

Kalau yang tak dapat nonton sebab it was only on Astro, all I can say is tak rugi korang.

The post party was relaxed, even though everyone seemed to have an invitation. I spent most of the time with Yasmin, Zahid, Faizal... sapa agik ek... selain kengkawan sendiri... mmm... Alam (my former boss, though lepak only mencarut sebelum balik)... Pierre Andre (he's the sweetest guy around).

Lain cam ngumpat light-light je. Seronok lagi dok diam-diam tengah layan ngumpat sapa pakai apa (which was mostly horrendous repeats from sponsors yang penah bagi baju kat orang lain)

Fast forward... to today.

Banyak keja lagi nak abih... amik time off nak update blog sikit sebelum sambung. Esok nak ke sesi beramah mesra with Siti and Datuk K.

Well... kalao dapat jemputan esok gak, aku scan letak sini ek? Jangan korang scan wat kad sendiri da (mati laaa Fiebie punya idea - this type usually dia punya)

Oh, sebelum mengundur, ni ada berita menarik bagi meka yang dalam Aiman FC.

Dapat call earlier today (aku second kan that you called? - bangga nih!) from abang Badrul yang ceritakan yang iklan 'Aiman Tak Kisah' starring Aiman, hasil keja abang Badrul (the iklan... I mean), dapat finalist dalam pertandingan entah haper kat New York!

Merasalah!

Aku pun tumpang bangga hasil kerja cam iklan pesan masyarakat cam 'Aiman Tak Kisah' leh dapat recognition camtuh. Aku tak tanya details competition, sebab tanak nanti kena tunggu balik New York nak cita... so kalao nak tau apa perkembagan, check out abang Badrul punya blog.

Pecemar budaya?? Opah ko!

Ok... after all the photos for the last entry yang long overdue, ni posting terbaru. Aku type sekali je, malas nak spell check ke haper, because I want to write the many thoughts that pour out as fast as I can so as not to lose the flow of what I'm thinking.

Sebelum apa-apa, I want to wish Yasmin Ahmad, and team Gubra for their win at the Festival Filem Malaysia ke-19. Mai kita celebrate sikit dulu ek...

Then there's also congratulations to Nani sebab menang the Best Actress award. You deserve it gurl! Formally, tahniah ler sebab Gubra berjaya bring home trophies for Best Poster, Best Screenplay and also... no surprises here... Best Film!

Aku bengang sikit terlepas editing dan lighting because I thought Gubra technically was quite a superior film, even in those aspects... tapi nak cakap apa kan... jury decide.

Tapi aku paling sakit hati, Yasmin tak dapat Best Director. Aku sakit telinga lak bila dengar ada ler film fraternity bitching about how Gubra tak patut menang etc. Perhal laa orang kita ni. Filem camtuh orang leh appreciate, korang nak kutuk teman seperjuangan dan hasilnya.

Camna nak maju lak? Asik nak harap filem cintan... konon aksi lasak tak menjadi... big names je... grow up!

Not everyone wants to see a popcorn movie that is going to be a second rated effort.

But I think FFM terlampau sangat snub Yasmin. Dua tahun berturut-turut filem dia memenangi Best Picture, tapi Best Director. Kali ni pada Shuhaimi Baba for Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam 2 (the most overrated movie di Malaya). Ada ler sorang ni tengah komen kat wartawan kata,

"Shumi layak menang because tak senang nak handle cast lebih seratus orang, and on such a big budget production too!"

Hah?

Pala hangguk ko!

Politics... it's there is every facet of Malaysian art, and I think it simply sucks. Apapun, Yasmin was so cool about it bila aku meroyan tak puas ati (aku lak lebih).

Even during the event, masa dia tengah judging the short films competition (betul kan kak Min? In Sentul?), berbalas SMS ngan dia, aku lak emo lebih sebab nak Gubra menang... dia lak maintain je...ihik)

Post party, dok ngan dia bual sana sini celah dia di interview pelbagai. I look at Yasmin very differently each time I meet her, because each time, I find something beautiful about her character and personality.Kalao korang nak tau vision dia, then hop over to her blog... just CLICK HERE!.

Selain daripada Nani, I also have to congatulate another blogger and a friend, sebab menang kat FFM 19. Sapa lagik kalau bukan Afdlin Shauki kan?

Afdlin won Best Actor... jangan lupa Baik Punya Cilok got Best Story. Buli Balik won Hans Best Supporting Actor. Kira Afdlin too had a good night ler.

Moving on.Well, not really... just a little bit about Nani. Ramai bengang sebab speech dia, termasuk erm... well... important people.

For me... all I can say is.. grow up la people. Apa dia cakap tuh yang salah sangat.
"I sound stupid if I speak in Malay".

Is that the offensive statement? Well, first of all, try risik background Leya dan Nani and the family. Mereka ni 100% Melayu ke? Get the answer then come back and bitch if you have to.

She just meant, yang dia tak selesa nak berbahasa Melayu dalam thank you speech dia... kalao tak melalut kang, and time tu kan da warning pendekkan acceptance speech. At such an important moment, wouldn't you make sure you said what you need to say just right kan?

Or was it the statement kalao camni filem pencemar budaya, let's do it more?

That was a sarcastic remark by Nani towards critics who labeled Gubra as just that. Ingat tak serangan masa time Fenomena Seni, program haprak tuh?

I think it was a snide remark at the shallow idiots who judge Gubra sebagai pecemar budaya and I salute Nani for that statement.

Big up to Nani!!!

One thing crossed my mind time dia cakap tuh. Teringat time orang kutuk kata Gubra ni pencemar budaya. Well, Gubra is one of the most realistic potrayal of multi-religious, multi-cultural Malaysia. And when seseorang leh beranggapan, melihat budaya orang, bangsa, lain, interwoven with others to tell a story, which is not too different from reality around us, is that cultural pollution?

Please lah...shallow! Baik ko kata Remp-It ke Castello lagik pencemar budaya. How about Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam? I don't see too many white-garbed scary bitches (except a couple of horribly dressed tarts masa FFM) bouncing around... do you? Promotion of such wayward beliefs tak lak di judged. Sheesh.

If what I say sounds extreme, it's simply because of the anger I feel when people try and say that their voice represents a view that is righteous, or majority.

At the end of the bloody day, it's just freaking entertainment - so lay off.

Ok... now that I'm done with that little bit of ranting, sambung balik cita from the start (I'll get back to FFM in a while).

So actually, last Tuesday night, singgah ler pas keja kat Astro nak drop by Muzik@Ria tuk set bebudak finalist. Biasa je sebenarnya... nak siapkan interview sebab ada sorang lagi lum settle. Biasalah, time bebudak Akademi Fantasia ni popular, glamer, ramai nak kerumun.

I prefer to be laid back je. Lantak ler orang lain nak wat per (biasa ler excitement of the moment tak penah dapat peluang, ada yang tak paham terus professionalism kan?)

So we arrived late... Juan ikut sekali.

Kami dari Maestro actually sebab ada urusan... time tu keluarga Maestro Records dan pun beransur pulang, tapi sebab Ady Maestro ada, kami lepak sekali.

Of course Marsha and Felix were there too, so sempat catch up ler and ngumpat pasal AF4....

Meka baru abih shooting time tu, pas meka had dinner, kena rush lak sebab Felix ada lak benda kat RTM.

We sampai Astro...hung outside the studio, until midway then entered. Mak ai.... mana fan club lain? Nampak the studio audience ni kelab peminat Farhan dan Haziq je?

Eh eh... ada geng blog readers dari blog aku pun ada (you know who you are ... especially you Dora!)

Kita lepak ngumpat je disebalik kamera, sebab sibuk carut mamat 'Awie'. Alah...mamat yang selalu ada je kat Muzik @ Ria. You know, that idiot in a goatee yang selalu gila glam nak enter frame je.

Well, memula aku tak perasan dia. Aku dok ngan Wan dari Maestro dan berbisik pasal urusan kerja sikit. Pastu, aku terperasan lak mamat dok sebelah Wan ni cam familiar.

Last-last aku realise mamat tuh. Aku tatau ler dia lambat ke, kena ban ke, tapi meka tak bagik dia dok depan seperti biasa (thank God!)

Sampai abih.... member pun tension je ler tak senang duduk! Tambah agik, tetiba tuk minggu tu, dia siap pakai suit pelbagai. Konon stylo Milo ler. Nak gelak aku rasa....tahan je.

Last-last, bila credits nak roll, si Farhan nyanyi, dia mintak izin nak masuk nari sekali, kena halang bebudak set. Nak gelak aku. Aiyo!!! Very the thick skin! Dia ni tak sedau ke orang carut dia?

Rupanya memang dia jenis tak sedar pun. Sebab selepas habis, one of his friends who was in the audience dok layan rintihan dia.

Ni sedutan dialog apa yang disembangkan... aku tangkap sebab dok sebelah dia tanpa Wan ada, gi jaga bebudak dari kena serbu.

'Awie' - "Meka tak bagi aku masuk...apalah"
Kawan - "Alah...tengok lah baju ko. Mana taknya. Ko ni..."
'Awie' - "Kenapa lak??!!!"
Kawan - "Yerlah... malu je ko pakai camtuh!" (dalam nada lebih lembut, kawan tu bisik "Over")
'Awie' - "Apa lak?!!! (suara tak puas hati) Ok apa! Aku pakai sebab istimewa aku nak wat surprise!"

Mak ai...mamat ni feeling selebriti rupanya. Merasa sell-a-burit!!!! Seriously... weirdos like this still exist??!!!
