POCC yourself!

Are these ladies hot, or are they HOT? Presenting, the ambassadors of the Power Over Cervical Campaign.

These are the ladies (Serena C was missing) who are the faces of the campaign, termasuk myself as the digital ambassadors among a few more others.

And we are all sending out a message to women - get you plumbing checked! Or in more crude terms - service your cervix!

As long as you are a woman who has achieved puberty and are sexually active (tak kisah la ko maintain virgin in public, tapi as long as you have sex) please do go for a pap smear. Sad that so many ladies think skali seumur hidup da cukup. Ish... takleh gituh. Bukan susah, bukan sakit, dan bukan mahal pon., So pepandai la. Demi masa depan sendiri.

Ada penawarnya gituh - but check tuh penting. Click Power Over Cervical Campaign for more info. Pada kaum hawa, please lah sedar kepentingan detection and prevention. Equip yourself ngan pengetahuan.

Bahagian tu takde spare parts ok! Tambah agik, tu aset wanita ok!

Hah... aku tanak berleter. Pepandai korang. Kang aku kuarkan statistik ada yang horror.

Anyway... jap. Da pon kuar berita a few days ago Vanessa dah bertunang ngan Moots dari Popshuvit kan.

Here's the ring!!! Yeay!

They make a good couple and I wish them all the best.

Jap... ni kat venue event pelancaran and bloggers gathering tadik. Stylo ala KLPAC. Tapi apakah ini... art exhibit apakah?

Motif batang mop bersepah?

Anyway celah event Power Over Cervical Campaign aku sempat ke TV3 jap tuk open house Raya meka. Gegas sana lepak jap je. Sempat snappy pics ni je. Si Aizat menggila! Heh! Dlam celah kesibukan kami semua group one corner je.

Ni abang aku. Heh.. Datuk Seri Farid Ridzuan yang camera shy gituh! Nak amik gambar sorang dia mesti malu nak mampuih.

So kena ajak Rina pose ngan dia. Rina lak... mula mula tanak mai, sebab dia pakai ala sporty for the Power Over Cervical Campaign event. So in the event, wardrobe punya nasihat - ni how we cover up. Pic ngan DS.

Dia minat Datuk Siti Nurhaliza katanya. So aku pon adjust tuk boss ku snappy ngan Siti. Tima kasih Siti.

Yang pentingnya, pastu Endie tanya aku... sama tak gaya cam Datuk K. Matilah aku! Pengsan aku gelak. Siot je tau.

Aduh ok la.. ni ada sesi lepak dan gosip ngan kengkawan pas the hectic day.

Feel it right

Had my nephew's birthday party earlier today. Whoopie...what fun.

Sorry if I hardly sound ecstatic. Aku ni jenis not into family gatherings of any sort. Memang aku manja dan rapat ngan keluarga, but it's more of my immediate family than anything else.

But ni anak cousin aku yang ok ngan aku...so boleh la.

Pas abih, rushed to delicious at marc residences.

It was for a tea party. Matilah feeling nak tea party bagai.

Sponsored by Sabah Tea and organised by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) and National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), it's a tea party with a difference.

It's to raise awareness for cancer, specifically breast cancer in this case. Being the digital ambassador for POCC or the Power Over Cervical Cancer, this was for me something linked to my role.

The project aims to encourage fellow Malaysian's to host a fun tea party for friends, family or workmates at their chosen venue and at the same time do their bit for charity by making a small donation to raise funds that will be channeled to BCWA and NCSM in an effort to support them to continue to offer their services to the public.

Since BCWA is there, sure have some "teaching material" to teach us how to discover different breast conditions, and learn to check for lumps. There are "breast with no lumps", "breast with fibrocystic tissue" (harder than the normal one) and "breast with lumps" (you can feel there is a hard stuff inside the breast).

The tea party launch was for the media and bloggers, where sukarelawan, who were also breat cancer survivors, gave us a little insight into prevention by detection and so on.

While some of you may laugh, women, please do know the difference on how to detect lumps. And no, guys, learning about it doesn't mean you can volunteer to check it for the women.

Thanks so much to everyone, including delicious for the great spread. Please... do take time to surf these sites and learn a little bit that can help save you, or someone who is dear to you.

Click The Breast Cancer Welfare Association, The National Cancer Society of Malaysia and Power Over Cervical Cancer to find out more. And guys... don't laugh it off, cause you should be worrying about how it affects you too. And yes, men get breast cancer too. And don't let me even mention testicular cancer.

Wreck in pieces Pt 2

Sambungan dari entry semalam...

Anyway, so after I was over at Pudu Jail in the evening, gegas gi layan bola (hebat ke Portugal belasah People's Republic of Korea 7-0 bila Ronaldo tetap hado - matilah emo!) before continuing on to Pudu to watch the sad demolition of another historic site.

Masa sampai tuh da beratus orang kumpul. I was there before 10pm, and already it was a packed crowd.

Everyone gathered all along the front wall and entrace. Lama-lama aku pun join orang ramai dok kat tengah jalan kat divider under the monorail tracks.

We waited and waited. Dengar kol 10 malam nak start demolishing. Tapi tak nampak pe pe pon. Ada antara orang ramai panjat access through the side tower of the entrance dan naik ke bahagian atas pintu gerbang. Wanted to pun, tapi the last thing I need is to be prosecuted for trespassing into private property (being old makes you less adventurous and more practical).

After over an hour, polis trafik mai saman orang yang dok park haphazardly along the road which was seriously jammed.

And then I got word from a friend. Rupanya they started demolising the back portion of the prison perimeter walls first. Ni some of the pics yang sempat aku amik.

It was a sad sight indeed. Yesterday night was sad. It went down as history - as the night history went down.

Ni gambar dari bahagian dalam along the perimeter walls. Masa ni orang luar dihalau cause they wanted to continue ngan usaha merobohkan.

Ni some other pics... I don't what else to say. The walls fell fast...

Not unlike the Berlin Wall (sounds dramatic when I say it), ramai took parts of the rubble, batu batu yang da pecah, as a reminder of the walls that once stood that house some of the biggest convicts in the country.

As of about midnight on, they had moved to the middle section of the prison. Aku dok tengok sedih je. Aduh...

In front, most people still didn't know what was going on. Aku balik je pastu... couldn't stand around to see the archway demolished.

By the way, ramai tanya ada tak benda mistik ke haper. Well sorry to disappoint you guys, but masa aku masuk - yes the place looked creepy. After all it is, or was, a prison.

Tapi there was nothing extremely freaky ke apa for real. Walaopon aku ni kan kuat noya tengok benda pelik.

Ko nak pelik... hah.. ni masa balik. Ni bukan kes orang kena langgar accident ye. Tapi ni la the 'development' that KL has.

Ok la... letih nak update pepanjang. Didn't get enough sleep last night pas balik lambat and was up early this morning.

Oh by the way - thanks to Pak Nil. Sapa yang dengar Era pagi tadik would have heard him call me to ask to share my experience about what happened at Pudu Jail.

Anyway, pagi tadi went for the media launch of the Rev Up Momentum! It was for the Power Over Cervical Cancer campaign.

Ladies, pada adik-adik pompuan ke kakak-kakak ke makcik-makcik diluar sana yang membaca, please take some time to go to that website. Educate yourself to protect yourself. In a country where sex is a taboo, anything related, including cervical cancer - is never discussed.

It's the second biggest killer among women, so again, guys kalao korang can tell the women in your lives, whether it's your mother, sister, girlfriend, wife, daughter.. read up on it and assess your risk here. It takes only a couple of minutes, but can save you.

One of the many ambassadors of POCC is Genevieve Sambi. She's a beauty queen, model - and cervical cancer survivor.

Here are some other ambassadors of POCC. Recognize them? That's Gen and Niki Cheong, Rina Omar, Sarimah Ibrahim and me, myself and I.

Thanks to POCC for the belief in all of us (I'm very proud to have been representing POCC). Also to the other partners, especially Reebok which I have to mention for the LOVELY outfit I was wearing (especially the Zig Tech shoes which just came to Malaysia siap lom launch lagik tapi aku da pakai).

Argh... I need rest now. Will blog more later.

Kris Allen!

Ok just chilling at Starbucks kat Gardens in MidValley. Tadik sampai ngan sumpah seranah seribu sebab traffic walaopon clear, nak parking nak 20 minit (elak Zon A lain kali!) - lom start.. seb baik.

Banyak pics aku snap masa press conference, but I won't upload them now. Too many to share. Will post them in the next entry

So anyway after several questions for the press conference, we all got our passes and waited about for our interviews.

And when it was our turn, had about 20 minutes (or lesser) with Kris. Adorable! He really is a super sweet guy.

And when we were done, mintak camwhore sat. Amik ko! First pic blur, second pic buruk! Sentap!

Went for dinner pastuh. After we were done, went through MidValley menangis cause a HUGE crowd was gathered for the meet and greet with Kris.

Only the first 200 were supposed to get a chance to meet Kris, but apparently people had been in line from as early as 10am onwards. Damn! And the meet and greet was scheduled at 6pm!!! Rajin gila bebudak nih!

Check out the crowd.

After that ended, there was a stampede as he was led out to a waiting vehicle. Padahal dok sebelah je kat Gardens. Merasalah!

Anyway.. dropped by Starbucks for a coffee and had really evil look from some fans. Then I noticed that I had this on.

Oops! Forgot Kris had autographed my tag!

Heh.. showoff! Nak wat camna. Da ada...

Just about to go in for the showcase. Will update pics from the press conference later from my camera. These pics were taken and emailed from my Blackberry, so expect better pics after this.

And also of the show of course.

Until then... for those of you at the ballroom see you in a while and let's party on.

By the way... anyone seen The Star today?

Creating awareness on cervical cancer

THE National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), supported by GlaxoSmithKline Pharma-ceutical (GSK) launched Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC) campaign in July last year, aimed at educating and creating awareness about cervical cancer.

According to the World Health Organisation, more than 500,000 women globally will be diagnosed with cervical cancer and 280,000 will die from it each year.

Here you go: Choong presenting the mock cheque to medical director of NCSM Dr Saunthari Somasundaram.

Therefore, the POCC campaign aims to highlight these escalating incidences of cervical cancer and to urge women to protect themselves against the disease.

Five popular bloggers have come forward to join NCSM and GSK to support the campaign. They are Serena C (twitter.com/serenachoong oralivenotdead.com/serenac), Niki Cheong (nikicheong.com/blog), Joyce (kinkybluefairy.net), Joe Lee (klubkidd.com) and Yvonne Foong (yvonnefoong.com).

These “Digital Ambassadors” will educate and create awareness on cervical cancer and encourage their readers to participate in the Cervical Cancer Risk Questionnaire on the website, www.pocc.com.myor www.cancer.org.my

Serena, Niki, Joyce, Joe and Yvonne were formally introduced during a POCC Pink Mobile appreciation event held at Twentyone Kitchen+Bar, one of the POCC campaign’s official partners. Other official partners include Pureology, Redken, and Stage Cosmetics.

The campaign had an initial target of 10,000 people to complete the Cervical Cancer Risk Questionnaire. NCSM surpassed the target and at the end December 2009, 14,526 people took the Cervical Cancer Risk Questionnaire. GSK presented RM14,526 to NCSM at the appreciation event.

“Owing to the overwhelming response to the POCC Pink Mobile, we will continue to engage the public in 2010 by going nationwide, making stops in Ipoh, Penang, Malacca and Johor,” said GSK Pharmaceutical Malaysia Vaccines Business unit director Choong Kit Son.

“For 2010, we will continue to support NCSM with the RM1 donation for each Cervical Cancer Risk Questionnaire taken.

“We urge everyone in this room to help us spread the risks on cervical cancer and encourage your family members and friends to learn more about the disease at www.pocc.com.my or www.cancer.org.my,” added Choong.

Buat kaum Hawa

What has the topic of the entry got to do with anything?

Sebelum apa-apa, aku nak wat entry ni sepenuhnya dalam Bahasa Malaysia. Kenapa? Kerana aku nak keseluruhan kaum Hawa yang membaca blog aku PLEASE read this sampai habis.

Ini untuk korang. Khas buat korang.

So tolonglah.. baca ni sampai habis. Beberapa minit saja dapat mengubah hidup anda.

So kepada makcik-makcik, kakak-kakak, adik-adik... tolong ek baca.

Sebelum ni aku ada sebut pasal kempen Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC).

Kenapa korang patut amik tau?

Setiap dua minit, seorang wanita meninggal dunia akibat barah serviks.

Amik ujian risiko DISINI.

Jadi tunggu apa lagi... tolongla.

So please, please take the test now. For yourself.

Kalao anda tahan baca sampai tahap ni, aku berterima kasih sangat lah. It means so much to me.

Petang tadi, masa pengumuman rakan blog kepada kempen POCC, aku bangga sangat klubbkidd.com menjadi salah satu wakil. I am so proud to help try bring this cause to all the lovely ladies who read this blog.
