A WTF moment

Just back from supper with my business partner and crew, where we also bumped into some of the girls who are part of the dance mob. Honestly, am too tired to blog.

But I know a lot of questions are bouncing around at the moment, so I guess I need to back up a little and tell you guys more or less what happened today.

Began early at the bank, nak settle some stuff. Rushing about here and there, I think I started getting SMSes sometime about 3pm on about the 'cancellation' of the Beyonce concert.

I made a few calls, and got confirmation that it's NOT canceled.

Within an hour or so, I got official word that it has been postponed. I didn't know what to say, and I guess I was pretty stunned myself.

But what I dreaded was breaking the news to my crew who had rehearsed for our mob tirelessly over the past week or so.

Everyone's put so much effort into everything, that I didn't want to break their hearts to tell them the Beyonce show is postponed.

Reached the training ground about 6pm. Over a hundred of our dance mob agents had gathered by then.

I pulled Boojae and Boboy aside separately to let them know of the official news I got. Endless text messages and ignored phone calls later, it was time to face all the kids totaling hundreds at about 7pm.

Waited respectfully for the Azan, and when it was over, Boojae gave an opening speech and all to thank everyone for being there.

Then I took the mic. I was nervous.

I told everyone, I had good news and bad news. From their faces, I knew some of them had heard the rumors.

Everyone wanted the good news first. Sort of.

"The good news, guys... is that rumors I know some of you have heard, about Beyonce's concert being canceled is, nothing but bullshit".

I couldn't believe how happy everyone was. They cheered, applauded, whistled... you could tell everyone wanted the Beyonce concert to go on bad.

"The bad news is... the show has been postponed."

When I said that, everyone just went dead quiet. No one was angry, upset or even anything even remotely close to those emotions I may have expected.

In fact from the hundreds of faces before me, it was nothing but sheer disappointment and sadness.

Oh Miss B... now look what you've done. If my agents feel like this, I can imagine how thousands more out there feel.

It didn't break my heart that I was not going to see Beyonce this Sunday. But it broke my heart that these kids were disappointed.

I know some of them, are not even Beyonce fans. They just wanted in on this, for the togetherness and the time together in a mixed crowd where everyone was different.

I just didn't know what to say.

Except, since we're all here, let's go for one round of the routine.

Everyone joined - for the first time, since most had been training on their own before this.

In the beginning, most just seemed, lethargic, bored and simply too depressed to dance. By Jumpin' Jumpin' everyone WAS jumping around and screaming - either to let out whatever frustration they had pent up inside, or simply because they were really enjoying themselves.

When we were done, half of them decided to stay back and learn the choreography more.

I didn't know what to say. Again, I was at a loss for words. Thank you everyone, from the crew management, my awesome team, and especially, of course, the mob themselves. I love you guys!

Beyonce may have decided for whatever personal reasons to postpone the show, of which we'll definitely get the PR version from her management soon. But damn, she owes her fans one hell of an apology for pulling this stunt.

I guess sometimes, divas are just too big to realize, how much they disappoint their fans when they do this.

When we were done, that's when we adjourned for supper.

We all talked a lot about what happened. Truth to be told, we all hope things will be ok.

News started popping all around the new organizations about the postponement. And it was as I expected. Everyone has made Malaysia sound like a pathetic bunch of losers big time, thanks to the stupid politicking of entertainment for some cheap mileage by losers (thank you PAS)

E! Online reported that, "Beyoncé has called off a planned concert for culturally sensitive Malaysia after facing some pretty fierce objections from Islamic critics upset over her sexy stage outfits and dance routines."

abc News reported that,"U.S. pop star Beyonce has postponed a planned concert in Malaysia after the nation's opposition Islamist party raised concerns about her performance, citing moral issues, concert organizers said."

NME reported, "Beyonce has postponed a planned show in Malaysia following protests from the country's Islamic opposition party."

AP said, "R&B star Beyonce Knowles has postponed a planned concert in Malaysia, the event's organizer said Monday, following accusations by Islamic conservatives that the show would be immoral."

This is truly, an embarrassingly WHAT THE FUCK???!!! moment for our country. Millions of Ringgit trying to build the image of our country, FLUSHED down the toilet thanks to political desperation.

Have you guys had enough yet of this fucking crap?

I know I have.

And to Beyonce, stop being such a whiny (choose your choice of expletive/nastiness and insert here)

Announcement

Just as an announcement to everyone, rumors that the Beyonce I Am... World Tour stopover in Kuala Lumpur is cancelled, is NOT TRUE.

What is true is that the event has been confirmed to be postponed.

No reasons have been given at this moment from Beyonce's management, nor has there been an alternative date as to when the concert will go on.

The show will go on - including for the dance mob welcome we're holding for Beyonce. When, we're not sure yet.

Word has it that due to the time difference, Beyonce's management has yet to respond as to when the date will be, but unlike the postponement of Rihanna's concert, it will indeed go on in the near future, according to my sources.

Again, this is a postponement, not a cancellation.

I don't understand why some people decided to announce in blogs and Twitter that the show has been called off without checking. I guess, being the concert of the year, there are those who just want to see it not go on.

Will give you more info when I get it.

The beginning of another killer week

Yeay, we wrapped auditions today for all the hopefuls who wanted to join our dance mob at the Beyonce concert.

And it was a crazy turnout. We had more people than we thought we would, and right now the dilemma is picking the right agents.

So, for all of those who auditioned over the past week, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You guys rock. Not all of us are dancers, so it's not easy to get in front of public to shake your thang, that's for sure.

Apapon, callbacks have begun. Good luck to you guys who tried out.

Rehearsals start for real tomorrow for the hundreds of selected agents.

And for everyone else going for the concert, don't forget to learn the steps. Ajak kengkawan, your friends who are also going for the concert, and learn as many of the steps together. It'll be fun. And then at the concert, wait for the cue when we hit just before Beyonce takes to stage and dance with us. Let's set a record for the biggest mob in Malaysia.

The tutorial - lean the moves

Esok going to be hectic, butoh so much fun!

This is just a quickie entry, so just wait for tomorrow's entry.

PS - We also have a celebrity training session tomorrow for friends who are going to the concert and just want to train with us. Yeah... party!

PPS - Enjoy the parody of Single Ladies below. I think it's better than the SNL Justin Timberlake one. Who says Australians have no sense of humour.

Thank you

Yes, a big thank you is in order.

Hari ni we had a celebrity rehearsal session for our friends and supporters of the Beyonce flashmob project.

Antara yang join, Atilia, Yasmin Hani, Daphne Iking, Siti Saerah and Nikki. Thank you so much ladies. Sayang si Sazzy Falak tak dapat join cause she had her shoot for Galaksi which ended late. Apart from that Aishah Sinclair, Dynas Mokhtar and Ning Baizura pun masing masing couldn't make it last minute sebab their own commitments. Takpe... nanti mai ek minggu depan.

Just a bit of an update. Auditions for agents for the flash mob are extended. If you're interested to join and be our 'agent' for the concert - get more info at myjsquared by CLICKING HERE. Jangan tunggu lama lama...

Meanwhile, for those who want to see how easy and fun it is to join us (it's so easy to do it if you give it a chance), see these 8 and 9 year-old kids who showed up for our audition today.

Anyway, happy Diwali to all my friends out there celebrating the festival of lights, and everyone else, happy holidays and have a good, fun but safe weekend.

The preview

First of all, kalao ada yang bosan cita Beyonce nya konsert akan datang... tough luck. Heh!

Da nama pon blog aku, so I highlight stuff I do, and so on, and undoubtedly, Beyonce's concert ni memang the concert of the year.

For the next few weeks, benda lain ada aku kisah? Memang pudar la sinar pada apa saja yang kuar skang, biar filem ke lagu ke apa pon.

I'm sorry, but Beyonce's the real deal here. And finally she's here. And plus, I get to see her live again for the second time. Yeay! Kira aku tak penah la miss tour dia.

Yang pentingnya, ada kengkawan tolong usahakan pas berkali kata tak dapek nolong, finally malam tadi kata dia akan pastikan, aku dapat jumpa Beyonce. Yeay! Mintak mintak la menjadi.

Anyway, earlier this evening aku da awal awal pacak kat Zouk.

The Beyonce Pre Party lah, apa lagik. The event by invite, so dalam 1,000 orang je. Memula tu ada la hiccups sikit sana sini, tapi sebab kita seb baik awal awal da kat sana, dapat la iron out whatever thorny issues.

Thanks so much to all the parties involved, from Marctensia - the concert organisers, to Hotlink - the sponsors as well as Nasty, the event organisers. Not to mention the great people at Zouk yang made our stay there so fun.

Tapi yang penting nya, aku nak ucap tima kasih (macam sesi anugerah lak) to my J² team - which includes all the dance crews yang make up my agents for the dance mob.

Tadi kita wat preview for the mob we're organizing for the concert. Berdebar gak resepsi orang camna. But after we were done, damn, was I relieved. So many people came up to me and said what a great thing we were doing.

Ramai impressed sangat. Syukur. So if you guys yang going for Beyonce's concert (and there's a lot of you out there sebab tiket pon dengar da nearly sold out), tunggu apa lagi. Learn the moves now from the video we uploaded.

Again, if you don't know, you can find it at the Hotlink Beyonce KL Tour website, the hitz.FM website, the J² website and of course on Youtube.

Just quickie, apart from getting latest new on , you can also join our Facebook Events page and tell us whether you want to join (plus tell your other friends about the event) as well as on Twitter.

Ni some pics from being at the club about 4pm. Set up lagi katanya masa tu.

The set up process

Owh Miss Sasha.. you ARE fierce! And so grayscale!

The location

Ok, so my pics are crappy. You want some real good pics of the event, head over to the Facebook Events page all courtesy of Josh. Aku sibuk gila nak coordinate everything so kelam kabut tak sempat amik pics sangat.

Dia siap sempat amik video of our dance mob preview. Watch it below and imagine this in Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil. Meriah ok! So kalao you don't want to be the only boring person not joining in at the concert, cepat belajar step!

Now that the pre party is done, it's back to auditions and rehearsals. Esok siap ada special celebrity friends training session tuk kengkawan artis yang akan ke konsert tuh.

Nanti je aku post pics. Got to catch some sleep...

Seventh heaven

Walaopon kelam kabut rushing here and there to settle stuff, it was great as everything went as I hoped for.

No drama, no friction... instead semua gelak ketawa because so many things happened yang gave us more reason to smile.

Halo

Beyonce - Halo (Official Music Video)

Am so stuck on Halo right now. Merasalah tetiba jiwang memikirkan bukan je seseorang tapi dua. Camna tuh. Busy as a bee at the moment... can't forget to spend time thinking about stuff like this.

Tapi biasalah. Soal hati.

The head says one thing, the heart says another. Oh well... focus!

Video day

Arghhh! Think I'm suffering from retinal burn for staring into my laptop for so long.

Tried to get work done, and deviated a little to spend a whole load of time watching the 2008 American Music Awards. Not that the results really mattered.

Who cares about Chris Brown or Miley Cyrus? Buckets of puke ahoy! Anyone who thinks those two names are better than Alicia Keys or any of the other nominated acts, are really whacked. I mean Coldplay loses out to Brown for Artist of the Year? You've got to be joking right? Anyone's better than him...

Consolation was his girlfriend, Rihanna, won categories for the women, after fighting tooth and nail. For the second year, winners were determined by online voting. They used to be decided by a poll of 20,000 music buyers, now it's online voting to get more people to watch and apparently it's worked with a total of 11.8 million viewers for the 2008 AMAs, up from 10.9 million the year before.

While the awards ceremony itself was so-so, it was the performances that made the show worth watching. Again forget the likes of Miley or New Kids On The Block who recycled their same crap from a decade ago.

Most soulful performance would have to go to Alicia Keys, who was joined along by Queen Latifah and Kathleen Battle for Superwoman. Undoubtedly, Superwoman, and the live rendition of it, justified why she won both for both the Pop/Rock and Soul/RB album categories.

The performance that seemed to work up the crowd though was Christina Aguilera's for a non stop mix that opened with Keeps Gettin' Before it moved on to a medley of her past hits. So she wasn't in top vocal form, but considering she pulled out the stops in her performance with Genie In A Bottle, Dirrrty, Ain't No Other Man and Fighter, it was a pretty damn good performance.

Visually (not vocally - as expected, but who cares) was the PussyCat Dolls performance of I Hate This Part and When I Grow Up.

Vocally superb but boring as hell for bringing the performance style of the Nineties into the end of the first decade of the millenium was Mariah Carey who won an honorary award that night.

Best performance of the night I suppose however would go to Beyonce for All The Single Ladies.

By the way, did you catch the Saturday Nite Live - Justin Timberlake parody of Beyonce's video? Yes, we're talking JT in tights and heels! Can't find the full version, but this one on Youtube is spliced with the original music video in the mix.

Anyhoo, back to Rihanna. I loved her outfit during her performance. It was so.. ernm.. spiky!!! She'd taken off the neck piece in the pic, but watch the video performance of Rehab.

On the subject of Rihanna, she's now the face of Gucci! Rihanna is nowpromoting its new Tattoo Heart Collection, which will see 25 per cent of every purchase go towards UNICEF.
Watch the ad below.

Now got to get back to work....

By the way, my song of the moment is Beyonce's If I Were A Boy, which I guess the 'if' doesn't apply to me, last time I checked. Matilah kau... but lyrics dia memang best gila. Enjoy.. and be posting tomorrow...

I don't mean rhinestones!

So I'm on a Beyonce tip ever since I saw her live in Bangkok. Can you blame me? Bukan semua yang dapat tengok dia live, and for me, she is one of the living legends (in the making, even the hardest of cynics will have to admit).
Came across this ad some time back, and it's even in the Beyonce Experience tour programme book I bought at the concert. Yeap, Beyonce is the face of Giorgio Armani's Diamonds! Gorgeous isn't she.

And knowing that we have to rely on Youtube for a lot of things our local airwaves will never show, for those of you yang tak pernah tengok the TV ad for Diamonds, here is the 30 second commercial, the minute long version, the making of the video, the video of a the Diamonds launch and also the Beyonce interview. Watch ALL the videos! Wish they would release Beyonce's cover of Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend as a single cause the jazz-swing touch to the remake is AWESOME!
Apapun, here they are.

The 30 second Emporio Armani Diamonds TV commercial

The full length Emporio Armani Diamonds TV commercial

The Making Of... the Emporio Armani Diamonds TV commercial

The interview with Beyonce on the Emporio Armani Diamonds TV commercial

The Emporio Armani Diamonds launch event

Yes, I like, I like!!! Very much even! When the words Armani and diamonds come together, you're sure to have sassy and elegant images conjured up! And you know what... Beyonce fits the bill. Guess whomever they pick has to exude that, and Beyonce fits it to a T!

Kalau ada face to be tagged to Emporio Armani and Diamonds, rasanya siapa ek layak? Mmm...she'd have to sexy and not slutty, young, promising, every bit a performer, ahve a great voice, and a personality to match. Susah tuh.

But...erm... I wonder...

Anyway, gave the meeting at noon a miss siang tadik sebab banyak keja and half dead to the world sebab semalam drained me. So the meeting called off yesterday which took place today - was minus me. Damn.

Still got good news post meeting! Is it really important? Does it have anything to do with the above? WIll I ever get to the point? How much bandwidth have I wasted with these questions?

Don't I need sleep rather than go on and on?

All questions to be answered soon. Not saying anything more!

Keep guessing, people! Good night!

Tired out... and thunder thighs!

Semalam balik jer joined this whole gang at Fuse Studios to celebrate Nikki's birthday. On my way back from the airport, Vern messaged me asking to join if aku larat, so I did cause aku memang dah beli something for Nikki. Who could forget her birthday.

Lepak punya lepak, the night was also special because both Nikki dan Ebi ada recording session. Nak tau lebih pergi jerk ke blog Vern to read more.

Letih...still recovering from my trip to Bangkok. Yes... shopping and walking about takes its toll people!

Apapun, not much of a posting today. Tadik banyak keja nak siap. Nak lepak tomorrow nak recover. Apapun, here are some pics for Beyonce fans kalau nak tengok what you guys missed. Malas review.. it was simply... AMAZING!!!

Makan hati Lea Laurielle!!!

Yang pentingnya, there was this pic that was kind of scary! Hey, Lea... kalau diet ko fail, take this picture as inspiration that even Beyonce looks chunky (matilah chunky yer, bukan Chucky!)

Thunder thighs!

The Beyonce Experience

So how was the Beyonce concert semalam? Erm... susah nak describe. I mean... it's Beyonce! And she sang all her hits - and her Destiny Child tunes in a medley, and she changed outfits half a dozen times, and had the most lighting and amazing set which was minimal and yet flashy and not to mention of course she's not going to Kuala Lumpur. Tapi somehow, there was magic missing - it was fabulous, but not excellent.

My ticket - cool! That's 4,000 Baht, people.

Check out the backdrop kat Impact Arena.

How many concert venues you know ada smoking lounge.

Check out the crowd!

Freaky! The ushers semua lined up after the concert and waved everyone and said bye. Scary!

My souvenirs. The tour t shirt and tour programme book.

Aku tak amik banyak pics - and aku tak dapat jumpa Beyonce. Bummer. Nak wat camna. Oh well - I have meeting Kylie Minogue to look forward to. Another one of my divas, so not a loss.
So lepas habis concert actually, aku dan si Fairoz carik cab. We saw shuttle bus nak ke MRT, but somehow the feeder transport jap je. First we thought packed sangat tunggu jelah. Then tiba tiba takde lak. Keji.

So we flagged down cabs, along with 20,000 people or so. Needless to say tak dapat ler. Then it started to rain. So went for shelter, and smoked our brains out as cabs didn't stop.

Finally, one cab stopped. Baik gila mamat nih. Aku tanya how much, dia bagitau pakai meter. And he tried to keep conversation even though we had difficulties with language.

The trip to the Impact Arena cost us 400 Baht. Initially 350 Baht tapi mamat tu insist that we pay 400 Baht to compensate for the jam as well as kerana nak naik highway.

I set a challenge, kalau dia sampai Impact before 8.30pm by when the concert would start, he gets the 400 Baht. If not we stick to 350.

We got in the cab about 6.45pm. At 7.15pm, we were about 2 km ahead of where we were. It was supposed to take an hour and a half nak sampai in the worst of jams, so we were cutting it close, sebab kami dapat cab pun lambat sangat.

Surprise surprise. We reached there 8.07pm. Mamat ni memang nak that extra RM5 tuh.
Anyway masa balik mamat ni ikut meter, including 50 Baht for toll, dia cuma caj kita 200 Baht! Half the price!

So kami hung about and freshened up and then traipsed back downstairs nak sambung shopping. Found this nice stall near the Nana side - and this is Wan (I think that's how you spell it - he told us it means buncit or chubby or something because he rubbed his tummy)

Wan is a street magician and jual these little magic games and gadgets. Bought two amazing tricks yang aku tak penah nampak lagik kat Malaysia. Besh!

Tak sabar nak buat youtube of the tricks... thanks Wan!

Masa jalan nak balik hotel guess what I saw! Area tuh memang ramai 'career girls' yang male dan female so this was one of the most profitable businesses. It was a sidewalk saloon. Leh?
Kelas! It was part of a restaurant - boleh? That was unique. Gawd... nak packing nak check out.

Be posting back in Kuala Lumpur. Home sweet home.

PS - Happy Halloweeen guys...

To the left... to the left

Actually had this news a couple of days now, tapi semalam baru dapat confirmation bebetul yang jadik. Which until I got it tak berani nak cakap takut jinx lak tak jadik kang.

Actually yesterday has two good news lar.

The first was the confirmation that...

I will be watching Miss Beyonce Knowles in concert in Bangkok! Happy gila! Was hoping gi Jakarta, tapi confirm ke Bangkok so ok jer lah. I'll be travelling alone, which is no big deal sebab da biasa pun ke sana sini sorang, takde ler scary Mary sangat.

Skang tunggu confirmation kalao jadik ke tak press conference ke interview ngan Beyonce. But whatever it is, memandangkan she can't even step in the country, at least watching her in concert LIVE is going to be really big for me.

The other piece of FABULOUS news I received belum confirm lagi details, but it's apparently on, so aku berani cakap.

Which is, I will be interviewing Kylie Minogue on the latest release of her new album X soon. Ni pun baru dengar the new single, 2 Hearts.

The 2 Hearts single artwork

The newest album to be released by Kylie simply titled X

The recording company is apparently going to fly us to a destination yet unknown, and we're going to go face to face with the Diva from Oz.

This is my second meeting with her sebab dulu penah jumpa dia masa ke London for her exclusive one night only Money Can't Buy show masa launching Body Language punya album.

Masa tuh, bukan je aku first time in London, but it was amazing that I was one of the 4,000 people on invite masuk the Hammersmith Apollo on November 15 2003 to get to see her show where no tickets were put on sale.

If you've seen the live concert recording, you'll agree the million pound concert was AMAZING!
Anyway, looking forward to that.

Ada yang tanya, aku layan ke Black Eyed Peas kat Genting kang. Erm... truth is, not really bothered sebab penah tengok meka live da. Nothing great. But kalau masa mengizinkan, maybe. The only reason I would want to catch them live is to meet Fergie. Heh!!!

Smalam buka puasa kat Ayurthya in Damansara. Feeling Thai jap before I head to Bangkok to get in the mood. Gituh!!

At least the interior decor and the food was nice. Bukan cam pagi sebelum tu bersahur ngan Boo dan kawan dia kat Shah Alam. I swear this is the menu for the restaurant.Amik ko!

Siap ada editorial lagik.

Mee Sup - MSG ZERO dalam sup... jadi... tidak menghauskan dan tak payah bimbang gugur rambut lah!

Katanya!!!

And I swear, on random items on the menu, they had all sorts of commentary on the food and drinks, which was actually quite disturbing because you'd think they'd spend more time getting the taste of the food right more than anything else.

Start hari ni bosan sikit kot sebab Boo da balik kampung, so I'm left here all on my own *cue music from Celine Dion - All By Myself*. Tapi I guess I get to have some alone time seeing that we had a serious talk last night.

Relationships are such a mystery, so we'll just see how things go. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a hardened old b***h right now and am so cynical of things that I really can make it on my own.

Still, Boo... when you read this, know that I am trying ok.

Hugs to you, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Maaf Zahir Batin.

Pada sapa yang jemput rumah terbuka, silakan. Right now takde plan. Maybe first Raya gerak ke Melaka ziarah kubur an old friend, and then drop by lawat adik angkat. Kalau takde aral melintang, singgah Kulai lawat beraya rumah dak botak.

Nak ke rumah kuarga angkat kat Parit Buntar malas lak.

Still, we'll see how things go.

Apapun, gotta scoot now. A little bit more work to settle, then petang ni ada phone interview with Shane Filan of Westlife. Lama tak dengar khabar meka. Last few times met and lepak with them was I think in 2002 or so when they frequently dropped by KL and Singapore.

Ok lar...until the next entry... take care people, dan jangan tinggalkan puasa. Nak raya dah...
