The OFFICIAL!

Here's he OFFICIAL video of the Irretwistible flashmob we did.

Again, thank you to everyone who took part in my vision. Street performances are freaking hard to coordinate, ni kira pengalaman yang mahal walaopon da beberapa flashmob kita buat.

Thank you a million time goes to my J Squared team! Also to the fantastic performers in the 130 something singers led by Puan Siti Hajar Ismail (meletop kita, kan cikgu?), the percussionists comprising of (and I have to get this right when it comes to the name of the groups) - Batteryheadz, No Noise Percussions and KL Drumline Corp (KLDC) led by Zahrein (you guys my extended family la... Bukit Kiara fam, holler!) as well as Pesawat.

It was difficult as all hell to put together as musically, it was challenging on so many levels. But we did it!

Hope all of you like this, and if you do, pleae blog, Tweet or do whatever you can to spread the love for all the street performers in Malaysia. There will be more!

Konsert Akademi Fantasia - minggu pertama (Part 2)

Aiyo.. tak penah aku wat review balik selewat nih. So sorry guys. Fell asleep masa edit dan upload pic dan lagu. Leh? Matilah aku dok ngadap laptop, tetiba bangun ngan keypad embossed kat moka aku da.

Anyway, yesterday punya show, first of all, let me get down to pics aku amik of the surroundings. Merasalah get the trivial bits out of the way first.

Team Era... ado?

Me likey the critics seating

The critics for week one

The blog critics for week one (meraslaah berangan)

Kak Mah cantik siottttt... flawless!

The kids masa pas abih. My own cam nih. So you can imagine betapa dekatnya aku sampai takyah zoom sambil dok leh amik pic ni

And kedudukan pelajar ketika tutup undian

Ok, the first things I liked about the first concert sebab the stage. Walaupun pun ada yang tak minat, I prefer the layout sebab minimalistic and not two dimensional ala konsert sekolah. This is one break from the usual presentation yang aku rasa dapat berikan bebudak training nak biasakan diri ngan dunia sebenar. I mean... when was the last awards show or concert that had a simple stage yang gituh gituh jer kan in terms of layout. It allows freedom of movement, and the kids really need the skills nak navigate themselves through their performance. Kalao pandai, memang menonjol abih.

Apapon the stage design for me, mungkin akan appear berserabut to some... cause it's an idea you have to get used to. Think every major anugerah or show in the country. No one uses a two dimensional layout anymore. So bab ni aku stuju.

The FANTAStics, peminat yang dok dalam mosh pit tu, is an idea I like. sebab tu membenarkan fan club semua mempunyai ruang lebih dekat ngan pelajar kesayangan mereka. Oh ye.... ni pengumuman gak bagi semua fan club official (yang feeling official tak main ok!). Please contact me supaya the production can get you guys in the mosh pit. Ruang tu khas buat kelab peminat ok.

The lighting was nice and not too garish. Sebab sebelom ni semua warna pelangi on skali, kali ni there was more thought put into lighting. Bab house sound - macam down sikit... hopefully benda ni akan rectified soon. But this is a TV production, so sound quality for the home audience is a priority. Heh... aku dok dewan tatau la masa live broadcast camna. Nanti aku catch repeat.

In terms of production, kudos to the concert team for the good job. Aku personally puas aspek ni sebab aku rasa ni kelainan yang boleh diterima. It may take time to adapt, as it doesn't look like anything Akademi Fantasia concerts have been like before, tapi ni kira facelift yang makes the show more relevant to the actual industry in terms of menonjolkan performance.

Return of Adlin Aman Ramlie sebagai pengkritik aku suka, sebab he is one of the few people yang dipanggil who alwys does a good job. You just can't go wrong with him. But Edrie Hashim I think bias sikit pada mereka yang dia pilih ketika ujibakat (ampun bro!) and less forgiving to those yang not his choices. Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim monotonous sangat cara cakap. Jap... hidangkan Brands Innershine sebotol (uwaa... product placement nih) Heh....

Wardrobe? Minggu ni kisahnya personal style bebudak sebelum transformasi bermula kata Principal.

The location I like! Grand! Tapi panas siot!!! Peloh tujuh baldi! Dah lah tempat aku dok second row stage centre ada spotlight hala direct kat aku! Azab!!!

But because the show was more fluid with some changes, leh la aku enjoy cause tak draggy.

I also don't mind the taglines being gone cause it only worked for season two and three. Pastu cam ngada lak...

But one thing yang aku rasa susah aku nak terima perubahan, seperti peminat tegar Akaemi Fantasia yang lain, semestinya, ketiadaan persembahan lagu Menuju Puncak. That is the isi of the karipap, the beef patty in the burger, the sambal in the belacan (motif???)
Anyway, mungkin perubahan Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina ingin membawa mempunya tujuan tertentu, so we'll just have to see. She has made some drastic changes to the show dari segi aplikasi beberapa perkara - and the fans akan tentukan whether these changes will be good or not.

Bak kata Principal ketika sidang akhbar - "I want to break every tradition in Akademi Fantasia".
Setiap transformasi mesti mempunyai sebab. And permulaan transformasi Tiara memang mendadak yang peminat harus akur, inilah Akademi Fantasia hari ini mengikut visi dan misi Puteri Gunung Ledang, all the way from her first transformation yang dia sebut ketika PC tu ialah menetapkan yang "kasut mesti dipakai ketika di Akademi sebab itu adalah sekolah."

But with her vast experience, Tiara must know what she's doing, so peminat kena tunggu je tuk lihat hasilnya nanti. Dia telah berjanji untuk membawa perubahan yang mendadak by changing everything that is familiar about Akademi Fantasia. Merasalah Optimus Prime - Transformasi!

Merasalah.

Anyway, ni part korang tunggu. Review of student's performance.

Sadly enough, aku da wat keputusan... tiada pam jamban kali nih. Matilah korang carut aku lak kan.

Dengar dulu sebabnya. Matilah... dengar lak.. maksud aku baca ok!

Tahun sebelum sebelum ni, ramai tuduh aku bias when I pick based on performance, ability and their potential. Dan walaupun usually I'm proven right... it makes me look like I'm siding certain contestants, walaopon aku base on professional judgement.

Tahun ni aku diberi peluang untuk berkongsi ilmu untuk mengajar pelajar Akademi Fantasia about media communications. Peluang ni akan digunakan untuk directly advice the kids on what I think they're doing wrong, and teach them the tricks of the trade.

And since Akademi Fantasia is bigger than any of us - and it's about the fans - with respect to everyone out there, aku akan lebih memberikan constructive criticism here. Aku tanak sesiapa salah anggap, atau manipulasikan kritikan aku tuk pertikaikan my credibility and professionalism berkaitan kerja aku.

Betul kan?

So terima transformasi review aku tahun ni... and I hope you guys still stick with me.

Please note sesiapa nak pakai these pics below JANGAN CROP dan JANGAN EDIT my watermark out, atau azab la hidup ko kena sumpah tujuh generasi. Fan clubs especially can use there pics in their blogs or sites, tapi sila CREDIT and LINK me. It's only polite...

ADILA - Di Bawah Pohon Asmara
Rating : **
Kelebihan si Adila ni is her confidence. Sampai technical issues with her mic at the start pun, dia tak thrown off. So that's good. Sebab some of the other students seem to lack what she has in abundance.

Tapi banyak lagi Adila kena belajar dari segi teknik vocal as well as in terms of stage movements. She appeared contrived at times, and aku rasa pergerakan dia atas pentas should come more from her understanding of the song, and not as she thinks how it should be. More focus on her performance and finding her personal style would help a lot.

SIDI - Terima Kasih Cinta
Rating : -
I think the song was a little too big for Sidi. Kekurangan dia he has to learn how to deliver within limitations of his current range.

Sebenarnya basic idea dan keinginan untuk tonjolkan kelainan ada pada dia, which is good. However hope he pays more attention in class, as I think his weaknesses have been identified by the tenaga pengajar da selama ni. Tweak things here and there and he may be interesting to listen to.

ZIZI - Molek
Rating : ***
The show for the night really started with Zizi's performance. Kecuali dengan sikit isu stamina, which can be dealt with proper handling of breathing techniques, Zizi ni the first tuk aku, to earn recognition on stage sebagai a serious contender for the finals kalao dia teruskan prestasi dia.

YAZID - Penghujung Rindu
Rating : **
Sayang nervousness dia melampau sangat sampai affect performance dia. Honestly, I think Yazid has one of the most interesting voices in the competition. Kalao dia leh oversome that and work more on his vocals, he definitely can be one of the best.

ISMA - Sepi
Rating : **
I think she did a decent job. The only problem I have with Isma is she needs to discover more of herself through her voice.

Buat sekarang, aku belum sepenuhnya yakin dia mampu break away from penyakit klon. Gaya persembahan dan lenggok dia terlalu mengikut Datuk Siti Nurhaliza dan dia perlu mencari identiti dia dalam lagu.

She's another serious contender if she can avoid being labelled as trying to be someone else and bring out her unique expression of the tune she performs.

AKIM - Hatiku Kau Luka
Rating : **
Sayang.... Akim performed better than I expected, but not up to par with his potential. Kalao ikutkan, dia nih easily can be one of the best boys in the competition dengan pakej yang ada pada diri dia.

Kalao dia lebih fokus pada pembelajaran, aku yakin persembahan dia sudah lebih menyengat. All in all he did well enough.

CLAUDIA - Sempurna
Rating : ***
I'm impressed! Kerisauan aku dia tak mampu nak menonjolkan more of this song since it's very safe in comparison to the other songs that have more punch.

But apart from some issues with the low notes, Claudia, like Zizi, made the first concert memorable in comparison to the previous seasons of Akademi Fantasia at this early stage.

I have great expectations for her, so mintak mintak dia deal with her vocals to deliver a better. Unlike what many say of her as being a Dayang clone, I don't see that as I think she has a different tone, walaopun aku rasa make up dia bagi dia menyerupai Nandung.

HAFIZ - Lagu Kita
Rating : ****
This was undoubtedly the highlight of the night. Hafiz is a strange subject. Kalao dalam Diari dia langsung nampak colourless, and without character, onstage, he manages to bring out a whole new vibe to who he is.

Merasalah ni baru transformasi!!! Dari Herman Tino jadik Guy Sebastian ok! My only concern with him is sama macam dengan Isma, that he needs to cultivate his own unique approach any song he takes on.

Promising, and awal awal da booking minat orang tuk AFUNDI dia untuk ke minggu terakhir.

RINI - Elegi Sepi
Rating : *
Wrong song. It did nothing to showcase her vocals, but I think this is simply the case that a lot of the kids face. Meka masih tidak cukup arif untuk memilih lagu yang mampu menunjukkan segala kemampuan mereka.

Hard to judge her based on this performance and I think she would do much better on another song.

OBRI - Jeritan Batinku
Rating : *
Am very disappointed with Obri. For the best among the boys dari segi usaha dia sepanjang minggu pertama dalam Akademi, hasilnya tak seperti yang diharapkan.

He was one of the weakest of the boys, simply because I assume he allowed nerves to get in the way. Memandangkan minggu-minggu seterusnya ada elimination, Obri has to buck up a lot more to stay in the competition.

His case is simply one that reflects that it doesn't matter how much you try - at the end of the day, hasil atas pentas for that one song lebih penting anytime. Mintak mintak dia berusaha lebih in terms of gaining confidence onstage as well applying things he learns when it counts when it comes to movements onstage.

And hope it's pointed out that it's pointed out his voice is too thin for certain songs, and he needs the right tunes to showcase his ability.

AISHAH - Dan Sebenarnya
Rating : ***
I had fun with Aishah's version of the song. It was a good choice, and despite it not being one of those lagu yang nak melalak note setinggi gunung Everest - she did something great onstage.

She is one of the few pelajar yang aku nampak ada identiti sendiri walaopon sebelum ni aku tak nampak dia menyerlah langsung.

I think Aishah adalah salah satu pelajar yang paling kuat dalam Akademi Fantasia kali ni. It'll be interesting nak tengok apa dia akan lakukan minggu depan.

QHAUD - Phoenix Bangkit Dari Abu
Rating : **
I don't know... there's just something wrong with his performance. It was contrived.. macam di paksa paksa dan terikut suatu gaya yang dia da associate dengan lagu ini.

I hope dia mampu nak apply himself to a song. Sebab nyanyi lagu M. Nasir terikut, aku tak terbayang dia dalam tugasan lain bagaimana hasilnya.

Dari sudut vocal he has a lot to brush up - and sebab dia bukan cam Akim yang main main pun mampu 'lulus ujian', he has to work harder untuk minggu kedua untuk understand what is wrong with his performance.

RUBISA - Matahariku
Rating : **
Rubisa ni menghadapi masaalah sama dengan Qhaud. Entah kenapa aku rasakan persembahan dia kurang ikhlas dari segi penghayatan. It's a show, with the dramatics and all, but I hardly feel there's any attention to the essence of the tunes.

Banyak yang perlu diperbaiki lagi, but she undoubtedly has a good voice. Cuma dia kena faham aplikasi teknik yang perlu, dan bukan ikut suka sahaja dalam her execution. I have to puji her however she seems to have taken on some of the advice of the tenaga pengajar.

A little more attention to details and I think she can be serious competition

ARIL - Rahasia Perempuan
Rating : **
Kelemahan Aril ada penekanan dia pada aspek persembahan. Vocal wise he didn't seem to pay too much care, and disebabkan fokus dia pada persembahan gerak geri atas pentas tuh, it became a little comic.

With a unqiue tone to his voice, I think Aril needs to tone down (walaupon student lain kena up kan). He's got a lot fo energy which is good, tapi dia kena cut down sikit sebab terlalu hyper sampai benda tuh nampak kelam kabut dan trying too hard.

So that's my honest evaluation of the kids minus carutan. Sebenarnya kalao ikutkan aku rasa persembahan konsert minggu pertama impressive gak lah banding ngan musim musim lepas. There were hits and misses in terms of the kids' performance tapi overall not bad at all.

Kalao ikutkan, pilihan peribadi aku tak berapa jauh dari kedudukan AFUNDI ketika tutup, which you guys can see kat atas.

My personal choice based on performance? This is how I ranked them.

1. Hafiz
2. Claudia
3. Aishah
4. Zizi
5. Yazid
6. Rubisa
7. Akim
8. Isma
9. Adila
10. Aril
11. Rini
12. Obri
13. Qhaud
14. Sidi

Aduh.. letih la guys panjang sangat proses nak wat pics, lagu dan video. Ni nak lari ke Akademi da. Be back soon with more entries.

Apapon, setuju ke tidak pandangan aku, hope you guys Comment and tell me what you think.

PS - Check out links to other commentators on Akademi Fantasia yang leh caya. Katanya.. walaupun (matilah aku!)

LIVE!

Ok so I know I used a crappy blog poll service because it kept disappearing when I wanted to check the results. But anyway, here's what eventually the poll looked like. Thanks to the 101 of you who bothered to vote.

Looks like The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour is a favourite followed by Coldplay's Viva la Vida Tour and the Beyonce I Am... Tour. Following is Sticky & Sweet Tour by Madonna and a tie for fifth place for Katy Perry's Hello Katy Tour and Metallica's World Magnetic Tour,

Now... keep praying that I have good news coming soon. Thanks also to everyone for the extra suggestions you guys made. I will take it all into consideration.

Meanwhile, if korang leh suggest lagik kalao sudi.... which sporting legends would you like to see here?

I mean... think David Beckham making an appearance with Victoria, or Tiger Woods and so on.

Or what kind of musicals you want brought down here. Me prefer if the London cast of Phantom of the Opera could have a run here. But what do you think.

Anyway, back to the issue of concerts, yeap, Coldplay is NOT in the list for Sunburst KL 2009. While it was rumoured that the band would make the line up for the festival, Pineapple Concerts has issues the artistes involved and memang Coldplay takde.

But then again, I suppose you can keep hoping that they still will be a last minute inclusion... but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

After all, Pineapple has the whole Rihanna postponement to deal with, and they'll only find out later this month whether the show will indeed go on here in Kuala Lumpur.

Seeing as to how things are going - I have a feeling refunds just may be in order soon. Kalao tak pon, lambat gila la baru menjadik sebab tak mungkin kot Rihanna nya show will take place so fast.

But, for those of you yang interested nak attend Sunburst, tickets are still available.

They had an early bird promotion which has pre-sale tickets priced at RM143 but with that offer over, pre sale tickets are now priced at RM203, while tickets sold at the door on show-day will cost RM253.

Sunburst KL 2009 have live performances across six stages.

There'll be the Sun & Sky Stage which will be the main platform for the international headliners and established local acts, while a massive indoor marquee will house the Livesounds Stage and Tuborg Loud & Clear Stage, showcasting the best local and regional acts in what they describe as a more intimate setting.

The Speedzone Interactive Tour will feature Formula 1 and Moto GP simulators within a futuristic club feel environment with deejays pumping out tunes.

My favourite would be the Silent Disco Arena which makes its first appearance at Sunburst. No speakers or anything will be there. Just 300 pairs of wireless headphones available piping in club tunes. Awesome!

To get ticket via AXCESS - CLICK HERE
For more information, visit the official Sunburst page - just CLICK HERE

Aku malas nak gi Sunburst kot, sebab tak impressed langsung with the line-up. But see if any of your fave acts ada, and kalao nak, my advice is get your tickets fast. Here are those who will be performing at Sunburst - confirmed so far.

More concert news. I hear from reliable sources there will be two more concerts coming your way being planned right now.

First up - fans of Ne-Yo can be happy because word is he'll be here as part of the Year of the Gentleman tour.

Also coming down here for a concert apparently is Mandy Moore.

Scheduled to release her latest album Amanda Leigh in May, Miss Amanda aka Mandy of course was in the news baru-baru ni cause she just hot engaged to Ryan Adams.

Away from concert news and info.

Malam tadi gi Actor's Studio with Faz, and joined by Cheryl and Segar to catch a stand up comedy act. Erm... I want my RM35 back. It was like the dude was bad or anything. Just not so funny.

Lepak and chilled and talked about Anugerah Bintang Popular 2008/2009 sebab joined by Zubir. Some of the pencalonan mengarut gila. Tak kisah la Faz tak dapat. Da bukan rezeki dia. But kelakarnya some of the names dalam senarai seriously weird! I mean... Nurul Alis (aku rasa dari RTM) in the list and not Sarimah Ibrahim for the Pengacara Wanita Popular? You're kidding right?

Heh... kira cam tahun lepas la tetiba Bard R1 yang orang tak penah dengar lagu, leh tercalon dalam kategori Penyanyi Baru Popular or whatever. So not even worth republishing the list here.

Am tired lor. Need rest. I just been back and now catchig up on the last episode of Heroes (which will only begin airing on Star on March 5... SODIHHH!!!) as well as Idol (die Tatiana!!)

Be updating later...

Goddamn musical Nazis!

Yes, people! Let's start burning books! Or more accurately let's start burning foreign music albums. Sorry... statement emo. Saja je. Sebenarnya tak emo pun, tapi nak tunjuk kebodohan sesetengah pihak yang tunjuk belang betapa uneducated perangai meka walaupun nak orang hormat meka sangat.

So take note, this entry, yang akan panjang berjela, tidak akan mempunyai gambar artis ke haper, cuma luahan perasaan aku mengenai industri muzik negara kita.

I want the focus to be on the points after open forum Karyawan tadi yang talked about the memorandum meka nak hantar kat kementerian demanding the current quota of 60:40 of local content versus foreign, be changed to 90:10 for the sake of survival of the music industry.

So before we start, let's have the disclaimer.

So do I agree with the memorandum? Generally... yes. I want to see the survival of the music business here, and the rejuvenation of it so hopefully at some point, we bounce back to being the musical powerhouse we were decades ago.

But smalam, panas tul hati aku bila ada yang stok bodoh bangang ni yang besuara.

The issue : lagu luar.

Tapi tetiba ada yang sebut Indon maid la... dan sebagainya. I am a proud Malaysian. But I want to be proud of all things Malaysian, not by putting down others.

Here is a collection of some points that ran thorugh my mind, as well as 'tercirit' dari mulut aku about the whole Malaysia against the world (specifically Indonesia) when it comes to music.

DO WE HAVE ENOUGH MATERIAL?
Walaupun kita punyai ramai artis, to force 90% quota is almost worrying. Aku cakap ni sebab at the end of the day, it's for sure yang stok sampah yang tak layak on air pun sibuk nak promosi lagu memasing memeningkan kita.

With lesser competition among local artists, aku bayangkan yang sora sombang, lagu bosan dan production tahap rakam dalam bilik air pun leh masuk radio sebab nak cukupkan quota.

QUALITY?
Which brings us to issue of quality. Apa definition of what is quality. We have a lot of singers, who should most probably look for alternative employment, but they insist they have something to offer.

What is the far reaching impact of crap demanding air time now that there is more space to play with.

DEFINITION
What makes a song a lagu luar? The artist? Camtuh The Lima for one patut takleh kuar lagu la. Ke nak ikut definasi AIM yang meka yang sign to Malaysian label kira Malaysian?

Abih lagu yang ditulis komposer luar tapi sung by our artists? Sebab kalao ikut definasi atas yang di keluarkan AIM, not eligible gak. But tuh tuk competition and this is airplay. Still... amazing how rules can differ can without standards for this music industry...

The more rules, the more the definitions needed....so tiresome.

ENFORCEMENT
Skang pun quota 60:40 takde enforcement. Kat forum tadi ada yang bising pasal Hot FM yang main culprits dalam isu membanjiri market with and ramai yang bertepuk dan bersorak tanda menyokong.

Kalao benar ada radio station yang tidak mengikuti syarat ni, kenapa tak wat something to enforce it?

What is the difference? Baik enforce yang ada skang sebelum nak up kan quota lagik.

NO WAY OUT
Kenapa ramai bising, lupa lak yang station macam x-fresh meka pandang remeh sedangkan x-fresh mainkan 100% lagu Malaysia.

Sebenarnya meka nak yang bebetul ada 'coverage' in Era dan Hot.

But someone forgot why these stations naik in the first place. By giving their listeners what they want - which includes some popular Indonesian songs.

BLAME
Yang disebut lagu luar. Tapi ada malaun asik sebut lagu Indonesia, artis Indonesia.
I mean honestly. Kenapa asik nak salahkan Indonesians?

Dulu meka agungkan artis kita, sampai pihak berkuasa wat perangai sama cam sesetengah orang sini skang, nak kurangkan lagu Malaysia di radio Indonesia.

Tapi tetap Search dan Wings menjadi inspirasi ramai rockers masa tu di seberang.

They learnt. And grew.

Kira tak syok sendiri like some people here, and almost two decades later, kita da ketinggalan.
Pas ni nak salahkan sapa?

Singapore da mula masuk tapi takde yang bising? Ahli Fiqir, Imran Ajmain, Taufik batisah, Hady Mirza, Aliff Aziz.... Nak tunggu meka ni dominasi dulu baru nak kecoh?

GROWTH
Aku pelik kenapa orang cepat sangat salahkan especially muzik Indonesia. Kalao bukan kerana Indonesian bands opening the door to the more to appreciate another brand of rock selain rock kapak dan rock leleh, ada ke anak muda kita leh appreciate bands like Meet Uncle Hussein, Hujan or even Estranged, all of which cross over from the indie or underground scene.

Kids today learnt to appreciate another brand of rock thanks to these influences.

WHO LOSES?
Siapa yang rugi dalam bab nak main close market kita pada orang luar. Kang orang balas balik kat kita close up market kat kita camna?

Album pun takleh jual sini... A top artist dari negara kita leh jual something like 50,000 plus ngan heavy promotion and lots of hits. However when they take their product to Indonesia, they can sell about more than double there.

Sampai bila nak kita jadik juara kampung ni nak gaduh pasal market kita yang nan ado? nih?

WHO DO WE REALLY BLAME?
I would blame recording companies. Dulu masa kita ok, syarikat rakaman keluarkan memacam artis sampah yang nan ado sora atau bakat.

Then pastu malas lak. Tanak cari pembaharuan. Semua nak tiru format orang lain asalkan orang lain pernah berjaya.

Tu sebab ingat tak time Siti meletop, ramai lak klon yang muncul tetiba pasaran kita penuh ngan sora semua ala ala Siti jerk.

Hasil perangai meka sendiri, skang nak raung akibatnya.

RELEVANCE
The problem with this industry is ramai yang syok sendiri. Aku salute dan respect setiap orang dalam industri ni because everyone ada sumbang something to the growth and development of it.

But without naming names. Kalao muzik seseorang tu, 20 tahun tak berubah, pastu kalao orang nak beli nak marah lak kata orang tak menghargai.

Dude! Kalao Elvis was alive pun silap silap dia pun da wat hip hop!

So the bottomline is some artists da tak relevan masih nak demand tempat di hati peminat. Justify it, bitches!

Aku respect people like Siti Nurhaliza, M. Nasir yang evolve dan berubah mengikut peredaran zaman walaupun maintain pendirian meka, as well as their sound and flavour.

WILL THE 90:10 HELP OUR INDUSTRY?
I doubt it. Radio menentukan ke trends? Some people think so. Tapi how many songs do you know yang play over again yang ko suka, tapi kena repeat sampai rasa telinga nak melecet (leh ker?)

You know what I mean. Played to death sebab hit sangat kononnnya.

Lagikpon, aku tau ada artis yang lagu berapa ketul yang hit abih punya lagu, tapi jualan album nan ado!

CHANGE
I think a lot has to do about attitude. Ramai orang dalam industri kita emotional dan bising tak abih abih. Tapi usaha tetap takde.

What was the last CD you bought of a local artist? How many do you have in your collection?
Think about it.

Aku kalao bebetul koleksi lama aku ada banyak. Ella, Sheila Majid, Ning Baizura, Ekamatra, BPR, Febians dan sebagainya.

The current batch? Malas nak sebut tapi a handful yang aku sanggup kuar duit sendiri je.

DICTATORSHIP
So what happens when orang nak paksa korang dengar apa meka nak ko dengar?
Will you layan anyway? Or will you change the station atau layan medium lain saja tuk dapat apa ko nak?

WHO GAINS
Siapa yang untung dari hal ni. Meka yang gain dari royalties from airplay la. Dalam kes ni, sure a few people will make more money. But will it benefit people in this business as of whole?
Entahlah...

PROFESSIONALISM
Kenapa la fokus tak lebih pada being professional in this field?
Sini, artis dieksplotasi cam sial... kesian lak tengok. Ko tengok la sana sini show free... tour tuh ni la.. by radio stations, TV stations, papers dan sebagainya.

Artis dibayar murah atas dasar promosi.

Tapi ikut jer takot kena gam.

Masa tu tak bising lak nak bersuara hak artis. Kalao nak lawan 'orang luar'; berani lak bersuara.

Artis kita banyak yang takut nak fight for anything atas dasar, 'let someone else fight for it'.
So many issues, and they pick the one that perhaps, should not exactly be a priority with perhaps the least results.

BUSINESS
Cakap punya cakap, semua nak jaga kepentingan sendiri. Yes... it's a business. But why should people care about just your needs. Radio stations need advertisers, and advertisers need listenership.

Bottomline semua nak pikat pendengar.

Dan kalao apa yang diberikan dikehendaki pendengar, kenapa orang lain lak nak rasakan meka nih berhak untuk memaksa orang mengubah selera.

EDUCATION
People always talk about how orang kita kena ubah mentality.

I say our music community kena ubah mentality. Times change. You change with it, or get left behind. That's a fact. Grow up... accept it.

Popshuvit takde pun publisit meluas kat radio, tapi antara artis kita yang paling berjaya nun di luar sana.

Artis cam Nicholas Teo dan Fish Leong yang orang kita sendiri tak kenal. But they have more fans and sell lots of albums. Kenapa artis yang spoon fed everything pun nak bising instead of making an effort.

I could go on and on, but bottomline is this - WE HAVE TO CHANGE. Not force others to. Make music people love. Not force people to love what you choose to put out.

A producer once told me - kalao nak buat music tuk puaskan diri sendiri, then record dan layan sendiri jerk. Kalao nak wat album, make sure it sells.

The ideal would be able to make music you love and people love. But hey... nothing's perfect.

Deal with it.

So anyway, what's my stand after all that?
Tujuan aku tulis panjang lebar is not to antagonize anyone. Even though kat forum aku tau ada golongan yang tak puas ati ngan apa aku katakan.

Thank you those like Faizal Tahir,Dayang Nurfaizah and even M. Nasir yang talked to me among others. Not all my points everyone would agree on. But I know that they know too most of what I say above has weight and has to be considered.

We are all fighting for the same thing - but maybe in different ways. Bottomline is - let's save the Malaysian music industry!

My stand at www.klubbkidd.com is that we have to support our music. But let's not lose everything in doing it.

Don't cut your nose to spite your face.

Letih jari... more tomorrow...

PS - This is not my longest entry ever... tapi letih nak naip. Pala berat pikir orang kita nya attitude towards change. So many fear change, and so many won't let go of their past successes. So how do we move on to the future?
