Reviews!

Seperti dijanjikan, ni lah review aku tuk Hadiah Daripada Hati. Da lama aku tak ulas album baru kat sini. Sebenarnya kalau ikutkan, memang aku pemalas sikit bab album review nih. But sebab ada yang mintak, ok ler.

Hope you guys like it. Jangan harap bahasa perfect ek, tetap as usual, it'll be bilingual dan tunggang langgang.

Tunggu review dalam suratkhabar kalao nak yang flawless gituh. Sebab ni ulasan percuma dan jujur jerk yang dari hati tanpa agenda nak review nak burukkan atau puji. Anyway, here it is.

Ku Mahu
(Audi Mok/Rina Khan)
My favourite track of the moment!!! Sebab lagu tema dari Spa Q nih memang rancak, and I think setakat ni takde la sound nih dari Siti from her previous albums, which is something yang betul-betul upbeat. Kira kelainan dan pembaharuan la.
Jangan layan music video dia, tapi kalao ko guna imaginasi, then you can pretty much imagine how it should be, with someone coming up with some pretty funky moves to this.
Well produced (and Audi, I'm not just saying this), I think it should have been the first single, sebab lagu ni instantly grabs your attention.

Melawan Kesepian
(Pongky Barata)
Since this song was arranged by Aubrey Suwito, expect the magic - though possibly a little cliched take of David Foster ala retro gituh. Still, it's a simple melody, yang has swirls of emotions building up around it.
Memang boleh layan - tapi after Ku Mahu, the direction of this album is a little suspect sebab aku rasakan cam dinyanyikan dua orang berbeza sebab lain sangat.
Bukan mencari kesinambungan pada setiap lagu, tapi there has to be some form of uniformity.
Still Melawan Kesepian tuk aku, is mood music yang aku leh layan kalau tengah malam, tengah dok feeling, erm... basically like the song title - Melawan Kesepian.
My possible favourite tune pasnih though I'm not sure kalau single material.
Memang tangkap feel.

Mulanya Cinta
(Dick Lee/Adlin Aman Ramli)
Semakin banyak layan lagu, yang versi lain sikit smakin aku suka (if I don't imagine the overhyped staging of P. Ramlee The Musical)
It's a good song, but I have a problem with the fact that it hardly sounds fresh. Aubrey as the producer and arranger sekali lagi, seperti lagu Melawan Kesepian, weaves his magic, and almost saves it... kira lagu nih becomes another ballad which embraces you.
Still, coming from Singaporean composer Dick Lee, this sounds too cut and paste from his previous compositions for Forbidden City : Potrait Of An Empress performed by the SIngapore Repertory Theatre some time back.
Masih ingat lagi lagu lagu dia considered stale there, even though our theatre folks suka sangat pakai mamat nih yang memang ketinggalan zaman.
Tak paham why orang kita suka sangat pakai dia.

Tanpa Kalian
(Taufik/Siti Nurhaliza)
Mak aih! I think this is one part Aubrey went wrong. Siti's vocals cam strained sangat and da macam kebelakang lak daripada progress - ngan kehadiran lenggok lenggok wajib walaopon, this should have been a straight forward song.
No power - but attempted confusion between making this a ballad like tune and a moderate paced bopy tune.
Lagu ni contradiction sangat with a happy melody, tapi lirik sedih hasil combo teamwork Taufik dan Siti.
And the song dragged when the melody itself could have been a bouncier and happy tune yang cutesy rather than a drama gone wrong.
Entah. Lagu nih pelik sangat - and I definitelty rasa lirik dia paling tak kena sekali. One of the weakest songs in the album though possibly one with the most potential due to it being a very confused song.

Biarkan
(Azlan Abu Hassan/Azalea)
Mula letih tahap gaban masuk je lagu nih. Again, I don't see the direction of the album yang bersepah especially with this song. And erm... this is just boring. Tak fresh langsung - biar dari segi production of the vocals ataupun from the song.
This sounds like something from the 80s lah. Azlan dah lose his touch ke, dia attempting desperately nak wat something bebetul poppish - tapi end up with this pseudo soul funk type of tune.
Fast forward jap... tak larat with they...hey hey woo hoo and all.
Mungkin Siti pernah katakan dia tunggu sangat hasil kerja Azlan, tapi sayang hasil yang diberikan Azlan tu bukan yang terbaik.

Kerana Dirimu
(Cynthia Lamusu)
Nice filler, but bebetul tatau camna nak komen lagik. The direction of the album is a pure mess. Unlike Transkripsi yang tersusun rapi dari segi perjalanan lagu, dengan makna tersirat (whether assumed or intended), hadiah Daripada Hati appears to be a rush job with randomly selected songs.
A&R is a horror. Directionless.
I don't know kenapa lagu leagu semua ala heartbreak jer konsep, asik tema dilamun kekecewaaan jer. Ini ke yang diharapkan peminat Siti?
Aku ingat lagi masa Transkripsi, there were more themes to her songs, this time semua cam redundant.
At least kalao nak sangat tema nih, the composers and producers itself should veer away from the tried and tested dan cuba la bagik fresh sound sikit.

Hati
(Sharon Paul/Shuhaimi Baba)
I always love Sharon's work. Dia nih memang talented, gifted tapi oten underrated. Jarang orang pay attention pada hasil kerja dia. But then again, Sharon ni kekadang inconsistent kerja dia. Kalau sedap, memang sedap gila.
And this is a hit - cuma tak larat lirik ratapan bangsawan. Eew!!!
So 1957 : Hati Malaya!
Perlu ke lagi zaman nih nak lirik camni.
Some people try hard to be poets - by using big words littered without reason.
Boring.
One of my favourite songs - if I don't pay attention to the lyrics.
Siti tak over mendayu kali nih and memang this is a classic Siti yang besh.

Wanita
(Mohammad Fahmi Rizal/Shanty Ramadhani/Siti Nurhaliza)
Aiyo!!! Me likey! Another favourite of mine from the album.
Now this is what I'm talking about! Adalah gak something different in this album.
A feelgood sing-a-long tune yang menaingful tanpa berangan with reference to the dictionary.
Aku suka sangat lagu nih because it's a positive and uplifting tune yang segar sikit bunyi kalao banding some of the other tracks in the album.
Must listen tune!
Produced by Greg Henderson and Aubrey Suwito, this should have been the main direction of the album this time around.

Cintamu
(Sharon Paul/Fedtri Yahya)
Since I've been b***hing about lyrics - aku memang tak penah sukakan lirik dari Fedtri nih. Again, one of those overdose feely touchy queeny punya effort biasanya. This time however, straightforward and simple. And I definitely like this one.
Along with the simple melody from Sharon, this song is a nice act to follow-up Wanita
The lilting strings make you want to dance along and just spin around with that sensation of being intoxicatedly in love.
Not the best, tapi one of the most listenable songs in the album.
Is this a single? I'd like this to be...

Sutramaya
(Aubrey Suwito/Tinta S)
Dengar lagu nih, I think Hadiah Daripada Hati patutnya along the lines of a more acoustic sound.
Petikan gitar dari Aji memang membuai. Sounds a little early 90s pop for me, with the electric guitar bits here and there, tapi it works this time around.
Again, a nice continuity. Fourth song in a row that works.
Possible single too perhaps?
Erm...kenapa it sticks sangat in my head siot. Infectious!
"Semakin jauh semakin hampir... sutramaya kasih mu"
Ooh... sing-a-long time!
Lagu ni apart from Ku Mahu yang instantly it's recognisable, and sticks in your head. Me likey!

Sekian Lama
(Azlan Abu Hassan)
Mmm... officially i think Azlan has just lost his touch. Boring siot. Siti's voice saves the song. Why do i say that?
Sebab kalau bagik orang lain nynayi nih, it would have not even been noticed.
In fact, I can imagine something like this as a filler, on a Debbie Gibson album ten years ago.
Boring!!!

Verdict : Tak sekuat album Transkripsi dari banyak segi. Bercelaru sikit, dengan hasil lagu yang cliched sana sini. Masih merupakan album yang bagus walaoapapon and worth the price tag of RM29.90 for eleven songs. Especially since about half the album or so it really quite decent material.

Recommended songs to listen : Ku Mahu, Melawak Kesepian, Mulanya Cinta, Hati, Wanita, Cintamu, Sutramaya dan Sekian Lama.

Anyway, selain dari album Hadiah Daripada Hati, ingat memula nak review filem The Golden Compass yang baru buka kat panggung the last few days. Semalam sempat ler catch it with Vern (yang belanja tetiba) dan Rudy. Didn't really want to watch it.

Kalao ikutkan sejarah pilem ni, memang kontroversi pun sebab asal usul nya dari siri trilogi novel yang kearah menghina bukan saja the whole concept of Christianity tapi other organsied religions.

Cuma dalam versi filem, dia kira dilembutkan sikit la - dan banyak yang tersirat.

But da orang belanja, aku pun layan.

Still, lepas kuar panggung, I really don't know what to say about the movie. It wasn't bad - but it wasn't epic like seperti they hyped it. They called it the anti-Narnia, and likened it to the Lord of the Rings series (producer pun sama) with a world of fantasy magical as Harry Potter's.

However, hasilnya - walaopon tak azab, in fact quite watchable - was two hours of too many sub-plots minimised and sandwiched into a two hour slot packed with effects and not much susbstance.

In fact - if I had paid for the movie to watch it - the only reasons would be Nicole Kidman, and possibly an interesting find in young actress in Dakota Blue Richards.

Lain dari tuh, overhyped kot.

Not really worth my time kat panggung nak layan - baik beli DVD cetak rompak layan jerk atau download (not that aku promote intellectual property copyright infringement - tapi nak tunjukkan jer it's not worth it)

So, no lengthy review on it.

Eh jap... lupa sebelom ni nak kongsi dua pic. Enjoy. The first is masa bowling Marsha FC arituh. Ini pic aku dan moderator @15, si Qenari (cayang bucuk bucuk!). The other masa persandingan Leya dan Ashraf. Tu si Suzana di hias akibat takde keja ngan bunga manggar. Leh? Macam South American punya Miss tak? Matilah aku...

Got some good news today. Kat De Luna (yang lagu hit dia Whine Up tuh) is going to be in town! Aku da ada interview lined up ngan dia. Yeay!

Ok guys...calling it a night...

Hadiah Daripada Hati

Baru selesai majlis pelancaran album Datin Seri Siti Nurhaliza yang baru, album studio keduabelasnya, iaitu Hadiah Daripada Hati. Aku setakat ni dengar beberapa lagu saja dari album nih, so esok jer aku posting review of the album ek.

Apapon, setakat nih, melekat Ku Mahu jer, which is what you guys are hearing on my blog at this moment (kecuali kalao PC ke laptop korang takde speaker, then den takleh nolong la).

Mondays! Damn!

So butt lazy to write. Tapi nak add sikit jer tengah tengah kesibukan nih. Check out what appeared in SitiZone hari ni?

If you've been in my blog, or visited Audi Mok's blog or his imeem, you would have heard Ku Mahu, the first track in the album for weeks now. Apapun, this is the info on the new album yang akan dilancarkan 10hb nih seperti Datin Sri bagitau ari tuh.

Terima kasih pada SitiZone for the pics (click on it for the link to go there for more info dan pesanan Siti), and of course the man, Audi Mok sebab bagik link kan lagu kat sini.

Album Hantaran Daripada Hati, will be launched 10 Disember, or so Siti mentioned, though not sure yet sebab tak dapat info event lagik.

Setakat nih, dengar lagu Ku Mahu jerk (tatau ler radio kuar lagu apa, sebab aku skang kurang layan radio sebab material semua yang play on radio macam $%^&!!!)

Apapon, on the left, tuh ler cover album Siti. Tak pakai Datin Seri ok... pakai title sendiri jerk... Datuk Siti Nurhaliza. Very the independent woman.

Anyway, tuk lagu Ku Mahu tuh, sample jerk ek korang. Kalau minat...BELI! Jangan nak audio capture jerk keja, ke download mp3 haram. Heh....ok ok..nak sambung keja.

Malam ni ada sesi rakaman album Mila dalam studio. Nanti aku update ngan gambar ek!
Kalau sempat aku wat video sikit letak sini. Dah lama tak wat 60 Saat Bersama... kan? Aku cuba kalau sempat. Sebenarnya keja pending nih banyak sangat dan aku da terpikir nak cuti nih... so nak rajinkan diri sikit.

Ok...signing off for now.

Colour me Iban

Pagi tadik nak gerak kena jerit ngan si Along sebab KO! Memang ngantuk cam beruang tengah hibernate ler aku ni.

Dahler not enough sleep for the past few days...pastuh semalam stayed up until 5am surfing the net sebab beli prepaid untuk surf Internet.

Murah gila punya pasal - RM15 for 24 hours access, aku jadik burung hantu and stayed online downloading stuff and doing this and that online.

Amik ko! Akibatnya...designer luggage! Not even eyebags tau! We're talking humonous eyebags!

Managed to drag my ass out of bed and mandi selama dekat setengah jam to wake me up. Joined the rest of the guys for breakfast sebelum jumped into the coach together with Bob and his family to go to the Sarawak Cultural Village.

Dalam perjalanan dapat ler tengok these amazing sights throughout the half jour journey. Even finally got to see the fame Santubong.

Terasa nak jadik Fiebie lak. Masa aku snap pic Gunung Santubong pon, aku rasa nak jerit, "Theee hillsss are aliveee!!!...with the sound of muuusiccc!!!" Fantasi tul ler....but the sights were simply breathtaking, and they made the whole trip to Sarawak just worth it totally. The colours, the hues of the surroundings were just so vibrant.

It was an extremely bumpy ride, sampai sekor sekor yang melatah tak abih abih bising everytime melayang akibat tercampak.

We passed more sights like the Damai resort yang dengar golf legend Arnold Palmer yang design the golf course...before we finally arrive at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

From the outside, it doesn't look as impressive as I thought it would, maybe due to the hype of what I've heard about it all this while. Billed as the living museum, it definitely has a very simply proclaimation to its presence.

Turun coach...masing-masing cari rokok dulu, berasap.

Not very healthy living...but who cares...bukan Kementerian Kesihatan yang sponsor blog aku kan...

A couple of items piqued my interest...the first was this weird sculpture. First thing that came to my mind were peas in a pod...pastu teringat cam petai lak.

Sampai balik kat hotel ni, aku masih searching for the right word to describe that ukiran. I knew what it looked like, but somehow the word didn't pop into my mind at all. It was a H word. And as I'm typing this...suddenly it dawns on me!

Hemorroids!!! That's it! It looks like a really bad case of hemorroids!

Somebody pass me that jumbo economy tube of medicated ointment!

To some it may look like a vagina ngan kelentit (can I say that word) berkembar tiga (cacat sungguh...but must work great for sex - oh oh my blog is becoming 18SX) but I think it looks like hemorroids, or for those who want a better explaination of the scientific term referring to a painful mass of dilated veins in swollen anal tissue. Also can be defined as a pathological condition in which such painful masses occur. Yes, and it is also called piles! Who says you can;t learn anything from blogs. Note that I didn't say anything useful.

Moving on to something not too crass (which must be unlike me for those who know me better) is this carving yang dok depan the performance theatre.

There were I think about four or five of these carvings, but each differed in character.

This particular one reminded me of Fiebie. Erm...I won't say why but I think you now why, kan girl?

Matilah tak ada angklung nak amik gambar and post in my blog tuk carut Muzaffar.

It was hot as hell...with the searing heat beating down mercilessly. To avoid being bathed in sweat and providing less than appealing body odours, aku dan bebudak lari masuk the air conditioned theatre nak tunggu the launch of Bob's album.

Tengok keluarga Maestro dah pun set up jual CD Bob, Hantaran Hati kat depan theatre.

After a little of waiting, dan sesi mencarut harga barang-barang kat souvenir shop kat Sarawak Cultural Village yang memang sah khas buat orang putih kertu yang mai melawat sebab da senja da selangkah masuk kubur...we prepare ourselves for the cultural show.

Wow...memang power ler persembahan mereka. I love ethnic dances especially and it was definitely mesmerising to see the wealth of culture in Sarawak's heritage of arts. Memang menarik persembahan termasuk tarian Iban, Ngajat Lesung, and several other including tarian pahlawan (matilah Fiebie merembes kalau ada sekali tengok bebudak pakai cawat je)

There was this particular tarian which I didn't catch the name of yang siap mamat ni panjat atas this pole, and balanced himself on it on the flat of his stomach. Pergh! Kuatnya perut....matilah six packs katanya!

And then, like a breakdancer gone wrong, dia siap spin tuh!

Aku suka tul!!! Very the acrobatic show ala international performances.

After that, it was on to the launching of Bob's album, diikuti ngan persembahan beberapa lagu dari Bob. Memang flawless ler persembahan Bob! Semakin mantap vocal dia.

Abih tu je, kami gerak lunch kat restaurant kat premises of the village itself.

Sepatutnya aku wat tattoo aku, tapi sentap sebab mamat yang biasa wat benda tu da balik ngan segala peralatan.

Dalam tension, mamat sorang ni yang aku perasan masa show menari Ngajat Lesung tu sembang ngan aku.

Nama dia Daud, asal orang Miri dan umur 22 tahun.

He told me he's been dancing for some four years now.

Kalau biasa penari ni semua erm...kaum yang lembut gemalai sikit...I found out from Bob that kat Sarawak, there is this thing where more effeminate males are not allowed to take part. Terkejut gak semua penari lelaki mereka betul-betul berupa jantan (matilah gelak sorang... tak kuasa undercover!)

Talked about tattooes. Makan hati tengok tattoo dia.

He explained to me the difference of his tattooes.

Contohnya, yang lengan kiri, yang thicker strokes is tattoo Iban, manakala yang belah kanan tuh, tattoo suku kaum Orang Ulu.

Also discovered ada satu yang bulat bentuknya kat area bahu tu, dipanggil bunga terung, which is basically a headhunter, when he...erm...brings a head home. Kalau yang wat kat tekak tu, tu maksudnya, "Don't you f***ing mess with me!!!" cause that means banyak sangat pala kena penggal da.

Sembang punya sembang, Daud kena gerak sambung kerja, so aku pun join balik event yang pas lunch, switched over to the press conference. Sempat tukar nombor ngan Daud sebab dia kata kalau leh, abih rehearsal malam ni, dia leh datang hotel buatkan tuk aku tattoo! Sukanya aku!!!

Harusler original tribal punya!

Anyway, the heat was getting worse as the scorching afternoon sun seemed merciless. Takde mood nak lunch sangat so makan sikit je. Sambil tu kaco si Hazel Maestro ngan these little cocktail umbrellas they had stuck on coconuts they served us.

Merasalah handbag Hazel tiba-tiba ada accessories additional.

Abih je semua tu....we were dragged along on a tour of the Sarawak Cultural Village. Wow! Now I
know why they call it a living museum.

We were brought to all the houses, actual constructions of the residences of the major ethnic races in Sarawak. Aku malas nak elaborate lebih pasal these pics I took, but if you're interested to find out more background, click je kat Sarawak Cultural Village and go over to their website gallery with explainations of each home.

But aku amik ler pics gak untuk kenangan...it was all nothing short of amazing!

Tapi yang seronoknya masa sibuk melawat rumah orang Iban, Bidayuh, Melanau dan sebagainya, singgah rumah orang Penan tu, tiba-tiba ada orang panggil aku.

You see, the staff of the village ni, semua ada multiple roles dalam kerja-kerja mereka seharian..

And I only found out that bila aku jenguk betul-betul, tengok yang panggil aku si Daud.

Rupanya, dia dok kat rumah orang Penan, erm..kira berlakon sebagai pahlawan Penan ler or something like that.

Dia dok panggil aku dari jauh da, rupanya nak confirm malam ni abih je rehearsal abih je, dia akan call aku, pastu mai hotel.

Dia bak member dia sekali yang akan tolong buatkan tattoo aku. Yeehaa! Sukanya aku! Terus amik pic seksi mereka yang bercawat saja.Boleh?

We had a short chat again, and some history lessons in the culture behind Sarawakian body art.

If anything, it made the whole trip worth it just learning about how intense the local culture here is in expressing themselves through various facets of arts and performance.

But one thing aku nak point out which I found quite an interesting trend.

Kalau rumah-rumah kita kat sini ada benda yang ala ala menjadi centerpiece that becomes the point of focus, seperti lampu canggih beli kat IKEA ker haper jer la...the most predominant accessory of Sarawakian homes back then was none other than tengkorak.

Yeap...the human skull was all the rage back then, and no decent home would be seen without it hanging in a noticable spot of the main room.

Well...actually there's like only one room anyway....in most of the local ethnic housing I've seen... but you get my point. Aku snap satu, tapi meremang bulu roma pikirkan it was a real skull.

Mamat jadik tour guide kita ni kata it was on load from the museum and the shrunken skull ni dated back over a hundred years. Tu sebab nya da kecut.

I kinda think it's funky, but definitely freaky, In one of the ethnic homes, better still, they hang a WHOLE BUNCH of skulls. We were told it also marks that the home it hangs in has a warrior.

Not so cool!!! It's actually kind of nasty lah when you think about it. I'd imagine kalau aku penggal pala orang, the last thing I wanna do is keep it as a trophy. Eeew!!!Bayangkanlah masyarakat tuh masa tuh camna bab nak show off. Imagine makcik jiran mai bertandang ke rumah.

"Eh Tipah, cantik tengkorak yang tu..."

"Yang mana satu? Oh...yang tu. Hah...si Leman bak balik semalam. Mamat tu ada body odour, so Man pon penggal pala dia.

Actually, alasan jer sebab bentuk pala dia very the kena ngan my tempayans....ada continuity kan...."

Mamposss!!! Gelak ni terbayangkan.

Anyway, kata our guide ni lagi...masa meka wat village and letak benda alah semua ni jadi props. siap kena wat upacara sebetulnya tuk mengelak kecelakaan berlaku.

The shaman had to literally stay in the huts for a month to appease the spirits or something.
Eh...ok ler...nak gi dinner ni pastu malam ni ada dinner show Bob.

Pas abih malam nanti kalau jadi aku buat tattoo, aku amik pics dan posting malam ni gak kalau leh. Apapun, khas buat waiem dan peminat-peminat Bob, ni pic Bob pas launching album dia nun kat atas tuh..

And then, one more bersama dengan keluarga tercinta dia yang turut hadir masa event tuh siang tadi.Ok ler...

Hope you guys enjoyed my little traipse about in Kuching as much as I did.

Be blogging soon...
