Pocor pocor!

Today things were a little haywire sikit. Dahler nak abihkan year ender. Then a couple of other things, and also ada PC AIM Prelude. Nothing much, just announcing the performers tuk showcase yang biasa as a warm up to the event.

Kalau ikut senarai lama, semua da lepas zaman sebenarnya, I think apart from Dayang Nurfaizah, there weren't any current names. It appears to be more of a retro effort... tapi hey... program orang nak cakap apa kan?

Took some shots at the event kat Planet Hollywood, which also witnessed the performance of Meet Uncle Hussein. They're quite interesting, though I want to really listen to them for who they are. Right now, I don't know.. still am getting the Butterfingers vibe off them.

Still they're worth a listen. One of the better upcoming bands out there that you guys should take a listen to for their potential to be the biggest thing in commercial rock.

Tak ramai artis yang hadir, but then seeing how depressing the line-up was, I guess this is as good as it gets.

Once done, hopped over to izzi for a bite, and also peace of mind. Somehow, being the only establishment with an air conditioned smoking area just makes it so appealing to work in. That, with the good food and the bottomless beverages - always the best choice for me.

No noisy idiots to contend with, and within two hours, I had completed a couple of stories to hantar by email.

Lega sikit. A couple more, and I will be relaxed over the weekend to party and not have to bother with deadlines.
Abih je it was almost 8pm, so gerak ke KL Tower sebab ada Media Nite kat sana.

Arituh si Shai da mention.. biasa la. Dia da memang orang sana. Tadik la si Juan kata dia pegi, ajak skali, so against better judgement (oops!) aku pun pegi lah.

Got to test my new camera and shoot a pic of KL's finest erection (matilah aku!!!). Sampai je it was already packed. Got a little claustrophobic, but still managed to deal with it.
But, mak aih.. these people tema ala ala hutan, probably due to the vicinity of the location of KL Tower, which is surrounded by Hutan SImpan Bukit Nanas.

Er... kind of creative honestly, though I just couldn't shake off the feeling that it reminded me of my rumah hantu yang kelas aku wat time Hari Kantin kat skolah time Form Three.

It did look pretty decent though, so props to the organising team ler sebab tungkus lumus hias. Siap ada cages with iguanas and was that a fox or something I was playing with? Oh whatever.
Merasalah gi dekat dekat nak main and feed it. Kang kena cakar salahkan zoo... eh.. KL Tower lak. I think I should stay away from the front pages.

Anyway, ran about saying hi to everyone, cause bumped into a lot of colleagues from the news side of things.

Sebab aku da lama tinggalkan sejak masuk hiburan full time abut six years ago, a lot of them I had forgotten. Muka kekadang cam, tapi nama..mmm.

Typical dialogue of someone tegur me is :
Unknown Person : Eh Joe! Lama tak nampak! Ingat tak?
Me : Ah ah la (dengan senyuman plastik cover confusion)... lama tak nampak. Uwaa... naik/turun (depending on my evalution for a suitable answer) badan!
Unknown Person : Biasalah... umur.
Me : Ah ah... lama tak jumpa camtuh ler. So ko skang attach mana?
Unknown Person : Alah..tempat sana. Ko ingat kan?
Me : Still there? Wow... tahan nampaknya...
Unknown Person : Ko masih ada nombor aku kan. Kang free ko call ek.. we meet up!
Me : Sure... eh jap... nak mintak diri jap ek. Tu ada member (larikkkkk!!!)

It was a little tiring... especially since kena fake sebab nak jaga hati orang. After all, that was better than, "No I don't remember you. You are hardly significant, and what makes you think you're worth recalling? Obviously I've permanently erased you from my memory."

Pentingnya, aku letih sangat kuar isap rokok, baru nak lelap kat armchair kat corridor tempat smoking - tetiba dengar number aku dipanggil.

It's definitely the thought that counts, and I am flattered nok that you thought of me.

Merasalah terus smangat nak layan event agik even though it was getting draggy with a million and one things going on, but none actually capturing my fancy.

So mulled around, call Boo and gayut, and generally bored myself even more (really didn't need the help actually)

Spent the time on the phone with several people. One for the project I have in mind, but am still sitting on. Takper... azam 2008 aku, to get all my projects planned, not only off the ground, but to a flying start.

God willing, 2008 is MY year where everything will hopefully come together after years of planning and hoping for it to happen.

Too early to say anything, tapi kalau jadi (doakan lah ek) aku posting entry about it.

Whipped out my camera in between the phone calls - and started snapping just about anything sebab nak layan kebosanan.

My favourite shot of the night from the revolving restaurant atop KL Tower, would definitely have to be this simple scenic shot of the KLCC.

Angle tak cantik sangat, but somehow I like it.

Sometimes, I've become so familiar with KL, that I never marvel at the beauty we have in our own Federal Capital.

A metropolitan city like no other... but only if you give it a chance and discover the beauty of it.

The shot I took almost reminds me of a movie scene, and I wonder, how come no one ever includes nice scenes of the city skyline at night like this.

Makes you appreciate KL more, traffic jam and smog and all.
Wanted to take more shots but thought it would be a little too self indulgent, since I'm no photography expert and my angles are probably lousy... but this probably gives you an idea of what the view was like from the tower.

Anyhoo..rasa cam masa nak balik when they started pocor pocor. Not my thing really.




Went and had supper with Boo after and then headed home to finish a little work in my own time. Did Hady win by SMS voting FLUKE?

WAS he a default winner who merely got lucky due to tactical voting?
Barely a day after Singapore's Hady Mirza sent shockwaves throughout the region by clinching the Asian Idol title, netizens are already raining on his victory parade.
Their theory?
That the 27-year-old R&B crooner only won because voters from the other five participating countries had adopted a tactical plan which eventually backfired.
Here's how: With one SMS, voters must choose two different countries to ensure fairness and minimise any potential national bias - a system that inadvertently benefitted Hady.
According to many postings on the official Asian Idol forum and MediaCorp's forum, people might have cast the first vote for their home idol, and the second vote to the one who's the least threatening, most unlikely to win and from the smallest country - to avoid improving the chances of the closest rival.
Hence, Singapore's Hady.
One netizen who went by the name of Van Helsing wrote: 'Hady was mostly selected as the second choice. It could be due to either the voters really liking him (apart from their own home idol) or he is not a threat (to their own home idol).
'Either way, the voting system has certainly worked to Hady's advantage.'
Hady took the title on Sunday night when he defeated five other Idol winners from Indonesia (Mike Mohede), Malaysia (Jaclyn Victor), the Philippines (Mau Marcelo), Vietnam (Phuong Vy) and India (Abhijeet Sawant).
The regional singing competition was televised live from Jakarta.
Despite being considered one of the weaker singers and hardly the judges' favourite, Hady managed to garner the lion's share of the almost two million SMS votes cast.
And therein lies the ongoing debate about how he pipped outstanding powerhouse singers like Jaclyn, Mike and Mau.
Did he really have the most mass appeal? Or was it all a fluke?
Hady's supporters laud his charm, good looks, X-factor and marketability, insisting he possesses the 'total package' and is 'star material'.
On the other side of the spectrum, adjectives like 'unbelievable', 'disappointing', 'anti-climactic', 'weird' and even 'funny' cropped up to describe his win.
Disgruntled netizen look4realdeal suggested that if there's ever another Asian Idol, people should 'vote for talent and not out of fear your country will lose if you cast your second vote to (someone with) real talent'.
Others were more sarcastic, like Malaysian blogger KlubbKidd who claimed Asian Idol broke 'the Ten Commandments'.
He wrote: 'There goes the 'thou shalt not worship false idols' with the win (by Hady) and 'thou shalt not steal' with the robbing of the glory of three very much more worthy talents (in Mike, Jaclyn and Mau) who so deserved the title more than the pretty boy who tried to sing.'
But Mr Anthony Ong, president of Hady's fan club, prefers to believe his idol's triumph wasn't an accident.
Together with four other members, the 26-year-old multimedia producer flew to Jakarta to support Hady, casting 'a few hundred votes' each.
Mr Ong said: 'No one can be sure which theory is true or not. I'm sure some voted strategically, but I believe the rest voted on talent, appeal and likability.
'Anyway, Asians have already chosen Hady and they have to live with it. He shone the most, compared to the rest who may have amazing voices but can't sell.
'It's a big achievement for him and for all of us in Singapore. We are overjoyed.'
Asian Idol host Soo Kui Jien added: 'At the end of the day, whether he's deserving or not, he won fair and square. And nobody can take that away from him.'
When confronted with the theory, a fatigued Hady - who only got two hours of sleep early yesterday morning - shrugged the speculation off.
He told The New Paper over the phone from Jakarta: 'People can have their own opinions and theories.
'I was the underdog in the competition... I was prepared to hug whoever was going to win.
'But I still believe that in terms of sincerity and connecting with the audience, I did pretty well.'

Ken: Hady has Malay market advantage
KEN Lim, Singapore's rep on the Asian Idol judging panel, countered the controversial theory with his own.
Said the Hype Records director, who's also Hady Mirza's boss: 'You cannot 'get lucky' with six different territories.
'I don't think voters from the region think so much into it. They are the type who are not so concerned about strategy, but vote for whom they like enough to want to spend money on.'
He felt that strong vocalists like Jaclyn Victor, Mau Marcello, Mike Mohede and Phuong Vy ended up 'fighting among themselves', which paved the way for India's Abhijeet Sawant and Hady - who are 'a different sort of artiste' - to come from behind.
'Hady had the advantage of singing in Malay and reaching out to Indonesia and Malaysia, while Abhijeet was handicapped by language barrier and wrong choice of song,' he added.
Ken revealed that after watching the first round of performances - where Hady sang Taufik Batisah's Malay song Berserah - he sensed that 'this boy has a chance'.
He said: 'I realised that he had the best balance out of all of them. I'm a commercial person, and I was looking at how the Asian Idol must appeal to audiences across Asia, beyond a voice with power and range.'
So what does being the first-ever Asian Idol mean for Hady's hitherto tepid music career?
Ken, who is working on his protege's second album, said: 'It makes our work easier, now that he's more recognised.
'But competing in the commercial market against established acts is a different ball game altogether.'

Now, that made my day. Sarcastic eh? I'm try and work it up to something in the future... still it was worth a laugh to note my observations could have been so met with opposition. Whether it's a reality TV show, or even an inter nation competitions, there are always those who will never get criticism and will always mark it as opposition. Whatever. Ignorance is bliss - and stupidity is contagious.

Sigh... facts are facts, but I suppose you only see what you want to. Que sera sera.
It's a little funny people are still ferreting that entry of mine to b****h about my disagreement with the results... whatever...funny little people.

Phew!

Hari ni aku memang konsep headless chicken, running about cam tak betul. Mana tak nya, banyak siot assignment hari nih! Pergh!

Siang aku ada perjumpaan sikit about noon, and once abih, aku lari ke izzi, my second destination tempat geng Ebi Fan Club berkumpul tuk celebrate Ebi's belated birthday. Sampai pun sudah past 4pm, about two hours late! Tapi better late than never kan?

And in a while, joined by Nikki and Azmi. Patutnya ada kawan sorang agik, tapi dia tido kot (walaopon tamau ngaku kan!)

Kalau biasa-biasa lately aku malas nak amik pic, entry hari nih memang banyak pic, so brace yourselves. Dan kalau korang tak nampak, salahkan diri sendiri sebab pakai dial-up zaman broadband nih ek - or complain ISP korang pasal problem line korang - kalau pic asik time out sebelom load.

Before finish, said a quick goodbye to as many people as possible and aku made a run for it untuk ke Dataran Merdeka untuk Konsert Pelancaran Suria FM. Hopped into a cab. The trip itself took less than ten minutes, tapi sempat layan cabbie tuh bincang pasal radio, Erra Fazira dan Engku Emran, politik semasa, road blocks and protests... pening lagik.

But he got me to Dataran Merdeka quickly enough, despite the jam sebab dia cam baik sangat celah sana sini carik jalan tercepat. Balasan layan dia sembang walaupon tak larat kot.
Konsert of course dah mid-way (ok la tuh, dapat aku miss show binatang sekor ni yang memang aku tanak pun tengok muka dia yang sakai berangan vogue tuh - sapa ek rasanya?)

Perfect end, to a perfectly fun but perfectly busy day. Hope you guys had fun on the hectic kelam kabut activities here as much as I did going through them.

Salam Aidilfitri? Already???!!!

Actually yang Salam Aidilfitri tu, album Raya Akademi Fantasia, yang biasa time camnih, will be released. Tahun ni, like the last five years, ada ler recording (for some of the kids, the only they'll every make - cruel but true).

Kali ni punya though, bukan je ngan meka dari musim kelima, tapi also ada featuring gituh, which includes the likes of Khai, Zahid, Mawi, Faizal with Mila in one song. Kira lagu juara juara ler, kecuali Vince (yang diganti ngan Khai sebagai wakil musim pertama as runner-up). And if you're asking bila meka nak wat rakaman lagu ngan Vince tuh, tunggu. Memang ada perancangan if everything goes to plan.

Semalam gi Bora Ombak tuk majlis berbuka, sekali ngan pelancaran album Salam Aidilfitri, selain pelancaran VCD karaoke dak botak yang Qasidah, Berzanji dan Doa Berlagu (did I get that right?)

Seronok gak jumpa kaum kuarga Akademi Fantasia, as I think musim ni yang paling aku tak keep in touch ngan bebudak. I dunno... for me the magic tuh tak cam dulu. Again, kalao musim musim dulu, until today we keep in touch. Something about the current batch ni cam takde magic.

Bukan nak kata meka kurang dari segi bakat ke rupa ke apa... just... tak de umphh!!! Still it was fun to meet everyone...ada yang da lama tak nampak, tak jumpa, tak kena carut.. heh!

Si Faizal jer takde antara senarai meka dalam album, alkisahnya tak sihat. Yeah, right. Anyhoo, ni ada pics yang sempat aku snap. Aku mash everything together into one pic. And then ngan Roslan Aziz. Me and Roslan have never really seen eye to eye on a lot of things, and I'll be the first to admit that.

But, we did this time. Pasal isu lagu Indo kat radio yang kecoh seminggu dua nih. Well, at least for someone yang first jejak Indonesia sebelum Search even, masa zaman dia bak Sheila Majid, dan yang tau susah bagaimananya nak langkah masuk industri kat tempat orang, he is hardly bitter like some people I know of, who is willing to call for sekatan demi kepentingan sendiri and fear of competition.

Oh well... but I won't bore you guys with details of our conversation. Berapa posting pasal isu tu, entry ni rehat sikit bab tuh.

Sempat kacau Yasmin Hani yang wat recording program dia. Ni pose istimewa bagi meka yang join forum dan carut Hani memacam. Yeap, she knows what's being said kids, so I would gossip responsibly if I were you.

Wachaa pakai microphone? Ganas siot! Muka pun maintain vogue dalam evil tuh! Heh... love you babe!

Ingat tak lagik cartoon ni? The Thundercats.
It was big zaman 80an dulu. The same time cartoons like Silverhawks, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Transformers, Smurfs, My Little Pony, Jem dan sebagainya menjadi bahan wajib tonton for kids all over the country (unless you had a bad childhood minus TV, or couldn't afford one)

Anyway, berita terbaru aku baca smalam, selain dari Transformers, Thundercats pun nak ada movie da.

Kira banyak gak cartoons dari zaman 80an jadik movie ni. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (burok gila...versi Dolph Lundgren dulu tapi skang akan ada another version), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, terbaru ni G.I. Joe...and now Thundercats.

Tak sabar lak bila meka nak wat M.A.S.K.

Tu tetap my favourite.

Or how about Jem?

I know a lot of people yang still remember how to sing the theme song (Jem is adventure...ooo...Jem...Jem is excitement...ooo... Jem...fashion and favour, glamour and glitter...Jem! etc)

Looks like Hollywood skang tengah layan skrip dari adaptasi katun 80an ni... standard la kalao da satu movie genre tuh hit, mesti meka all out buat agik.

Tapi details tak berapa clear la kalau tuk Thundercats movie ni sebab dalam perancangan agik.
Setakat ni meka hanya putuskan skrip je.

Kalau ikutkan sumber Esquire, ni lah cast list sebelah kanan tuh yang ditentukan setakat ni, which is Hugh Jackman as Lion-O and Jessica Simpson sebagai Cheetara.

Kononnya la....

Ok la kot...sebab adalah rupa cam the original cartoon characters kot.... tapi Hugh Jackman da jadik Wolverine cam tak besh lak kalao dia jadik Lion-O. Aku mesti teringat dia bak watak Wolverine.

Jessica Simpson looks totally hot though and I definitely think she's so right for Cheetara.

And how about that irritating character of Snarf yang memang menyakitkan hati tuh? Wonder if they'll use CGI for him.

Still it should be interesting to see how they do the casting for it and whether the cartoon adaptation will be big tak.

Aku personally think it's a waste of time nak tengok a bunch of oversized cats fight a mummy...but for nostalgia's sake ok kot.

Walaopon even then I found it funny that Lion-O slalu letak Sword of Omens tuh celah kangkang dia and yelled "Hoooooooo" everytime it grew longer and longer. Very the sexual innuendo ok...evem when I was a kid.

While I thought that was the actual cast list, apparently there's another one out. Which one betul aku tatau lah.

This one has said that Thundercats : The Movie would star Mathew McConnaughey as Liono, Ed Harris as Mumm-Ra, Tea Leoni as Cheetara, Wesley Snipes as Panthro, and David Carradine as Tygra.

The poster they had was this.

Upon checking closer I read that it claimed that the movie would be released Memorial Day 1998!!!

But the first one is a bona fide one, so memang confirm ada movie...and this second poster memang hoax la.

But then after surfing a little bit more, dapat info OFFICIAL dari Warner Bros. Click HERE if you want to know the official word on the production.

The movie will be animated like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... and not live action... so that kind of settles it.

Takpe la... risau kang kalao live action kang rupa cam ni lak. Lagik keji time tu. I think people should be banned from dressing up as cartoon characters if they bear absolutely no semblance to the actual characters despite the make up and costumes. Erm... aku surfing came across pic mamat ni pakai cam Lion-O.

Now...I don't know what his motivation was, but I think he can safely put the costume away now. It's just so...wrong!!!

Heh... it's so...disturbing! Anyway sepanjang hari semalam aku sibukkan diri ngan keja je. I think this week has seriously been minggu paling produktif aku,

After spending the whole day working, sampai tak sempat join ajak kengkawan yang meriah kumpul kat Restoran Kampung Pandan tuk layan Shawal chat.ngan fan club nya online. Tokei kedai da call awal awal tanya nak join ke tak... tapi tak sempat aku join.

Penasihat Dafi FC lak ada meeting, and pas dia abih, dia dan Dafi bertemankan Dekna join sekali. So when aku finally free about midnight, aku join meka kat Cheras Downtown. Juan ada sekali...adik Shawal kaki amik gambar candid tak abih pun ada.

Dalam jalan jalan memasing shopping la.

Semua beli barang...kecuali Ajami dan Dafi kot.

Tapi ada orang yang tak betul ni, orang beli barang sikit sikit (aku beli kasut, Vern beli selipar, Shawal beli selipar tuk pakai kat jamban dan Dekna beli baju)...dia lak ni, borong!!!

Da nampak bukan cam orang datang beli barang... cam dia lak yang nak feeling bukak gerai berniaga. Konon beli mainan tuk family day dia nak tolong settle. Iyolah!!!

Merasalah side income wat business kot jual mainan. Heh!! Matilah aku kena carut pasnih!

Jalan zig zag sana sini... cari apa yang leh. Seriously they need to have more late night markets like this.

Yang aku tau kat Danau Kota, Uptown (tak suka yang skang, like the old one), and kat Shah Alam.

Kalao Singapore siap ada Mustaffa Centre, kenapa la local authorities tak galakkan 24 hour businesses. Dulu tak silap aku Tesco Puchong penah nak buat 24 jam tapi tak diluluskan or something.

Abih yang nocturnal creatures like us nak wat apa? Tambah lagik kalao nocturnal AND shopaholic!

So we walked around... memula kami enjoy je eyeing the stuff on sale. Tapi last last jadik circus light light bila tiga orang tuh sibuk wat aktiviti bergambar.

Merasalah kena interview pelbagai.

Daripada ramai ramai yang tegur meka, ada akak yang niaga accessories wanita nih yang muka familiar. I don't know why muka dia cam aku penah nampak, tapi janji walaupon da lewat malam, tetap maintain vogue pelbagai pakai glitters and all ok.

Yang aku terkejut light light, ada ke dia tanya Shawal kalao aku bodyguard meka???!!!

Aiyo!!! Perlu ke aku jadik bodyguard!!!

Owh...seronok ek ko carut aku Shawal!!! Dah ler bak adik ko yang asik nak snappy gambar mengaibkan aku ek... (aku hengat woiii!!! tunggu giliran ko aku snappy casual!!!)

After pusing entah berapa round sebab takde pattern jalan yang terancang, pusing sana pusing sini... we all wanted to end our little excursion ke Downtown.

Aku nak minum dan makan as did Vern.Yang lain ikut je. Dekna nak balik sebenarnya sebab not only dia tak sihat, esok dia kena balik Penang. So Dafi volunteer ler nak leave too sebab nak send her balik.

So we made our way to the medan selera there. Baru nak dapat air jer, both Dafi dan Dekna muncul balik. Alkisahnya meka da nak sampai ke keta or something, then ada rempit kacau. Cam lahanat sangat dak dak motor nih.

Hish...mampos la korang berangan naik basikal bermotor tuh berangan sangat. Keji tau nak kacau kacau anak dara orang tuh... ni yang nak muncul bodyguard in me gituh. Aku volunteer nak hantar meka ke keta. Shawal nak join escort, harus ler kena perli ngan aku, tinggi kurus angin tiup melayang ada ati ek nak jadik bodyguard (balas dendam dia gelak aku masa akak tuh tanya aku bodyguard meka dia gelak aku).

Heh...last last decided meka join kita minum dulu so we could leave together later.

So borak punya borak... mood aku gila sebenarnya sebab after the whole week of rushing about and quite some unncessary drama from the weekened before and a couple days later, I really needed to just let it all out. Naik gila sampai akak jaga kedai pun melayan.

So decided nak wat photography sikit!

Oops...wrong end of the cat! Heh... comel tak kucing ni trying to get a drink out of the sink?

Akibat Thundercats, sibuk ngan kucing lak tetiba.

But saw these couple of cats and had to photograph them. Suka sangat binatang! Some people I know and I've had to put up with through the years may not have the fur, but they're more binatang than some of these animals (except they're lazier and less cuter)... so I think I am pretty good with them.

Hope this provides variety in the pics I provide here, sebab ada makhluk yang sibuk masuk blog aku nih, tapi keji aku tak abih abih.

Heh...I suppose it never occured to them my job is to know people, and if people want to be friends with me, jangan lah jeles lak.

Pening siot ngan bangsa bangsa camni... ada jer menyemak.

Tak puas ati bukak blog sendiri, meroyan la pasal hidup sendiri. Ni nak jaga tepi kain orang, nak sibuk kehidupan orang dan pastu nak keji.

Don't hate me cause I lead a more interesting life than you. Anyway, aku tau mesti ada yang nak pics meka bertiga kan, tapi sebenarnya sebab sibuk borak dan sebagainya, I didn't really take many usable shots.

Lagik satu malas kot pikirkan kang nak transfer la... nak upload la... letih ok! Benda tuh nampak je senang tapi lambat kalao nak letak bebanyak.
