Bila anda menuding jari

Aku serious BOSAN tahap gaban masih ramai berterusan nak bertekak soal perkahwinan Mawi dan Ekin hari tu, and kononnya sana sini nak tegakkan cerita sebenar.

Aku kat sana katakan, ye, memang aku dilayan dengan baik (kecuali oleh cilahanat sorang ni yang bodoh tak professional) ketika di Johor sebagai tamu Astro, but the day was about Mawi, not me - so aku diam gak ler dari cause a scene.

BUT, aku tak stuju with all the bashing going on. Baik tuduhan terhadap Astro ke, TV3 ke, Mawi ke.. ngarut la semua nih.

Here are some facts people should consider.

Ramai media marah konon dikaitkan laporan TV3 ketika Buletin 1.30 yang katakan wartawan - using the term generally painting an image yang ramai tak puas hati. Aku, seperti wartawan lain berada dalam press conference, so honestly, I can not be sure of what was happening outside, neither did I catch the news tuh - so either way no komen. But it hasn't stopped some of my esteemed colleagues from jumping to conclusions of their own - based on the words of others, or sentiments.

TV3 wasn't the only media stopped, also ntv7, Channel 9, Bernama TV, and apparently mengikut kata wartawan based kat Johor - seorang dari Harian Metro punya state bureau. So kalao betol fact yang TV3 biased reporting - I would say the same about rakan wartawan yang lain - yang malas/tak kuasa/terlupa etc untuk check that fact up tapi meroyan dalam paper, kalahkan blog berbau pendekatan peribadi (PS - a blog is a personal journal, so leh lagik meroyan - tapi paper lak cam bapak nya lak nak main bang tanpa wat homework)

Hakikatnya bukan Mawi yang menghalau, dan walaupon dia sebagai tuan rumah, aku rasa orang tertentu yang bersalah untuk mengeruhkan keadaan, termasuk individu yang sepatutnya lebih beradab dan tenangkan keadaan. But the person in question especially I guess - it would be expecting too much la kalao dia nak berbudi bahasa tanpa plastik - kalao bukan kepada kawan-kawan yang dapat membawa keuntungan.

Laporan media memasing bercanggah. Harian Metro had two different feel to their reporting. And Kosmo! lak masa kena halau tau lak report kata bagai majlis anak raja, tapi pastu dalam another piece condemn TV3's action. Pot calling kettle black betol.

I don't want to go into broadcasting rights and how some people don't understand it from both sides. Aku bukan arif sangat soal tuh - though I am sure it wouldn't have infringed rights considering bebudak TV3 takde transmitter on them for a live feed nak cantas Astro nya coverage.

Mawi is a public figure - and I think a decent platform (minus the sarcasm or snide remarks) would have eased things. Yer.. dapat interview pastuh - tapi pas kena halau. We're all human. Consider what you would do - this I say especially to my media friends - and don't lie.

Besides, soal Mawi nih, we know it's better to tune into Astro anyway kan nak tonton perkembangan sebab macam macam ada (uwaaa.. siap kuar tagline)

But I will mention something at the risk of alienating my colleagues (or actually them alienating me). Yes, some of them were VERY emotional for no damn reason, and tulis dengan menggunakan hati, bukan otak.

Aku tak berniat nak pandang rendah pada sesapa, but I think so many have forgotten the basic ethics of news reporting. Ada yang tulis ngan perasaan tanpa fakta, ada yang menulis berdasarkan kata kawan-kawan tanpa nak cari kebenaran, ada yang rasa senang je terikut dengan kata-kata mereka yang memberi makan minum. Kekadang cakap sikit, kena cucuk sikit, da tulis bagai nak rak, like a damn personal crusade.

There are very good entertainment journalists out there lagik. But I'm starting to lose faith.

They don't even display the knowledge of basic reporting values.

Apakah tugas mereka sebagai wartawan. Untuk melaporkan yang benar. Bukan dok main hentam je ikut suka - tapi untuk mengetahui apa sebenar yang berlaku. Jangan sesekali nanti bila fakta sebenar dikemukan nak mengatakan, "Owh ye ke... aku tatau... camna aku nak tau etc"

I don't blame Astro - they were very good hosts for the event - to me. And they are within their rights to safeguarding their exclusivity.

I don't blame TV3 - they have good journalists yang tulis berdasarkan fakta.

I don't blame Mawi - his wedding was on a grand scale, and the boy had to rely on supposedly competent people to do work (nan adoooo katanya)

I blame stupid individuals yang tak reti langsung nak deal ngan media, dan mengampu mana yang yang perlu without any sense of doing the job they were given without showing favour only to those they are acquainted with. I blame the same person for bad treatment of a journalist on duty - when their role was to use common sense and courtesy nak deal with the situation instead of letting it getting out of hand and escalating after.

Incompetent idiots like this still work when they cannot function in their basic given capacity?

Over two years ago when Butterfingers keluarkan album Selamat Tinggal Dunia, kecoh kerana lagu Merpati Sejoli ngan lirik, "Janganlah terasa, hidup ini sementara, Wartawan hiburan pondan homoseksual ..."

Aku kenal Emmet, the lead for Butterfingers. Terrina (his then tunang, now wife), was also my colleague at The Malay Mail. Aku tak heran and none of us pun terasa though some terasa and took it as a provocative step by the band to slam entertainment journos.

I didn't even find it discriminatory - for the simple reason that it meant not those who are fags, but act like souped up fags who are freaking drama queens tripping on an chemists' arse during PMS.

And honestly, some people, who need to go back to journalism 101, have to stop all this bullshit so meka tak terus malukan profession nih. Kembalikan integriti kami.

Jangan ingat you own the business sebab korang da bertahun. All of us make mistakes. Learn from it and move on. Aku pun da nak masuk 13 tahun dalam bidang ni, half in news and the other half in entertainment. Jangan bodoh sombong, sebab da la dalam bidang ni pon orang anggap kita ni the bimbos - perlu ke ko nak prove people within the business, as well as outside, true to their estimation of our abilities?

Aku tak bermaksud nak tikam any of my friends in this business. Just hopefully nak sedarkan. Kalao nak melenting nak terasa, aku minta maaf. Aku perangai cam lahanat pun - da takde orang yang sempurna. Tapi aku tegur sebab I am passionate about this industry.. or business.. or whatever you choose to call it.

Don't destroy it, and whatever little's left of the integrity of our profession. Listen instead of bitching endlessly. Sometimes, we can be wrong. No one's perfect.... that includes you.

Let's start working towards gaining respect for the job that we do, that we may have at times lost focus due to external factors.

Fact is, we too are not above criticism when it's due.

For those yang nak tau what's been going on - here's another side to the story. Please read this with an open mind. Ni blog Hazrey, wartawan TV3 yang caught in the centre of it all. A journalist for 16 years - I think he deserves to be heard. Also Saniboey... walaopon mulot dia cam poaka kekadang (make that most of the time)

Still I think both of them, like the rest of us in the business, have a right to speak. Apa ko hengat circulation paper tempat ko kerja memberikan ko suara dan merampas pendapat yang lain?

Aku sebenarnya malas nak posting anything else. Tadi gi press conference umumkan bermulanya officially Anugerah Bintang Popular - Berita Harian which is going to be held in April 2009.

Tak banyak snap pics pun, except a few extra of Liyana Jasmay - one of the upcoming, most promising actresses around. Pic ketiga tuh ada makna tuh, but I'll keep that between Faz and I. Heh... matilah ko!!!

Argh...letih Christmas shopping. Nak rehat jap.
