Yeay Faizul

Congratulations to all the contestants of Akademi Fantasia 2013. Especially Faizul who won last night.

I am especially proud because Faizul was on of those that I spotted as being a potential winner by the fourth week of competition - and I'm glad he proved me right.

Plus, being a former band boy, I'm glad to see him break the stereotype of a non-musician champion.

Have to admit though was disappointed Aisyah was at sixth because I thought she deserved a higher placing that that.

Still... congratulations to all the finalists. You guys worked hard. Just remember what I told you during my class. This is only the beginning of many trials to come. It won't be easy - and a lot of of you are going to disappear... except for those who persevere.

Thanks Faizul for delivering Sepasang Sayap well enough. You are a credit to the composer who wrote the song for you - in Amir.

For you guys who are curious - the song is Amir's wedding gift to his wife. Baca lirik bebetul... mesti dapat faham...

One more song that caught my attention was Mimpi as sung by Aisyah. Yang tulis kawan-kawan gak... nice one Faizal Tahir!

Now... let's see what the kids have to offer in the music industry....

So another feather in Amir's cap. He is the first former reality show contestant to have written for the immediate next season. Starting the year with Anugerah Juara Lagu, looks like it's going to be a good closing of the year.

We're not going to Anugerah Juara Lagu in January next year. Unfortunately Penghibur Jalanan didn't make the cut - which I wasn't disappointed at since I knew it was a competition song. However, a little sad Gelisah didn't get to make it to the semifinal stage to compete because I know the jury would have found it interesting.

Oh gambar bawah throwback malam sebelum we performed at second semifinals of Muzik Muzik. Takpe... tak kayak we had fun. Besides... there's always next year.

Backstage

Hari ni the day they decided on sapa layak Anugerah Juara Lagu 25 lepas the final semifinal. Aku separuh akhir ni, layan persembahan semua dari belakang pentas, nak amik feel camna debaran semua.

And also sebab dapat gosip dan lepak ketika show, borak-borak ngan semua kengkawan.

And here's your peek at what happens backstage.

Propkesayangan ramai ni. Kaki ala ala Upin dan Ipin ni da kena basuh la berkali bebudak pakai. Heh! Si Black dan Hafiz dan macam kembar Siam melekat kat badan da.

Sempat snappy si Tomok dan Black bersama... sebelum Tomok dihalau untuk tugasan dia... iaitu...

Tuh dia. Tugas Tomok? Nak jadi aerial bagi satu-satunya TV yang hado kat belakang pentas ni, yang bergantung live feed. Reception lak hado, so azab la semua kena harap reception ok. Ni si Tomok kena dera sebab dia berdiri sebelah TV tetiba baru ada gambar dan sound. Merasalah dia dipaksa jadik aerial demi kepuasan semua menonton backstage.

Comel tak kak Dibah pose dok rileks je. Si Ana dan Yuna pon ada, sempat snappy pic ni just before meka panggil semua onstage.

Belakang pentas lak ramai berkumpul. Ni snap pic API - Angkatan Pemuda Indie, three members at least ngan Din (Estranged), Loque (now known as monoLoque dan AJ (Popshuvit) sekali ngan Sam dari Bunkface.

And some others in Lan, Stacy, Adira, Ana dan Shahir.

And then - the announcement. Well, not yet. Ni masa semua tunggu ketika nak umum. Sempat agik tuh main-main atas pentas. I like this year sebab all the performers (most of them anyway) can get along and mesra, performing for the fun of it - and rileks je. Takde feel competition sangat sebab semua tak tekankan soal bersaing.

And finally - ni semua yang layak.

Still - it was a happy night, save for Aizat takde which cam lacking lak with the whole gang. It's going to be a great AJL - here's hoping for the best jury to make the right choices when the show is on next year (cam lama sangat padahal sebulan lebih je)

Banana leaf and song

Since I've been updating so much about food, and some really yummy choices at that - malam tadi melantak banana leaf.

Sesuai dengan konsep pratonton filem Appalam! Sebenarnya singgah je, tak sempat tengok pon sebab kena gegas ke Muzik Muzik sepatuh akhir kedua. Saja drop by to give moral support katanya.

Antaranya pada tuan director, Aflin. Comei tak anak dia.

Also, was there to catch up jap ngan Jac. Suka la dia pakai saree. She looks good in anything, but I think pakaian tradisional orang kita the best, tak kira la bangsa apa pon.

Pastu, gegas ke Sri Pentas 2, Plaza Alam Sentral. Celah layan persembahan backstage, melepak ngan kengkawan yang membawa lagu-lagu yang tercalon. So what happens backstage?

Well... ada yang pose sakan tuk photos camnih...

...ada yang sibuk bersiap...

...ada kengkawan menggila main ngan props yang tertinggal belakang pentas...

...ada pas bersiap, sempat camwhore ngan kengkawan...

...ada yang mesej tunang... (pandai je aku speku)

...dan ada yang bagi candid shot gila...

It was a fun seminfinal show, and the suspense is going to be thick next week. Tak sabar.

Tadi ke Sri Pentas 2 kat Plaa Alam Sentral tuk separuh akhir Muzik Muzik yang pertama.

Sebelom aku bagi banyak agik pics (takde la banyak sangat), ni apa yang aku spot.

Motif asap bagai coming out from the toilet? Shahir to the rescue!

After kicking some monster smoke, he smiles.

Kata kau! Sebenarnya smoke machine je meka pasang dalam bilik air tengah show, sebelom bawak keluar for one of the acts.

Aku malas list out, sebab top six tak confirm apa apa, so baik kita tunggu je keputusan. Looks like the competition is going to be among bands and mostly from the indie community this year.

Seronok dapat berkumpul ketika event cam anugerah dan sebagainya, is mostly because the industry berkumpul and dapat catch up.

Siang tadik ada press conference Muzik Muzik, tuk undian separuh akhir. Best gila dapat jumpa bukan saja kengkawan artis, tapi juga PRs dan sebagainya. Times like this la masa the family of the business dapat spend time together dalam tengah keja.
