Day out and part three

Semalam sebenarnya nak edit bagai tapi takde masa. Sebelom masuk Akademi tuk kelas, singgah kat SACC Mall. Lepak ngan Faz dan Jue yang skali ngan Diana hanging out sana, pas she finished recording tuk hostlinks for Anak Wayang, yang jalankan the last of the auditions.



Sambil lepak tuh, Zamarul mai ngan kawan and joined up. Seronok gak. Sempat la snappy pic couple yang akan berumahtangga. Heh... one of the first nak dapat invite. Sayang tak dapat gi sebab clash ngan final Akademi Fantasia nanti.

Nangis la camnih. Aduh... tapi kerja tetap kerja.

Ok lah.. here's the real reason for this posting. Korang nak sangat review aku kan?

Kalao sini semua da ikut blogging so da bosan da. So ngan collaboration with sultanmuzaffar, Juan Danza and Chedd, ni our mini video blogging review of the last concert.

As far as I know, ni kali pertama orang vlog review TV show kat sini . kalao omputeh biasa la. Kalao sini tak lak orang wat, so kita saja je nak set a first. Setakat suka-suka. Yang pentingnya hope you guys enjoy it sebab laptop aku problem, nak wat pun berapa lam sebab ada je masaalah hang. Kalo rasa hazab, matilah korang takyah tengok. Heh!

Kalao ok, next week kita wat lagik but different presentation. Biasalah kali pertama ada je glitches kan. Ni pun record video pakai Nokia aku je (motif promosi cam kena sponsor?)

Despite it all...

Yes, like the title of this entry goes. Walaupon mata masih merah (tapi keadaan aku dari segi lain dah tip top), I managed to make it for the Anugerah Skrin 2008.

Feeling a lot better by noon tadik, I pulled together something (tatau nak pakai apa before settling for my vintage pinstripe DKNY jacket yang tak penah pakai, couple with that ripped monochrome tee and a pair of bootcuts - yes, me celebrating the death of skinnys).

Was at PWTC by 8pm, waiting for Faz and Jue to show up. Met them, along with Maya and Lin shortly in the carpark and naik sekali.

Can I just say this? Someone better put a disclaimer on escalators that long dresses are potential death traps! Or at least key to embarrassing situations sebab the length of those outfits can just cause it to sangkut and setting up for one of those home video show fodder.

Wanita-wanita Pisau Cukur - Faz and Maya (Lin tengok apa tuh?)


Walaupun dapat invitation as guest, not covering the event as media, aku lebih suka dok ngan kengkawan wartawan sebab leh sesama carot.

Have to say though, this year, the stage looked better, despite being a relatively simple set-up.

While the show was quite ok, there were some points that spoilt the night.

For one the fashion. Some people just got it so wrong, from guests, to presenters, to performers, to winners. I won't mention the usual fashion faux pas cause you guys got to see it all on TV. Will mention one though.

Kalao korang perasan Daphne Iking's dress tuh memang singkat, but lagik sakitkan mata was seluar our national asstronaut (oops.. sincere typo there) Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Sheikh Mustapha yang was about four inches too short! How come no one told me the Michael Jacskon look was back in again. Seb baik dia tak pakai stoking putih jer... kalao tak I'd half expect him to start moonwalking.

Ok, so the dude has been in space and probably doesn't know it's so wrong to see someone with that look, but I believe he didn't leave us in the Eighties and just return kan? Maybe it was just a longing in another way to do moonwalking sebab dapat jadik space tourist je sebelom nih pon. AND get a Datuk for it (but then Shah Rukh Khan got one too... so go figure)

Anyway, ever since he became a tourist courtesy of Malaysian taxpayers, and is now charging thousands for 'motivational talks' (so that's the greater good that they were talking about... and how many million was spent?) he can bloody afford to buy a decent wardrobe dari ulang tayang the same damn suit every time he's in public. Honestly!

Sheesh... plus a lot of other ugly outfits malam tuh. Including some silver trash bags passing for dresses, cheap ass wraps that doubled for outfits and so on. The list is endless.

Performances were so-so, but I think the highlight (nak carot tak abih kot) was Faizal Tahir. Adibah Noor was her usual fantastic self, but I think her combination ngan Lah Ahmad tak menjadi. She was struggling to keep her voice in an effort to allow Lah to keep up, which I think was sad because both of them have beautiful voices but were just sadly mismatched. Let's see, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza was also yummy in her performance, though I think the costumes were a little too RTM.

The script was horrible, and I know a lot of people ad-libbed. Even Aznil (congrats bang on another win for your show) and Zulhuzaimy yang orang dok gelak sebab lawak meka sebenarnya main boh je skrip sendiri. Yeap.. it wasn't on the cards ok. But the result... some of the funnier moments as our artistes proved they can come up with better lines than some scriptwriters.

Winners? Mixed bag, so not going to comment, cause it was a little for everyone, which I guess was a good thing. Nak wish congrats to several friends like abang Mamat Khalid, kak Yasmin Ahmad, Gaya and her Tayangan Unggul outfit for their wins. To Osman Ali dan kengkawan lain yang nominated but didn't win, nevermind. Lain kali ek... you guys rocked by even getting the nominations and massively proud of you guys.

Tapi pening ramai tak muncul. Masa Nasha Aziz menang, tension kak Nasha takde, so called up the darling and wished her congratulations. Yeay! Aku first katanya. Nasha kata dia dapat invite only on Tuesday so tak sempat prepare celah kesibukan dia, so tak jadik datang, tapi aku leh dengar that she was watching the live show on TV.

Pas abih on the way out, bumped into wanita cantik sorang ni. Guess who? Kak.. sorry ler camera flash tak cukup terang. Heh.. ampun!

Singgah jap Press Room nak wish congrats to friends for the wins. Kak Min jumped up immediately to hug me! Yes.. yes.. about time woman you won something! I am proud of you! Ko susah susah harumkan nama negara ngan karya ko, and still so many people find it difficult to accept your work closer to home even though you celebrated abroad. Go figure.

By the way, abang Mamat, carut pun aku sokong ko. Heh... aku pegang kata kata ko yang Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang ko wat watak non-Malay tak pelat and all sebab dengar cakap aku. Katanya.. walaupun... huahuahua... royalty mana???? Matilah aku!

And then it was on to the post party aka the makan time. Since got there before most of the crowd, sempat nak down a few bites before everyone poured in the dewan. By then da start cam whoring da.

We then decided to leave. Took us ten minutes or more. Langkah kuar je, Faz kena serbu photographers. So kena la photo session jap. Layan... majoriti kengkawan Press. So no hal. Besides, it was obvious Faz was a favourite malam tuh. And I have to say, I'm thankful she didn't overdo it with a simple Hatta Dolmat dress which was modest, and tak ikut ramai yang konsep tak cukup kain. By the way, Faz insisted on the design on her own ok!



Pas layan Press, layan lak peminat yang stop dia on the way to the carpark. Letih gak... heh. Tapi pompuan ni konsep Energizer Bunny so takpe.

Had a quick meeting with Faz kat Bangsar jap sebab ada benda nak discuss. Adalah. Upcoming project. Lain sikit dari the usual stuff. An hour plus, sent her back home and headed back Bangsar lepak bebudak 6ixth Sense jap.

I completed this entry at about 5am, pas abih layan pics yang leh publish. Tomorrow is sleep day, and pastuh ada some plans nak lepak. Yerlah.. memandangkan da elok demam nih. Yahoo!!!

Susuk sucks!

Siang tadik pagik buta aku da bangun nak hantar my sis ke KLIA. She overnight kat Jakarta, then pastuh next week, she moving to Jakarta. Sedihnya!!!! Nak nangis rasanya. Kita adik beradik berdua je, and she is my inspiration and strength for everything. But tu seminggu lagik. Sigh. And besides I get to visit her too since she going to be there anywhere from a minimum of three months, to a possible six, or maybe longer on attachment there for her Indonesian clients, Pertamina.

Habis je ke airport, rushed back to KL nak singgah Persatuan Akademi Industri Muzik.

By election kat Permatang Pauh, sini lak ada road block? Unrelated? Coincidence? Lousy traffic system? Whatever!

Pakai SmartTag pun berkilometer panjang beratur. Cam lahanat!



Took me ages to get to the Akademi office. Tujuannya nak pick up invite sebab Atie ajak ke launch dance event sponsored by Gatsby. Yang penting, invitation comel sangat ok. Cam buku, tapi bila bukak, amik ko, wax dan cermin. And it's the same moving rubber yang aku pakai. Wat stock ler nih.



Since I go to Akademi like once a year, everytime AIM nak dekat je, so lepak sat kaco Nicole.Also decided to snap a few shots around their office of things that caught my eye. Yerlah... da berapa hari blues, cam diabaikan lak blog aku ni.

Later, joined the beautiful person on that mag cover as well as Juan to watch Susuk. Was more excited to see a movie on the International Screens titled Body, tapi hey... support the local movie industry kan.Faz in High School Musical 3?


My verdict? Don't waste your money.I mean, for Susuk, aku puji director of photography dia. Art direction, camerawork, lighting, and maybe even the effects deserve ler some pujian.

But everything else was utter, self-indulgent crap. I don't believe I wasted RM9 on it! Damn!

Even the acting was inconsistent. Diana Rafar leh dipuji cause she was ok but wonky in some bits. Ida Nerina delivered the goods. Everyone else was forgettable and added to the yawn factor of the movie.

Yes, it gets a little confusing, but worked out what was the story being told. Just didn't like it for more reasons then I should have.

Argh.. need some sleep. Hate how local horror movies end up so cliched and a B grade rip off of Hollywood productions. Let's have more originality please!

Festival Filem Malaysia 21

I remember last year.. tak silap aku.. aku tak gi Festival Filem Malaysia. But I remember complaining after a few minutes of trying to watch, and then falling asleep masa depan TV. Amik ko. Or was that the year before. Erm.. susah nak ingat sebab every year pun camtuh.

So it was with a little bit of apprehension that I went to Putrajaya Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya for the show tonight.
Horror gak kalao teruk kan...

Masuk dalam Dewan Plenari tuh, meletup! Besao ok dewan tuh. I was impressed with the venue. Nevermind I thought the stage was ciput in comparison.

There was this lingering smell of smoke from the pyros which just hung in the hall. Matilah kalao aku asma da tercekik da. The whole night the smell was there. Matilah kalao yang pakai cantik-cantik tuh berliter perfume pakai pun tetap bau azab tuh lebih kuat. Sapa yang BO tuh suka la sebab leh salahkan the pyros for the stink.

And then the show started.

Erm... aku general statement jer la ek. Most of the shows sucked. The opening was amateurish and kelam kabut even though the idea was there, but execution memang out.

Banyak sangat performance, which somehow takes away from the whole event, that special spotlight on the films contesting. And most of them were unjustified for their slot.

So instead of meraung kesakitan, which I did in the hall - I'll just point out my faves.

Datuk Siti Nurhaliza for one was amazing as usual. Thank goodness for Bob saving the duet with Sahri, walaupun aku impressed sebab Sahri da banyak improve vocal kalao compared to before.

For nostalgia's sake, I like Zahid's Istana Menanti. I loved it and hated it for the same reason. Sebab lagu tu penah jadi lagu tugasan dia masa... tak silap aku minggu kedua, konsert Akademi Fantasia musim kedua.
I loved it cause he did a nice rendition of it, but hated it cause the choice of songs malam tuh, banyak yang over exposed tunes which kita da berkali kali tengok da. Tak perlu ok recycle lagu. Macam la kita ni tak cukup lagu.

Mmm... Riz did pretty ok too for a newcomer, but banyak rungutan gak aku dengar pasal orang kata anugerah malam ni seolah olah konsert Akademi Fantasia lak. And I have to agree. Established performers were far and few. Oh well...

Oh and don't ask me about Stacy's performance or wardrobe sebab aku takleh jawab. No I do not know kalao muzik ke performer patut disalahkan sebab aku takde masa rehearsal. And no, I don't know who picked that outfit for her.

Anyway.. most performers for the night were mediocre.

Which was perhaps the reason, Misha too stood out.

Presenters, hampir semua yang ada patut kena tampar lima kali across the face sebab delivery of their script flat gila - and hosts in Bob Lokman (why is he still there?) and Linda Onn (dengar cita dia ganti Sarimah last minute) were way below par. I mean honestly, thanks to all these people, FFM 21 could have been the miracle cure for any insomniac.

Results lak macam p*nt*t sikit sebab aku rasa ada yang mengarut. Malas nak komen mana satu, but let's just say for Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography were the few categories aku rasa juri either tertidur and main pangkah nama pemenang, or they were simply too weirded out to judge better performances and efforts.

Too bad Faz tak menang, but I didn't pin high hopes, sebab her character in Kayangan was not as strong as her acting. And I did have a feeling Maya Karin would come out tops.

Nasha too obviously tak menang, but she won the best look for the night for sure. Fine detailed work on her dress which was tasteful, yet colourful and elegant while being simpler than most of the outfits that a lot of artists wore malam tadi yang da macam sarkas da.

Merasalah ramai yang pakai samaada cam tak cukup kain, ataupun cam ada sale kat Kamdar jerk, draping merapu sapu lantai. Ada sorang pelakon ni pakai this fugly yellow ball gown. Pastu nak ke tempat duduk dia, kena naik tangga, she carried it so high we could see more than what we wanted to see. Yuck! Puke!

Apart from Nasha's baju, I loved Faz's outfit too. I should, since I followed her to pick it out. The brown contemporary take of the kebaya paired with the kain was Farah Khan @ Aseana.

Sambil ramai berlumba mendedah, she was more appropriately dressed for an awards show, sopan and elegant.

Best moments were far and few - but I remember the only tinge of excitement I felt was when Ruminah Sidek menang - TWICE! I love that woman! She put a smile to my face everytime. And yang pentingnya - orang kampung aku! Matilah aku... tetap bangga ngan orang Klang ok!

Plus points for the night was that Zul Huzaimy menang! Hurrah for abang Zul. He really is one of the more talented actors, and aku memang happy la dia menang.

Also glad Osman Ali picked up Cerita Asal Terbaik untuk Anak Halal.

Also congratulations to abang Mamat Khalid and the cast and crew of Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang for their five trophies that they took home.

By the end of the night - I was left wondering why I didn't just stay home to watch it on TV. That way I could have changed channels or switched it off kalao rasa nak tido. Perhaps that's why that bau ala sulfur meets carbon monoxide smokey thingie was for - to make sure none of us fell asleep. Matilah konsep smelling salts.

I didn't take many pics sebab malas sebenarnya since most of the time aku mingle the music community, and have little opportunity nak campor ngan komuniti film and TV. But here are the few I took.

Perhaps the best part for the night was a talk I had. Can't say much. But kalao ada rezeki, aku mungkin akan berlakon ujung tahun ni for something. Keeping my fingers crossed because it is a role I really want and know I can carry.

Tak minat sangat berlakon - but kalao ada watak besh aku nak juga usaha so I can challenge myself more. Already selama ni aku dok belah mengkritik and evaluate. Bukan senang to create something - and aku nak push myself to keep trying something I haven't done before. Jadik ke tak lain cita. Janji aku cuba, and aku belajar from the proses.

I mean it's pretty pointless to go through life without learning anything kan?

Yawn... really tired. Nak retreat tuk tido da. Joined the makan makan jap, but then headed home to sleep. Skipped the private post party kengkawan kat Heritage Row (thanks for the invite guys.. sorry rasa da kertu tak larat lak).

Day 2...Terengganu ditawan!

Semalam started early. Masing masing dari kengkawan media sampai ke geng artis, semua turun ngan mata lebam tak cukup tidur berkumpul nak start beberapa aktiviti tuk event Senyum Sokmo nih.

Aduh...my eyes are just going to be so puffy pasnih...asik lack of sleep je. Pas kumpul, kami bertolak kawasan A&W, tuk jemput beberapa agik artis yang baru sampai.

Kecoh lah...dalam lepak lepak, jadik meet the fans session lak.

Ni some of the pics yang aku amik...malas nak cita sangat sebab kang membosankan lak ngan details.

But the whole day was packed, and among the places we went were Muzium Seni, area Losong (jadik hantu kepok), Equestrian Resort...

Awal pagi berkumpul tapi masing-masing bersemangat! Nikki, Yanie, Adi Fashla dan Farish together. Diserbu peminat pun, si Farhan no problem melayan. Ning meanwhile tetap every bit a diva with her new look. Cool highlights!

Kat Muzium Seni, panas!!! Ni si Nabila dan Que pun pening. Tapi sempat photo session...abang Hattan gung-ho and very upbeat. Banyak sangat photo opportunity sampai pening nak amik pic so sikit sikit je amik. Last pic si Velvet, Farhan, Farish dan Diddy posing sakan.

Lunch at A&W. Kak Dibah blanja aku ngan Bob float...tima kasih kak! Lurve ya!!!
Kat Pasar Besar Payang. Shopping sakan! Tamau kepok...bau ikan bilik hotel. Beli batik je banyak.
Ni je pic aku amik malam show kat Dataran Shahbandar. From outside looking in. My view from one of the busses into another also with artiste. Sibuk bergambar antara memasing.

Malam tu, letih sebenarnya sebab seharian berjalan...erm buat kerja. Sebenarnya letih nak ke show kat Dataran, but had to.

Tension bijik sebab organisation cam $%^&U. Bayangkan ler crowd beribu tapi security pun takde. Merasalah kena double up jadik emergency security crew ngan bebudak production crew.

Bayang kan ler...FRU takder...RELA takde...polis lak enam orang je bertugas...ngan beberapa yang pangkat besar. Tu pun yang enam orang tu kerja in two shifts. Keji...ramai artis panas je. In fact, this was not the only incident yang bikin panas entourage media dan artis ke sana.

Ramai lagik jadi...malas nak tulis sangat...tapi trust me, semua suratkhabar dan majalah akan kuar ler...panasssss!!!

But all in all...it was stll personally no less fun sebab jarang kan nak ramai ramai kumpul camni. Kecuali time time anugerah. So this was really fun...

Especially so sebab I met seseorang tu yang pernah banyak kali aku serempak kat KL tapi tak penah tegur. Rupa rupanya dia bertugas ngan SUK sana...orang Ganu gak rupanya. Patutler jarang jarang aku tengok muka dia kat KL. kejap ada kejap takde.

Anyway...I got a taste of Terengganu hospitality...and me likey!!!
