I hate dressy events. I hate them because I'll see overdressed, fashion disasters everywhere I look. 

Oh well... malam tadi ke Anugerah Industri Muzik. I think a lot of people already know what I think of it... so yeah.

Pergi pun kerana menghormati jemputan.

The 'red carpet' or silver platform... was chaotic at best. And when we finally got in - ala.. macam set Anugerah Juara Lagu je. Versi tak lengkap lah...

And the reason I was there...

Amir got four nominations for his debut album. Awesome for an independent act without any political connection.

Album wise, Amir ties with Hazama and Hafiz for most nominations.

Personally - he holds the most nominations since he has two more with Go Gerila!

And me... I was behind the design of the album which was nominated for Best Album Cover, and I did the storyboard and concept for the Tanpamu music video which was nominated in Best Music Video.

So yeah... I technically got my first two nominations for AIM.

We didn't win anything that night... expectedly. And it's ok. We have a long way more to go.

Stock clearance

Again congratulations kepada semua pemenang AIM 17. Like everyone else, ada la cam dissatisfied sikit about the distribution of awards, but hey... there are dozens of judges involved. Aku cuma sorang... but I am glad some really big talents got recognized.

Yuna and Bunkface of course being among them.

Star power tahun ni minimal gila. For some reason, cam pudar sikit majlis tahun nih. Takde sponsor nya pasal kot?

But we had Siti and Krisdayanti at least.

Tahniah Siti sebab bak pulang kedua anugerah tuk vokal. Solo and duo or group - history tuh. Walaopon aku tak gemar Amarah sangat, dan lebih harapkan pengiktirafan buat album Tahajjud Cinta which I like mroe than CTKD.

And how could we forget winner of Album of the Year, si Superman?


For me, they were among the winners with the most awesome albums the past year. Others you should listen to is Disagree (gila babas hebat album meka).

This AIM lost a little bit of sparkle. But I kept reminding myself - unlike AJL dan ABP - this is BY the industry, for the industry - to celebrate the achievements and efforts of the past year. So maybe, don't expect things to be on the same level in terms of pizzazz.

Tapi it doesn't lessen the prestige of the awards.

In fact, for any musician, being recognized by your peers is always the ultimate goal when it comes to the technical aspect of artistry (apart from producing music that touches those who listen to it).

So anyway... I have to admit. I've been lazy in updating. Sebenarnya memang sentiasa tak cukup masa beberapa hari nih. Well seminggu ni actually. Our flash mob video had to be edited.

Semalam dok lapan jam ngadap nih layan editing audio and video. Minor technical glitches, but managed to iron out most of them.

One thing aku belajar dari wat flash mob wat kali ketiga nih, is kalao nak wat outdoor, a lot of elements in uncontrolled situation kena take into account.

Contohnya.. hujan.

Petang tu hujan satu KL. Tapi seb baik awal-awal aku da carik orang tuk tolak hujan. Heh.. seb baik aku wat bajet nak pastikan my event not rained out.

Amik ko. Sapa kat sekitar KL petang Sabtu lepas mesti perasan hujan ribut bagai about 4pm. Tapi kawasan Bukit Bintang panas terik! Until we finished the show, 10 minit kemudian - amik ko hujan ribut melanda.

It also taught me to work with more parties. Biasanya aku pakai all the dance crews.

This time I had the best percussionists to work with including Batteryheads, No Noise Percussions and KL Drumline Corp. Freaking amazing crew - part of the family I work with, so korang memang awesome la. pros. Thanks to them all - and my J Squared family for keeping me sane in those busy days.

Also there were students from SMK Aminuddin Baki and also Twintech bawah Puan Siti Hajar under my direction. Aku suka! A lot of talents out there to be groomed.

As well as band Pesawat.

Ni some pics masa kita tengah prepare nak ke Bukit Bintang. Check equipment. Pakai semua wireless sebab nak nampak hidden segala.

Thanks a lot to SMK Aminuddin Baki sebab jadi our home for the past week for rehearsals and all.

This experience was definitely different from the flashmob we did in KLCC and for the Beyonce show, but it won't be the last.

In fact, as I type this - am planning something bigger - THE BIGGEST Malaysia has ever seen. God willing all plans will happen and we will again bring street performances to another level.

Yunalis Zarai

One of the big winners for AIM 17, is Yuna.

Sapa gi semalam, dapat programme, mesti baca writings from some of the biggest writers about, on some of the biggest new talents to grace our industry.

Aku bangga di beri tanggungjawab juga untuk memberi sumbangan.

And the artiste I chose, was one I believe to have a very bright future (yerlah... aku tulis nak ikhlas tanak pujian kosong ke haper... kalao hauk, hauk la jawabnya kan) - is the one and only Yunalis Zarai.

Ada orang baca my writing (click the image to make it bigger and read), and komen kata aku propah je lebih. Cam hebat sangat Yuna.

By the end of the night, she had done something quite unusual for AIM. Not only did she win for Best New Artiste, dia dapat skali Lagu Pop Terbaik tuk Dan Sebenarnya and Lagu Bahasa Inggeris Tempatan Terbaik for Deeper Conversation. She also won Song of the Year, also for Dan Sebenarnya.

I am proud of her.

Congratulations Yuna. All the attention you've been getting is justified.

Tahniah juga buat semua yang menang semalam. Biar apa pun dipertikaikan (aku pun cam geram satu dua awards cam tersesat) - still it's an awards BY the industry and fFOR the industry.

As for show, dengan takde sponsor tahun ni (ABP orang sibuk nak taja, AIM the main awards lak hado? Keja ntv7 ni nak cari sponsor tidur ka?) show tetap tampilkan stage dan production values yang fabulous.

Well... except show cam dragging and lemau sikit. Performance lak banyak yang hado... especially ending yang GELI itu. Sungguh jatuh standard pentas AIM dijadikan seperti itu. Seperti menonton Akademi Fantasia except with slightly better singing.

Beep Beep!

Aku saja biarkan panas sikit tengok komen-komen in the last couple of entries.

I wanted to see just how many were against what I had to say.

And the result? Well, based on UNIQUE comments, undoubtedly setakat sekor dua langau tuh apa sangat kalao berbanding dengan musim-musim lepas aku review Akademi Fantasia ramai berbeza pendapat, kan?

Looks like this time, almost all fans agree on one thing - halfway there and Akademi Fantasia has nothing to show for it, walaopon kompang memacam.

All I have to say is, if you have to tell people how good your are, or how fantastic something is - it really wasn't in the first place.

People can tell... but, with that said. Lantak.

So what I have decided is, right now... wat per nak bark at a mountain kan? I suppose some people can't get it through their skulls, they're messing up, so let it be. AUDITED figures of ratings and SMSes will tell them, as well as post-production hype will reveal - what we've been saying is true.

So... remember how I said aku da malas nak even bother commenting on Diari? Likewise, bab Konsert pon aku da tak kuasa da. If I have nothing better to d over the weekend and I do decide to cover it, then maybe...

I am still a fan of Akademi Fantasia. Just as far as AF8 is concerned, da ilang minat sehingga meka bother to WORK on getting better.

But it won't happen for at least a couple more weeks.

Because this week... I prefer to spend my time with...

Can I get a hell yeah? Tak sabar konsert Kelly Clarkson.

I've only seen her perform before in a showcase and not a full show. And that was YEARS ago when I first met her when Idol exploded BIG TIME. The song then was A Moment Like This, and the location kat Singapore.

She was fun, and bubbly - and very huggy.

She is extremely nice and down to earth, and I doubt she's changed much. But since there won't be interviews here this time, tak dapek ler jumpa dia... kot. Mana tau ada peluang agik.

But her concert is going to be da bomb!

And one more event I'm looking forward to is our very own AIM 17. Performers lined up memang best gila... and it'll be party time sebab this time of the year when satu industri akan berkumpul nak celebrate the achievements of the past.

Memang ada yang tak amik pot pasal AIM sebab tak paham kriteria pemilihan - but for those IN the industry, this is the biggest night, because your own peers, people who are professional are judging you.

I have one more event the day before, on May 1 (lambaaaaaaaaanggg sejatiiiii... ingat agik tak?... merasalah!)

I won't say much about it, but if you're in Kuala Lumpur, you need to be in the middle of Bukit Bintang to experience it.

It's going to be amazing! Flash mob time! Won't say anything more as everyone is hard at work.

So that's it for this entry, and it'll be quite a while before I bother mentioning a TV programme I used to like for seven years before I got bored with idiocy of the creatively challenged.

Tapi malam tadi memang best sebab pas abih meeting bagai wrap last call at 9.30pm, aku gi lepak ngan kengkawan kat Rasta.

Kali pertama aku rasa geng Rasta ni leh nak dekat kalahkan geng Pelita ngan jumlah yang berkumpul.

Yang pentingnya...

Tuh dia.. sapa nak jawab. Aku maintain merah pink gituh pala (sila abaikan tanda tanda gugur rambut yer... sebab tu rambut berminyak, yang menipis nampak ala nak botak lak - plus pendek ok!) sementara si Rudy dah berbalung ayam!

Merasalah...

Anyways, it was enlightening to learn some things tonight.

All I can say is, let God judge. Sapa la aku nak hukumi tindak tanduk sesetengah manusia yang tak sedar untung. Syukur je atas rezeki apa aku ada, dan pada yang rasa dengki melihat walaopon tak usaha nak capai apa meka nak - aku doakan meka sendiri nampak kesilapan mereka dari terus menyalahkan orang lain.

Takpe...

Apapon.. esok another day. Merasalah.

Apapon... like I said, no review of Diari yer. Geli bijik cita cinta nan hado. Focus cinta katanya... tak perlu. Jadik Akademi Maksiat ek. Heh... tak campo! What it does is show how poyo and berangan some can be. And how retarded too sampai nak tunjuk ngan motor agik. Kowser!

AIM again

Heh.. awal pagi ni tengah fresh and semangat nih. Nak abihkan keja. Baru sempat nak update pasal AIM entry semalam. So you guys saw the list of top five nominees.

Actually this year, the list is pretty good, considering all the material submitted.

Tapi aku kuciwa sikit jer, yang album Yuna tak dapat masuk top five for the album categories. I think her album is one of the best of the whole year, seriously. Tapi apakan daya, gitu.

Anyway the event semalam pon, bagus la, sebab ramai kengkawan ada. Actually, I thought PC semalam umumkan mechanics for AIM kali nih je, tup tup umumkan top five bagai.

Yerlah sebab tahun ni dekat sangat dengan Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian - things kena compacted sikit. It really is pressing for the Akademi to organize the events. Kudos to Jen and team for the work this year.

Tapi aktiviti semalam paling hectic skali? Sibuk bertukaran Blackberry PIN masing-masing. Heh... Zain yang start ngan aku. Pastu Altimet mai join, Jac pon kena tarik, and Faizal Tahir kena carot sebab pakai iPhone. Amik ko.. lone ranger katanya.

Observation pasal Diari semalam.

1) Jimmy cuba nak sebut Akademi cara betul (heh.. baguih nok, ni mesti keja Najib nih.. matilah aku!)

2) Isu Shah tak pakai baju sponsor jadik hal. Sapa mintak sponsor bangang tak bagi size betol? Motif Maybelline bodoh sangat bagi size feeling fit? Very the penganiayaan yang plus size. Terus kena amik kesempatan jadik drama. Dak tuh yang jadi mangsa. Kalau tuh makes him Drama King bak kata Baha then Baha lak drama queen sangat... (tapi wajib la jalankan peranan sebab tu tugas dia pon)

3) Ketara masa technical vocal classes (lebih seronok tengok class) ramai fail lagik dari sikit apa kita nampak - and Adira ni screamer, oh my goodness. Nangis tol dengar.

4) Kak Fati's rule for them to speak English during lunch again exposed the weaknesses of our education system. But all in all - tak se horror lack of command of English cam yang sebelum-sebelum ni... possibly because East Malaysian generally don't have that much of a problem as compared to those from Semenanjung.

5) Walaopon stengah jam pendek sangat, tapi rasanya content pon tak cukup nak sumbat, host links buang masa takde membantu langsung content.

Oh well.. layan je ek.

Pre-judging

Baru bangun tido... letih sangat. Merasalah katanya bangun at this hour kan? Tengah malam baru terjaga. Very the Betmeng gituh.

Actually semalam tak cukup tido, walaupoh hajat hati nak tido awal. Got up bright and early before 7am and was on the way to KL ke Legend Hotel tuk Anugerah Industri Muzik punya pre-judging.

Pre-judging simply means dari beratus ke berpuluh entry dalam satu kategori, we sift through each one, and mark it, and from there vote down to the choice of final ten which will undergo round two of voting to determine top five and the eventual winners.

For those of you who don't know, this is to allow more transparency in the process etc. Also tahun ni the results are going towards a more realistic manner of voting where postal ballots are not handled anymore. Online voting da mula - for Akademi members which makes up smaller part of the vote.

So pagi pagi buta ni, you get to see all the nocturnal creatures (da orang industri ni memang creatures of the night - kecuali yang stok keparat... oops korporat).. And TRUST me.... it's not a pretty sight to see all of us yang memang not morning people like zombies dragging our feet ngan semangat nan ado to do this.

Yes, we do it out of love katanya. Matilahhhhhh....

So anyway pagi tadik I think there were a hundred plus of us - select people from all disciplines of the industry. You're talking a dozen or so entertainment journalists, editors, producers, songwriters, lyricists, TV and radio people and assorted souls whom we question the existence of (matilah hidup kembali dan mati lagik carut)

So then we were split into categories to judge. No, we don't judge everything.

We don't have the strength. Berdarah dari mata dan telinga ok!

After all bab calon tu any Thong, Dev and Harith leh calonkan album. Just bayar the fee. And then it's up to us... cam melombong la kiranya. Nak sift the mud and impurities to find some precious metals. Ado?!!

Kira kita ni jadik Sirim la nak quality control.

Aku slalu kena judge kategori Indonesian songs (now best Malay song by non Malaysian artiste - specialty aku tuh), or new artiste or the English categories. All very me kan?

Tahun ni aku mintak break sikit - lari. Pening lak kena for Best Music Video dan Best Album Cover. Nangis! Lupa nak cakap Jen tanak these two either cause slalu get this too. Takpe la... selamat sikit telinga aku. Mata je berdarah lebih la.

So first category. Best Album Cover,



Nangis sebaldi sat. Tuh dia a total of 38 albums to be judged.

And the best part majority cliche gila. Now, Best Album Cover, or Kulit Album Terbaik, doesn't just mean gambar kat moka depan je tau... jangan silap. It's judged by photography, graphic, layout value and such.

And most ni cuma stok cliche yang repetitive je. Da leh cam da standard template wat album cover ni. Erm.. tanak carut lelebih la. Just some people think, stick a camera, get famous photographer and layout standard da cukup.

Aduh!!!!

Common mistakes, include make up (too much or none at all), bad lighting, Photoshop (too much or none at all - one female artiste had a unibrow.. I kid you not), cheap ass graphics (very the free font and icons download), bad photography (ada satu siap ngan pics out of focus), and of course following standard album cover templates.

By the time we were done, my eyes were burning dah. I think a handful je yang bebetol creative and original with quality from every aspect. And surprisingly most of yang leh dipuji came from albums of artistes yang tak begitu meletup nama or ala ala kadar je. Tuh la... nama nama besar suka take things for granted,

Then it was on to music videos. Nangis agik.

A total of 42 nominated. Two artistes had four, one had three and I think dua lagik have two. Yang biasa banyak ni biasanya nama pun yang tak vast. Jap... lap airmata darah yang meleleh ni sat.

The problems with our music videos is this. Kalao ada duit - usually nan ado creativity or originality. Kalao ada this unique approach - biasanya bajet ciput. Kesian...

For those of you yang nak tau... music videos lak judged based on concept, editing and continuity, art direction etc.

Things to remember not to do when you're doing a ballad for a video. Be cliched... I mean, fancy dresses, mood lighting and kipas angin. In fact, every video yang mamat atau minah dalam video tuh rambut panjang sikit je, wajib lak ada kipas angin kat depan. Heh... aiyo. Ada yang so Eighties and cliched Cerekarama fashioned punya storyline. I mean... I see better home made stuff on Youtube.

And fast paced videos - dance numbers cannot survive on choreography alone kalao video ko takde styling langsung nampak single camera production dalam studio kosong ok. Tuh pun camera angles malas nak mampos. Rock videos lak... aiyo... jangan la ingat ko dok studio kosong bersepah graphics added on later tuh da vogue. In fact a lot of videos resorted to this trick. Sad.

Ada artis lak standard la... tengok je syarikat rakaman leh tau what to expect da.

But there were a few yang besh gak. Idea baru... interesting.

One thing for sure is this year punya entries, generally, even feedback dari bilik judging for kategori lain pun - is that this year there's quantity over quality.

Still, hopefully with the business slowly gaining strength again and growing - quality will come in the face of more competition. Tu doa aku tuk industri muzik kita ni. Amin.

All in all - it took us almost five hours. For those yang lesser fortunate kena layan kategori lain - masih berdarah berjuang nak abihkan tugas meka masa aku blah.

Mana taknya... kalao kategori Lagu Terbaik ada penyanyi tertentu satu album calonkan (walaopon majoriti fillers no killer) camna? Tuh baru satu penyanyi. Nangis la syarikat rakaman skang ada yang berangan. Tuh lum agik berapa ramai artis ngan album remix dan version lain bagai yang last year or previous year da masuk - tapi rerelease ubah sikit je masuk balik ngan produk sama yang nan ado. Aiyo... if it didn't work the first time. Sedarlah...

Still it was fun to catch up and bitch with all my industry friends. Makes it worth the pain la... almost. A yearly ritual yang very the painful but fun. Sadis kan aku ni...

It was raining cats and dogs (or pussies and bitches in my terminology) and I headed home nak tido. Balik terus ala beruang masuk musim, hibernasi, hawau!

Owh by the way.. wonder what's the deal with this car which was in front of me at one point. Takde number plate.



Majorly scary! Hitman sangat. Tinted bagai lagik. You can be sure I didn't pull my road bully act on this car.

Yawn... ok la. I think I actually have it in me nak sambung tidur. Tomorrow ada beberapa event. Tatau semangat ke tak nak gi je. Teringin nak take a few days to relax.

Ready....AIM...

I thought of reviewing the AIM, tapi cam malas lak. Watchd a video of the show and thought biasa biasa jerk.

But have to things to say about the show. Firstly thank you to the Akademi for remembering those who passed on.

Kalau biasa, the tributes aku tak pernah kenal orang tu personally, this time it was different.
First buat arwah Azman, otherwise known as the only and only flamboyant Cleo, who used to be my colleague in The Malay Mail... you wlll sorely be missed my flamboyant friend. And you deserve to be remembered by an industry you've helped build.

Also, for the late Rosli Khamis, otherwise known as Loloq. Sedih kali ni tengok ada yang kenal yang remembered... seems so long ago...

In memoriam...


Apart from the sadder bits there, there were also things to celebrate. Congratulations to a lot of people who picked up wins, especially Faizal Tahir for the comeback.

But two people I really want to congratulate are two young... well.. kind of, fairly fresh names who were among the most nominated, and picked up wins for the night.

Firstly... Audi Mok for Faizal's album. The camera shy weirdo made it! Yeay! You owe me koh loh yoke!!!

Secondly to Sharon Paul, for being part of the winning production team behind Datuk Siti Nurhaliza's Hadiah Daripada Hati. 241B, holler y'all!!! Yeay!!!!

Ramai ex college mate cam Sharon menang malam tu. But sebab Sharon one batch ngan aku, sebut tuh jerk la. 241B rocks!




Congrats again, guys... you guys deserve it and keep up the good work.

Judgement Day

Lebih overindulge myself in sleep the past few days, ari nih terpaksa bangun awal - melekat jerk mata. Still made it to Legend Hotel in time for the AIM pre-judging.

Tahun ni ada sistem baru. Ada dua peringkat judging, which is good, I suppose. The first round kita terlibat nih, nak vet through all the entries nominated by the recording companies, and score them - and later yang shortlisted lak judged further and evaluated.

So bayangkan ler... dalam satu kategori pun - ada berpuluh entries - lebih seratus pun kena dengar satu satu dengan teliti. Leh berdarah telinga - tambah lagi kalau yang di calonkan syarikat rakaman, yang kualiti cam rekod dalam bilik stor oleh penyanyi yang lebih sesuai dok along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman with a Casiotone and sunglasses.

Anyway, patutnya breakfast start at 8.30am. Aku dok hantar Boo ke Panggung Bandaraya, and then rush straightaway, sampai pun abut 8.45am.

Not too surprisingly everyone started coming in at 9am. Ramai ler kengkawan n the music business ada.

Semua ala ala zombie (orang keja line nih memang nocturnal - bab malam je alive).

Briefing session


Former NST, then Awani, now back in NST... Fida is NOT a morning person.


Borak borak, catch up here and there. Erm... ramainya orang! By the time it was almost 9.30am and time to start the briefing, penuh gak la dewan. Producers, composers, lyricist, media - the familiar faces semua ada.

Then we were delegated our categories of judging. Kalau sebelum sebelum ni leh buat judging dua tiga kateori sebab semua da shortlisted, kali nih kena buat vetting tuh yang tak larat. Bayangkan la ada kategori sampai seratus lebih album nak dengar!!!

Aku kena a new kategori. Kalau sebelom ni Best Indonesian Album, this year this category dah di buang. A new category (one of the few) has been introduced which is the...let's see if I get it right (pajang nama nih).... kategori Lagu Bahasa Melayu Yang Dipersembahkan Oleh Artis Luar or Best Malay Song Performed By A Foreign Artiste.

Yeap... not by album anymore, but by song da.

Syarikat rakaman menghantar sejumlah 28 lagu untuk dinilai. Nih my group mates nak judging... dua orang jer tak kenai sangat. There was Audi and Min from Bacaria yang mewakili kumpulan Karangkraf, both virgins at judging - Anida from Hot FM, Mas Omar - otai lne nih, Nani yang former Akademi gak and two others apart from me.

Merasalah cam ada tema lak. Notice my Marlboro. Yer bapak bapak, ibu ibu. Harus diingati... merokok dapat menyebabkan kanker, serangan jantung, impotensi dan gangguan kehamilan dan janin. Matilah free ciggys kakak aku belikan duty free Indo masa balik Bali arituh satu carton.

It took us nearly two over hours to finish this category. Can't say how it went, but it was fun - I suppose. Nih lari balik nak tidur jap.. malam ni ada Siti kat Zoom In at RTM siaran langsung. Later aku upload pics ok.

Overdue.My triple joy.

Hutang entry memang da lama kan? Sori ler...bukan apa. Sibuk teramat. Read ler this entry sampai habis kalao tak caya, Seksa ok nak update entry ni sebab banyak sangat, so I'll just kind of gloss over what happened since Saturday.

Of course the whole day didn't go anywhere, conserve energy tidur seharian sebab malam tuh AIM. So leh agak ler my routine for the next couple of days.

Tunggu si Shahrill join, sebab dia tengah exam final, so kesian lak....stress study, baik gi rehatkan minda sikit layan show dari nak dok holed up at home ngan buku je.

Walaupon presentation dia tak abih katanya yang nak deliver pagi buta esoknya.
Heh...suka tau last minute. Best sebab Shahrill tunjuk benda dia pakai tuk magic dia yang terbaru yang memang susah nak dapat kat sini. Sib baik da tau trick ko...kalao tak naya je tertipu aku.

Sampai kat PWTC, we headed in just about time and took our seats. Not too bad...smack right in the centre with one of the best views of the stage. Yang pentingnya, aku da ada tiga invites, satu bagik Ted, dua lagik terbazir camtuh jer.

The first thing aku spotted of interest was this...on the left.
Itu dia rambut Reshmonu sempena Visit Malaysia Year yang diinspirasikan oleh bunga manggar!

Absolutely hilarious! But props to you Resh for the balls to appear different. And great show too.

Speaking of show, kali ni AIM cam takde ummphhh!!! lak for some reason.

I mean, timing ok..well paced, shows weren't as horrible as I thought.

Still.. entahlah. Tak semegah yang aku harapkan.

The one show wrth loking frward to was Anuar Zain for sure.

Kalao dak pengkritik kat Akademi Fantasia kata an average presentation is a perfect 10, amacam Anuar lak?

Aku rasa kalao camni...si Anuar is 100 over 10 ler sebab it was simply beautiful. Walaupon there was something dodgy going on with the music because the levels were kind of screwed with the orchestra occasionally drowning out his vocals.

Still it was one of the magical moments which was powerful enough to capture the audience.

Apart from Anuar's show, there was few worth mentioning. Mawi dan Ramli Sarip was awesome too.... the closing was cliched, ngan Double Trouble taking the stage. Kira power gak ler tapi bosan ler sebab da standard sangat da meka nak rock reunions ni can shake people up.

Did I forget the set of divas? Well...first of all, lagu Bermula Di Sini was the wrong choice of song to share between four big vocals. Hasilnya?

Jac, yang memang vocal meletop grabbed the spotlight without even being trying.

Siti and Aishah were reduced to being backing vocals, while I found Noryn just irritating...because she was screeching all over the place trying to outdo Jac but failing miserably.

Kira ok jer ler. Better yet actually was the medley Artis Baru Terbaik. Forget Izwan Pilus, Fazli Zainal dan eve nt he overrated Sean Ghazi.

Aku bangga ngan Bob sebab he was easily the best vocals among the five nominated names. Farhan too did quite well, enough to stand by Bob.

Sapa kata reality TV can't produce talents, though this isa thing of the past judging by musim kelima.

Bab bekas pelajar ni, of course Mawi pun rocked the stage. Sayang je Zahid tak dapat perform...stakat present. Takpe...last year dah...next year kang album baru kuar kang..we see you again onstage ek.

Show M. Nasir? Opening yang tak kena. It was nice and all, but somehow it seemed kind of weird to see him wear pink and bounce along ngan those dancers yang look like they were part of a third rate drag ensemble.

Ok ler...tapi aku rasa kalao in terms of explosiveness, patutnya meka letak je Mawi dan Ramli Sarip sebab lebih hebat...
Daripada segi lain...erm...it was nice to see them cut short the acceptance speeched supaya tak lari timing slot AIM tahun ni.
Kalau tak kan biasa meleret sampai entah brapa lama.

Still, at times it looked rather unprofessional sebab hampir semua penerima anugerah cam kena cut off in their moment of glory.
The presenters semua bias aje...nothing great, but thank goodness meka kept to script if nothing else. Takde ler lawak bangang yang membuang masa.

The hosts itself?
Syukur ler si Bob Lokman tak bersora banyak sangat and he was kept to a minimum...kalao tak pening nak layan. Afdlin yang biasanya best gila, subdued dan seolah takde skrip.

Adibah Noor jer ok. Tu pun boleh lah...sebab dia ni memang naturally quirky kan. Rasanya kalao tahun depan, Adibah sendiri pun mampu carry on with the show on her own.

Erm...yang asik dok promo Sumo, aku ok jer sebab hopefully it will be one of Afdlin's best films, tapi tak perlu ler sangat.
Banyak agik filem dan album slalu kuar, takkan sebab Afdlin jadik host nak plug for most of the releases....or any releases for that matter. No offense Flin....it just wasn't on, tapi da rezeki ko bro. All these years of holding AIM together, I suppose they do owe it to you.

Bab kemenangan...memang ada kejutan, cam si Ahmadi Hassan menang Best Nasyid Album (bukan apa, tapi album Qasidah, Berzanji dan Doa Berlagu is the best nasyid album this year), Siti kalah Best Vocal Performance In An Album (Female) lepas dominasi menang back to back for eight years (tapi Jac menang pon ok) ... a few shockers here and there.

But happy gak sebab Siti menang Best Pop album. Aku happy sebab aku masa dulu review pun aku da kata, it was one of the best albums for the year, and at least it's proven when she went on to win Album Of The Year sekaligus.

Satu je award aku nak gelak cam buang masa (selain Best Ethnic Pop Album sebab ada dua je pencalonan, which is the Best Indonesian Album.

Kenapa sembilan dari sepuluh kali artis Indo yang dijemput hadir, mesti menang?

Cam plan jer. Ke da dijanji menang kalao meka menghadirkan diri? Who knows?

Boleh jer la Samsons ni. No skin ff my back pun meka menang.

Lepas abih je persembahan terakhir aku dan Shahrill rush downstairs to the post party... sebab malas kang everyone make an exit at once. So gerak ler dulu. Lagikpon kebulur ni. Kang lambat sampai, makan pon tak,nak keja interview sana sini pun menyukarkan je.

Was among the first to reach, and just as Shahrill sat down nak makan, aku spotted Siti masuk. Hah...jarang ok Siti grace post party events. Tak nampak husband tersayang dia, but takper.

Sempat ler talked a bit (see...told you kan Siti?). This is one of the few times, aku honestly leh kata she totally deserved the award. Siti pun cam happy semacam. Mana taknya...the albumis the first product of Siti Nurhaliza Productions... baby dia lr katakan...so mesti bangga hasil pertama tuh membuahkan hasil dan diiktiraf.

Time ni ler aku leh see everyone closer for what they wore, so leh ler usha sapa pakai baju cantik dan sapa yang azab.

Aku rasa yang paling happening...dan sexy skali fr the night...taklain tak bukan... Amy Search ler. Kalah ok th rest of the women. Merasalah la ko Amy dedah sana sini...heh! Kalah Syafinaz pun ok!

Erm...rambut rebonding ke?

No way Jose. tetap berketak ok.

But the winner hands down for the most horrific get-up has to be Dina.

Didn't stay the whole night. Being claustrophobic aku pun ajak Shahrill to have supper elsewhere after I was done with work.

Lost him no less than FOUR times. Rupanya, dia ni asik hilang, sebab asik dok kena tarik ngan orang. Apa lagik kalao kena tarik.

Wat magic show jer ler jawabnya. Heh...sabar jer ler...camtuh ler kalao orang da kenal.
Took a few pictures here and there tapi generally spent the night gabbing away until si Shahrill was done amusing people with a few tricks. Among his audience was bebudak security yang terhibur gila ngan dia. Amik ko.

Lepas melantak, kena lagik satu round si Shahrill ni nak wat magic tuk kanak-kanak Ribena ni.

Tak cukup satu dua illusions, siap kena explain camna buat (mana leh!)

Tengok si Shahrill ni (curi pic dari Judd). Seronok beriya dapat wat show, walaopn show pree jer ngan bebudak nih yang dra dia trick after trick.

But he was ever obliging and amazed everyone aku rasa for ovr an hour. Banyak lak neverending request nak ajar...but of course the magicians code and all.

One of the best things to see live, is the spoon bend yang dia gosok near the stem of the spon, dan sudu tuh mula membengkk sendiri. That's something that loks awesome live.

Not to mention yang spoon yang or fork yang twisted tuh.

That's massively freaky ok.

Tapi yang pentingnya, pas da buat kena sorok lak garpu yang jadik mangsa tuh, sebab takde magic yang nak betulkan balik bengkang bengkok garpu tuh. Matila tak pasal pasal kang kena caj lebih sebab rosakkan utensil orang.

Korang kalau tune in Fuyoo Magic every Tuesday, at 10.30pm (tolong promosi program dia) mesti da penah tengok dia buat.

But seeing it live is totally different. It works more ler in front of your eyes because you know it really is happening.

Nak tengok akibat magic si Shahrill ni?

Ni dia... tak pasal pasal ler garpu ni jadik mangsa... heh... kalau tengok pic Shahrill kat atas tuh, tu the fork befoe it was mangled by Shahrill's 'telekinetic' powers.

Had a fun night, that was sure, and a great close to the weekened... or so I thought. Si Rudy ajak aku sekali ngan dia ke assignment dia esok. I said I'd think about it sebab I didn't really have anything planned pun.
