Thank you everyone

It took me a little time to write this.

Somehow... I didn't want to say anything about this, but I know I have a lot of people to thank for #OpsBunga.

What started as a small idea by me out of frustration over the politicking in Sabah, amidst the death and fear... became something that was talked about not only in Malaysia, but in other parts of the world.

The idea was simple. To lay flowers, and to say a prayer. The reasons behind #OpsBunga were clear (click #OpsBunga anywhere and read if you haven't).

And yet, Twitterjaya - the Malaysian Twitter community, as well as the Malaysian blogesphere and online community went full force to promote the event.

I'm touched that so many total strangers, bonded over the simple call for peace.

What surprised me even more was the attention the media gave to us.

Thank you everyone... and all I can say is - at least we proved that social media CAN make a change. I got some hate from a few parties for doing this - from people saying it was a stupid idea to being called a hippie.

Well, I guess I'd rather be a hippie any day than a keyboard warrior.

I don't want to say much more apart - since the attention shouldn't be on me, but a big hearty THANK YOU to Malaysians on Facebook, blogs, Twitter (especially Twitterjaya) for the support for #OpsBunga - we proved we can do something, and that we do have a voice.

May this voice, however small, echo through this troubled times and bring forth a new belief, that peace can exist.

Imagine all the people... living in harmony.

I dream of Z... 10!

Haven't had the time of late to blog so much. Tweeting as usual dominates my life, sehingga tak ada masa nak betul-betul duduk nak update. Walaupun tak panjang punya entry pun - blogging sesungguhnya lebih memakan masa nak buat. Tapi kerana blog ni juga lah ramai mula kenal siapa aku, so sayang gap nak abaikan sampai bersawang.

Anyway, for the last couple of days, I got my new 'toy'. Something I've been waiting for over a year now. It's the Blackberry 10 - Z10!

Oh my... what can I say. I'm in love with it. Blackberry haters can say what they want, but put the Z10 to a test against the iPhone or any Android - the Z10 kicks major ass!

In every, single way. You've probably read of all the features, but honestly, nothing beats giving it a go for real!

Earlier tonight was the launch of the Z10 which begins sale in Malaysia from tomorrow, so while everyone was clamouring over it at the event, I was showing off my white Z10!

The launch at Marini's on 57 0 on the 57th floor of the Petronas Tower 3 was mind blowing. Check out the view - taken of course with my Z10.

If you're thinking of getting a new phone - seriously try the Z10. I won't hard sell it to anyone, because I seriously say you have to try it for yourself to realize how amazing it is and how it's really redesigned from any Blackberry you may have known.

And to answer the age old question...

I've been one of the few online friends of Blackberry in Malaysia (they don't pay me, but they recognize I'm a loyal fan of the brand) - but with Blackberry 10 - I've gotten another status from Blackberry Malaysia - I'm one of the Blackberry Elites - a small group of hardcore, Blackberry fans cum 'experts'.

Expert indeed. *giggles* - but yeah... I guess I do know my Blackberry. It took me all of 2 minutes to master the Z10 - without needing manuals or tutorials.

Ok... time to sign off. Wanna play some more with my Z10.

Wall of heroes

These are the eight, brave, heroic men who have been killed in defending our country from the bogus Sultan and his bunch of barbaric bastards.

The two on the lower row died in Lahad Datu, and the six were killed in Semporna.

These men will not have died in vain. We celebrate their name, and cry the tears shared with their families and loved ones in their passing.

Semoga mereka semua ditempatkan dikalangan mereka yang beriman.

May God bless their souls.

Am seriously messed up right now thinking how in this day and age, some people can still justify such barbaric actions to storm the homes of others and think they're in a lawless land to demand what they want out of greed.

The Kirams can haul their asses back to wherever they came from. You do not belong in Sabah. Sabah will never belong to you.

Whatever claims you have - if you had even an iota of a chance - you would have gone to the International Court of Justice instead of turning your back on the elected governments of two countries in your desperate greed!

Praise the Lord that Philippine President Benigno Aquino and Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and their respective governments have come out in condemnation of this stupidity.

Am just so angry those barbarians are saying it's about pride and it's a do or die situation.

As mush as I hate violence, maybe death is the best option if they really think that way.

Sabah belongs to the people. And the people don't want them. They are part of Malaysia.

WE are Malaysia.

Period.

May God protect us.

Shame on you Bristol City fans!

Bangga tak? Sebagai rakyat Malaysia, tengok masa game Bristol City lawan Cardiff City, semua menunjuk pada bendera Malaysia?

Jangan bangga sangat.

And yes, that was from the official Facebook page of the Cristol City FC Supporters page.

What the fucking hell is that". Dan dengan bangganya dipertahankan peminat mereka sendiri.

And yet, despite some speaking out against it, tetap ada yang menyatakan justifikasi tak masuk akal, hanya kerana persaingan dua kelab bola.

Inilah dikatakan bodoh...

And yes, that was from the Bristol City FC Supporter Page Twitter.

Hish!

Bila aku tweet dengan penyokong mereka - ni jawapan...

Lepas tu, sambung bertweet da mula reda sebab malas gaduh.

Kalau dasar kelas bawahan nya perangai...

Dahlah English berterabur, eja pun tak betul, nak kutuk orang kata takleh eja bagai. Stupid stupid kids...bila da kena berapa das setakat duduk kedua terbawah liga (not even Premier) terus sentap block aku dari Twitter. Kalah adik-adik punya tahap sentap ni.

Apapun, penghinaan Jalur Gemilang ni MEMALUKAN! Kerana bola, tahap mentaliti sampah leh melibatkan maruah bendera sesebuah negara. Mangkuk jamban.

To Bristol City FC supporters - you're still second from the bottom, so no need to be wankers about it. Boo! But what can you say about a bunch of yobs who pledge their support to the beautiful game but can't take being second from the bottom in the table when they lose and act like THIS

2012 DA 14

Today about 400 were  injured after a meteor exploded over Chelyabinsk in central Russia.

The blast happened at an altitude of 10,000 metres with the meteor breaking apart and causing a shower as it entered the Earth’s atmosphere at around 9:20 in the morning local time, seen 200 kilometres away in Russia’s fourth-largest city, Yekaterinburg.

Early tomorrow morning (2am Malaysian time), an asteroid will race past the Earth on Friday at a distance of just 27,729 kilometers.

Called 2012 DA14, the asteroid is 50 metres across and while it while miss earth, there is a possibility satellite phone and TV as well as weather satellites will be affected. Go outside and see if you can spot it!

Amazing sport... that nobody knows?!

Oh my... seriously?

And after decades of promoting the sport of sepaktakraw, it's still in the 'unknown' segment in the world of sports.

As a Malaysian, I don't know whether to laugh or cry with the headline for the posting in Failblog, taken from Reddit. Started so promising with Sepaktakraw : The Coolest Sport - until it got to the part... Nobody Knows.

Adoi... pikiaq positif jek lah. Given the thumbs up, I guess it's a good thing. At least people think it's cool. Small baby steps...

Now only if we can be the best at it, and keep Thailand away from being better.

Unicorn riding, anyone?

I hate Groupon. I don't know... just think it's overrated. Offer meka ni kekadang mengarut nak mampus. And true enough, yesterday was alerted of an offer (sadly expired now), offering a whopping 58% discount on unicorn rides in Ulu Yam.

Sila gelak ye...

Cool or what... exactly. I thinking of the 'what' too.

Blackberry 10 - The Dummies Guide

Yesterday night (11pm - Malaysia time) was the worldwide launch of Blackberry 10. The new Blackberry platform.

And there is SO much that's new about it. First of all - introducing two members of the Blackberry 10 family. The Z10 and the Q10.

Now here's what you need to know.

1. First of all. Research In Motion is now officially known as just - Blackberry. There is no more RIM. The tagline for the company is now 'One Brand, One Promise' to refocus its strategies.

2. The Blackberry 10 is a complete overhaul of the Blackberry operating system. Meaning, it won't function as what you know of the normal Blackberry that you may already own. It will be familiar - but a big change from what you had. So until you get to test drive a Blackberry 10 - don't compare it with what you know based on past Blackberry experiences.

3. The Blackberry Hub is now a key feature. Bringing together your email, text messages, BBMs, and various other notifications from social networking sites and the calendar - integrating it all with the execution of the newly introduced Blackberry Flow that means you will never really leave the screen.

4. There is no home button! It's all swipe motion. This brings on Blackberry Peek. Think of your Blackberry now as a book, you can flip to any page - without having to close the other. Hard to imagine? Watch a demo video online or try it out. It makes things so much easier.

5. Blackberry Time Shift. This has been one of the outstanding new features I've been waiting for. You take a photo, and someone blinks or smirks or whatever. You just click on their face - and go BACK or FORTH in time before you took the photo to choose the right 'face' that you want. On the spot editing, no need to take like five different pictures to get the perfect picture.

6. Blackberry Story Maker is amazingly a surprise. Didn't hear about it until the launch event last night. Basically, your Blackberry is built in with a movie maker! You can edit you photos, images, music together to make an instant movie.

7. Predictive text has always existed. BUT you NEED to see how it works on the Blackberry 10. Crazy! No phone does this.

8. There are variations in the two models of the Blackberry 10 family so far.

First, the Blackberry Z10. It comes in two colours, both black - and white. I usually hate touchscreen devices because it can be so bloody hard to type. But the new Blackberry Flow, Peek coupled with the new capabilities of the predictive text function allow everything to be done - with just one thumb. Seriously. This is... yummy. The back is no longer cheap plastic. It is a durable rubberised soft grip feature that is really luxurious and gorgeous!

The Q10 offers a familiar look like the Blackberry 9900 but with a larger screen allowing the capabilities of Blackberry Flow and Blackberry Peek to make it more amazing.

9. BBM offers new features. Voice Call via BBM was introduced, and now - you have Video Calling available on your BBM service as well. Awesome demo was done at the launch, and it is definitely a bonus.

10. Screen Share is another feature that is pretty awesome. Imagine you want to show someone who's not by your side what's on your phone. Now that's possible via screen share, where the other user can be invited to take a peek at your phone to share pictures or more.

11. Blackberry Share allows you to partition your Z10 for both work and personal use making it physically impossible for the two sides to share data (such as photos). This will apply more for enterprise users.

12. How does the Blackberry 10 family stack up against competition?

As you can see, battery life which everyone bitches about has been greatly increased. The Blackberry is one of the major challengers when it comes to that now. As is pretty much the whole hardware.

In fact, if we were to go by hardware alone - the Blackberry 10 is neck and neck with the Apple and Samsung challengers. Windows phones are pretty much paperweights right now.

And that's not taking into account the software. Blackberry 10's QNX technology is amazing, but again, with all the new functions and user interface, it has to be experienced to get an idea of what it's all about. I have had the chance to try to both the Alpha Developers A and B - the test units of the Blackberry 10 and I can see how amazing it is. Note, despite being a fan of Blackberry - I have tested the iPhone, HTC, Samsung and Nokia. So when I say amazing, I am saying it by comparison - NOT by just preference alone.

Now...

The magic question. The Blackberry 10 that everyone's talking about - which has seen the likes of Alicia Keys, Neil Gaiman and Robert Rodriguez join the Blackberry family to promote it.

14. When will the Blackberry 10 family come to Malaysia and how much will it cost?

Officially - Blackberry Malaysia have announced the grand launch of Blackberry 10 on 20 February.

No price has officially been announced, or the actual date the phone will hit the shelves, but I believe it will be immediate after the Malaysian launch.

The UK gets theirs today, some territories get it by 15 February while the US will get it by March. Why 'so long'? Easy. Telco and provider issues I guess.

At any rate. I'm getting mine. Expect to see my personal review of it in three weeks. My only dilemma now is - do I get it in black, or white.

PS - There are other functions like Remember. But honestly, it's just loaded with new stuff.

PPS - More than 70,000 to begin with but more apps are coming. Meanwhile Blackberry World has much more.

Bandung

Dah lama tak update blog sebab kemalasan dan juga (always the same reason). So memandangkan baru balik Bandung, nak gak update sikit sebab day lama takde pics jalan-jalan.

Was in Bandung membawa Amir sebagai wakil Malaysia untuk acara 4th Marketplace of Creative Arts anjuran World Islamic Economic Forum. Memang best, tapi kesibukan sana akibat kepadatan jadual persembahan dan aktiviti memang membatas kan nak jalan-jalan sikit.

Dah lah duduk di hotel Sensa, right in the heart of Jalan Cihampelas. Rugi gila... sampan hati Jumaat sudahpun malam.

Sayang seribu kali sayang...

Ni je sempat snap.

Jalan sana memang pack. Berapa kali nyaris dilanggar mobil dan speda. Heh!

One unique thing about Cihampelas (siapa penah go mesti tau), kedai kedai di Jalan Cihampelas (atau Jeans Street) semua pakai memacam comic book characters lariskan kedai. Copyright owners tak saman ke? Merasalah...tengok je pics.

Anyway... balik acara 4th Marketplace of Creative Arts, bangga sebab Amir memang meninggalkan kesan di sana dengan muzik dia. Also, he was one of the youngest.

Matilah... kena alasan camtu baru nak update.

My pride! Malaysia Boleh!

Aku tau aku da lama malas update blog. Ampun sangat! Sejak migrasi ke Twitter ni, aku sumpah lebih aktif sampai kalao wat blog posting, sehari leh 50 entries kat blog ni punya panjang.

Still, hari ni hari istimewa, sebab hari ni - kita buktikan MALAYSIA BOLEH!

What do I mean?

Sebab aku kaki Foursquare, more than two weeks ago aku perasan meka ada wat 'contest'.

In our region setakat ini, cuma Singapore tersenarai.

Bangga sial!

Lepas ini, hopefully kita akan dapat listkan banyak lagi bandar menarik di seluruh Malaysia termasuk Penang, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu dan Kuching to begin with.

Usaha ini sememangnya tak akan bermakna kalau bukan kerana sokongan Twitterjaya dan Foursquarers Malaysia - so dengan itu, WE DID IT! Malaysia BOLEH!

For the Beliebers

You heard it here first. Justin Bieber is coming to Malaysia.

The singing foetus grosses me out. He's like a yucky version of Alvin and the Chipmunks musically, with more hair on the head, and hairless everywhere else and forgets he's all vanilla.

But for Beliebers, rejoice for it has apparently been confirmed he will coming to Kuala Lumpur in March 2011. Remember. You heard it here first. Will let you guys know more about the Bieber when I get details.

For the Glamberts

So I promised you guys pics. Here it is. Took an eternity to get everything up...

But.. before anything, this is me and some friends with Adam backstage. It was funny and sort of embarrassing. Since this was my second time in a day meeting up with him, after our interview over the phone - the moment we walked into the room, Adam said, "Hi, it's you again!" and smiled.

Before I could say anything, one of my friends, screamed, ran up, hugged and kissed Adam on the cheek. I had never seen her go crazy like that before, so it was kind of shocking. Funny... but shocking. Especially when Adam went blubbering, "... no kiss... no kiss".

We talked a little and snapped a pic for memories and that was that.

By the way, if you guys are looking for the set list for the night, here it is.

In order of performance, it was Voodoo, For Your Entertainment, Down The Rabbit Hole, Ring Of Fire, Fever, Sleepwalker, Whataya Want From Me, Soaked, Broken Open, Aftermath, Surefire, Strut, Music Again and If I Had You with the encore of Mad World and 20th Century Boy.

Won't review the concert except to say the experience was one of the best I've had next to Black Eyed Peas (their Genting show not the dumb ass MTV World Stage performance) and Beyonce's tour stopover in Bangkok that I caught.

Adam was at the top of his game, and he was the consummate performer - in every aspect.

Ok.. enough yapping. Enjoy the pic, courtesy of Sony Music Malaysia.
