Pesta Malam Indonesia 3

One of the best events I went to last year was the Pesta Malam Indonesia 2.

Gila, tak happening??!!! Ada Samsons dan Sheila On 7! Of course there were so many other acts like Ungu, Peterpan and Slank which are definite favourites in my book as well... and Dewi Dewi.

Tapi serious aku moshing gila masa Samsons dan Sheila sebab memang I know every song from them since gilakan meka dari zaman dahulukala (macam betul jerk)

If you guys read my past entry, you would know just how much fun it was. Walaopon ada yang kata venue ketika tuh kat Bukit Kiara Equestrian Park jauh dan tak kena, in reality, that is still one of the best spots to freak out. Nama pon pesta... kena la festival vibe sikit with wide open spaces and a humongous stage to kick things off kan. Do I even need to mention the kick-ass bands?

And the tickets were more than affordable, so masa tuh aku ingat agik kita turun berempat.

Walaopon pas opening number Dewi Dewi finished mula hujan, just before Samsons came on, takde hal! Semangat meka performing, honestly was worth getting drenched for.

I stayed on almost to the end, tapi missed out on Slank who was last, sebab dah tak larat by that time. Serious... it takes serious energy to get down with the crowd. Energy running high the whole day... and night.

For those yang are wondering what the hey is Pesta Malam Indonesia, it's actually a music festival bringing together the hottest Indonesian acts on one stage.
The first was April 2006 with Dewa, Gigi, Padi, Ada Band, Cokelat, Ungu, Ratu and Ari Lasso.

The second was in August 2008 as mentioned with Dewi Dewi, Samsons, Sheila On 7, Ungu, Peterpan, Slank. Local guests were Hujan dan Meet Uncle Hussain.




This year on 20 June, Dewa, Padi dan Gigi will make a comeback on the PMI stage, sekali Sheila On 7 from last year, while Andra & The Backbone will be making their debut at the festival. Aku and Jinbara are the local guests.

I've caught a lot of Dewa's performances, so I know what kind of show they can put on. Ditto for Gigi. Read : amazing! Yang aku tunggukan kali nih is Padi sebab da lama tak nampak meka onstage sini, and also Andra & The Backbone (nak sangat layan lagu Sempurna).

And of course... Sheila On 7. Need I say more. Cue Wayne and Garth.. "We're not worthy.. we're not worthy!!!"

They came on after Samsons last year.. perghhh!!! Best gila!







Why the need for this long entry. Sebab aku nak party out this year without any bullshit.

Tiap kali ada je Pesta Malam Indonesia nih ada yang banyak songeh. Ramai rasa tegugat. Then some will talk about patriotism. Puh-lease la guys. We are Malaysian. Period!

Tapi music is without any geographical boundaries. So why limit ourselves. These acts are the best from Indonesia. Let's enjoy music as it is - in any form or language. So guys come on out and rock! Heh... promo sangat kan. Tapi aku memang hyped pasal Pesta Malam Indonesia.

Yang sapa nak kecoh pasal pekerja asing saja pergi, seriously... you need a head check. Last time I was there were helluva lot of Malaysian there enjoying themselves. Didn't make them any less Malaysians,just like it doesn't when you attend Avril, Linkin Park or even Stefanie Sun (matilah aku tetiba lari ke sana)

But seriously though, if you guys can make it, check the show out. It's a whole day event, so korang takleh cam aku. Learn to pace yourself or you'll burn out before the end of the night. I know sponsors TM will be opening their booths to promote their iTalk products. Tapi yang besh nya, beli dapat meet the bands, so more info on that opportunity later.

I hate closet fags

Pagi tadi ke mahkamah. Actually I was on the way to a warehouse sale to stock up on perfumes.. I mean.. beli stuff for birthdays past for my sis and colleague dia Jida yang baik tuh.

Then dapat SMS tanya "Are you coming" from Faz. Aku pun balas kemana. Sebaik je aku send the message, I was like.. f**k!!! Hari ni Jumaat! Court case dia!

Alamak! Damn!

Aku pun turn around nak ke court. Seb baik masa tuh kat NKVE da area exit Damansara so it was pretty near dah.

Dok dalam courtroom tuh sakit jiwa. Kenapa? Sebab ada sorang sotong kurita goreng tepung nih dengki gila wat hal ngan aku.

First aku kena tegur masa start proceedings tuh sebab I had my sunglasses on my head. Oopsie! My bad! I got the evil eye dari bapok rambut fringe senget tuh, and dia send a note to the same policeman yang tegur aku tuh. Alamak... aku dok with my legs crossed pun dia perasan. Aiyo.. you know how uncomfortable is it tak nak dok dua jam ngan prosecutor yang erm... well let's just say I have never had any lesser ambition to be in the legal field or in the police thanks to him.

So aku peluk tubuh. Skali lagik kena tegur. Aiyak. Matila ko! Tak kisah la sebab kena hormat magistrate. Tapi yang aku panas tuh, ramai dalam tuh dok peluk tubuh, silang kaki and so on tak kena tegur pun. Kimaknya tomyam seafood tuh yang target aku jerk.

Terus turn off mood aku. Spent the remainder of the period in court so bloody still sebab malas octopussybadhair tuh wat hal lagik.

Finally when it was over, aku tengah angin satu badan menyumpah dak tuh aku tak kuasa nak amik pics apa apapon.

By the way, Faz punya case submission on 29 August, skali ngan verdict on that day. Finally after four years, the case will end. Thank goodness. Hope things ok for Faz jer la.

Left for lunch ngan Faz, Jojoe (adik Faz yang now nicknamed Mojo by me) and Juan for lunch kat Damansara.

We then parted ways. I rushed for the warehouse sale, and YEAY! I kept to my budget. Well... kind of...



Besh nya aku dapat restock my Versace Dreamer. Tu memang fave aku dari dulu. Aku da berapa botol da, tapi tinggal one more je yang half full. So whacked two bottles for myself, satu bagi my sis as the first part of her birthday present, while the 50ml Mango perfume and the cream was for Jida. 100ml tu aku bagi mak aku sebab dia suka Mango Adorably tu gak, apart from the Chanel Allure and Boucheron Jaipur yang susah nak dapat sini.

Headed home to Bangsar for some shut eye. Letih gila tak cukup tido je keja.

Tak sempat nak jumpa bebudak Samsons ke nak tengok sound check ke yang into the night.
Jaga pun da kul berapa. Sempat jumpa Tang sat nak borak pasal preparation bebudak tuk show esok.

If you're going for Pesta Malam Indonesia, please take note. Hujan dan Meet Uncle Hussain kick off at 2pm. This will be follow by Dewi Dewi at 3pm. The running order for the event will be followed by Samsons, Sheila On 7, Ungu, Peterpan and wrapped up with Slank sebab meka paling senior. So kalao Samsons fans, please get there by 4pm latest or you might miss their show. And rugi kalao tak catch them in action.

The RM50 tickets are still available.

Tang passed to me the additional passes. Yeay.. esok lepak ngan Bam and Co. Also discussed a project in the works. Me likey! He also passed me the latest releaseof Sebuah Nama Sebuah Cerita which is Peterpan's greatest hits double CD album. Tatau la available kat sini ke tak lagi.



Not a big fan of Peterpan, but I also got to hear Dewa 19's new song apart from a couple of to be released tracks. Interesting...

Eh ok la.. nak sambung tido. Esok nak keluar awal.

Miscellaneous events of a mediocre day

I made my way to Tune hotel tadik for the press conference untuk Pesta Malam Indonesia 2. Sebenarnya aku pelik sebab kalao ikutkan, aku tanak pergi. Sebab Bam da SMS aku kata jumpa on the 15th kerana dia ajak lepak sebab last time they were here, they were kinda rushing about for the two gigs. Tapi ada lak yang bagitau semua artis involved ada.

Pelik gak sebab pikir punya pikir, hari ni baru 14hb. Dia salah bagitau ke?

So headed there, and true enough, Samsons the only band yang takde sebab meka bakal sampai esok. The boys were in Japan still we were told.

Heh... aku angguk je bila diberitahu. I knew that!

Anyway sejurus selesai je, si Bam SMS kata meka baru sampai. I'm assuming he meant baru sampai kembali ke Jakarta from Japan. Dia kata jumpa esok when they get here. Yeay! Eh.. oops! Tak berani aku nak happy sangat... kang ada orang kata aku ni not Malaysian enough sebab bukan seronok pasal artis sendiri tapi pasal artis luar.

Erm... blog aku takyah paksa pun dah content lebih 90% sokong artis tempatan ok.

Anyway, aku malas nak amik pic, so here are the members of Peterpan, Ungu, Slank, Sheila On 7 and Dewi Dewi masa PC. Sori ler tak amik banyak pic. Esok aku amik banyak kalao aku ke sound check ok. Heh... tengok Samsons sound check baru aku gi.. sebab tunggu personal invitation je.

Got the tickets for everyone else masa the event. Siap t shirt yang aku akan hadiahkan pada kengkawan gak. The only thing of value personally to me was the damn parking stickers. Mencik kalao kena parking sebatu time nak gi show camni. Heh.. passes yang dapat tuh semua tuk orang lain.

Aku nya nunggu je for backstage All Access VIP leh? Matilah berangan. Da orang ajak... aku pun iyakan je. Sapa yang tak sexcited kan kalao da one of your fave artists personally ajak lepak.
Talented and down to earth... lotsa lessons to be learnt here dari artis artis sini yang ada yang perasan hebat dan berangan lebih....

Just something snapped on the road. Sapalah yang rajin sumbat bunga matahari celah celah tuh...


Headed to PJ pastu with Juan to lepak with Faizal. Kami lepak ler kat Jaya One lantak Wendy's. Erm... guys and gals.. please ye kalao makan, especially bab burger nih, don't stuff your faces, keep your tissues handy and always be ready to wipe unsuspecting possible zones which may have traces of foodstuff. Contoh mamat bawah ni... tengok hidung dia.

Memula tak sure, tapi lama lama perasan ada mayo hidung dia. And the best thing dia tak perasan langsung. Aduh... rasa evil je gelak gila babiks. Tapi nak tegur dia rasa lagik malu lak kang. So left it be. Sampai kita nak gerak tuh, haram dia lap idung dia walaupon lap molot berapa kali.

After we were done hung at my place in Bangsar sebelom jumpa a couple of friends kat Pelita, including Nur Aliah Lee. Met Aliah bebetul once je, walaupun banyak kali terserempak. Time tu aku tengah final day sebelum wrap my scenes ketika shooting telemovie Gaia.
Seronok gak dapat sembang ngan dia... yer lah... kerap jumpa tak acquainted. Ni dapat pot pet berejam rasa best lak kenal.



Chilled a bit as we were joined by Mohariz. With him being an active local songwriter, we chatted about the 90:10 issue. Heh... berapi gak. Mana taknya. Aku rasa cam sebenarnya ramai ada pendapat berapi pasal isu tuh, tapi yang dilaporkan pendapat mereka yang segelintir yang vocal jerk without considering the majority yang really the ones who will feel the adverse effect of it all.

Speaking of the 90:10, thanks sultanmuzaffar for the mention of my previous posting. At least ada yang speak out on this. I think too many remain silent sebab tak kuasa, atau takut... but something has to be done before more damage is done than good by well-meaning, but extremely disillusioned folks.

Ok la... nak tido da. Esok nak rush sambut tamu ke Malaysia. Unlike some people, I appreciate talent no matter where they're from, and I prefer to be hospitable to people coming to our country without calling them names. Matilah aku kena carut pasnih.... tapi ada aku kisah?

I am me!

Oh my. How they come out of the woodwork! Lum pe pe lagik aku pas kata aku da nak keluar dari jaga Stacy jerk ada yang da bisik memacam. Grow up la people. It was a business deal.

Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

I had a laugh about the whole thing. New resolution for 2008. If it's not too late that is.

Which is don't give a flying.. erm... cluck about what people think.

Anyway, over the course of these few days, I've been deep in thought.

Doesn't happen often, so brace yourselves.

I've had a major epiphany! Yes! An epiphany. Ok... simpler terms. A sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.

Was reading back some old blog entries and I went like WHOA!!! Man, can I be nasty.
It was fun to read through some stuff I wrote, painful as they might be to relive, and I discovered in the last couple of years, I've lost my sense of humour!
Camna tuh?

Had a talk with my mentor over things, and with a much clearer head, here I go.
To everyone reading this, if you've been cussed by me, had a fall out with me, been bitch slapped by me... I'm sorry.

Not because I regret what happened as I never believe in regretting things past.
But I am sorry because of how things worked out.

So to all the people who have been on the warpath with me through the years, even the unforgiveable few - peace! Live long, prosperous lives.

I know know how to lead mine.

By putting myself first and foremost. I dissected most of my problems, and you know what, I realise they all bear a strange pattern.

It always involves me putting someone else's needs before mine. And then I eventually end up bitter because the results, or resulting situation langsung tak setimpal with what I expect.
Thus anger, thus resentment, when I feel taken for granted, for a ride,or just plain overlooked.
So no more of that.

Gawd! That feels so good to say. Who would have thought being selfish and thinking of yourself could make you feel this good!

Heh.. apa pun, honestly to everyone, I've moved on to a happier place, so to everyone (malas nak list, though I calculated there should be about six names) let's get on with our lives. Or if you can't, then there's really nothing I can do for you so it's your own problem.

Moving on, aku hari ni worked on some paperwork to tighten up Project R, and worked out the nitty gritty.


It's been a mentally tiring past few days, but now I feel renewed.
Just needed time with myself.

Will blog more tomorrow.

Slank!

Semalam layan Konsert SuriaFM Green Everyday or whatever it's called. Malas nak posting panjang panjang, so bebanyak aku post pics jer lah ek.

Hope you guys like it. Tapi yang beshnya dapat jumpa Samuel Rizal (ala yang lakon Eiffel... I'm In Love tuh). Tak bump into Nicholas Saputra...but sempat lepak ngan Titi DJ, Yuni Shara and Slank!

Ramai gak local artis terlibat...so ok ler. The event last the whole evening into the night so was a bit bushed by the end of it. Not my thing to stay up late... must be the age thing. Apapon, it wasn't exactly the best concert I've been to sebab kelam kabut, generator blow, and banyak technical problems.
