Xanax

Mmm... where do I start on Akademi Fantasia tonight?

Went for the show with low expectations, but kept a clear mind on without bias of the ridiculous runnings of programming (soal Diari time Maghrib, soal pecahan Konsert ke dua bahagian ke Konsert dan Debaran), as well as some other reservations I had (like Brands being the main sponsor instead of Hotlink - which is crap).

Thought maybe the kids could prove me wrong.

Especially since production janji musim ni takde yang tone deaf, everyone has individuality that will shine out etc.

So erased any harapan I had, and pretended I was going for a show that I never ever watched in my life (and not one where I have dedicated seven years following).

And so... where do I start.

Masuk je, greeted by the stage. Aku took some time to ponder over what I thought about it.

For some reason, kalao korang umur 30 ke atas, maybe korang penah nampak something like this. It looks like some retro-futuristic set. You know like watching the 70s version of Star Trek and having a console panel with blinking lights and believing those doodads worked.

It wasn't horrifyingly scary. In fact, I have to say in a way, this was better than Planetarium Negara yang menjadi set tahun lepas. You know.. with the hanging ions and stuff.

Tapi kan... I don't know. It just looked kind of gimmicky and cheap. Not to mention the circular stage and seating positions are very Idol derived - again, I don't want to see any references o Idol, especially memandangkan Akademi Fantasia skang banyak 'pinjam' idea daripada siri Idol and aku rasa Akademi Fantasia patut mempunyai imej sendiri, seperti tika mulanya dulu in 2003.

It looked very Xanadu inspired (it was a musical film in 1980 with Olivia Newton John having a it with the theme song, thank you - for those yang tatau their music). Watch below for the video.

The lights... the feel... I don't know. This is like a jazzed up, reworked version of Xanadu 1980 in 2010.

Either that or rupa cam hiasan lampu taman tema memana, with those light towers looking a lot like the Solaris Shot (tatau la nama skang.. kowser nak gi Genting)

So anyway the show... erm.. what did I think of it?

Jimmy was a nervous wreck, which I understand. And he didn't do as bad as I thought, though it was painfully obvious dia terlalu tertekan sampai aku tengok Sarimah pon tertekan nak berlumba sebab Jimmy seolah baca skrip tanpa intonasi atau perasaan.

Sarimah did well under the conditions... but even she found it hard to make the show any better.

Thans to the kids.

Erm.. daripada rupa, aku da kata awal-awal. Takde sorang pon yang ada aura star langsung.

Harus faham ye.. semua orang mampu nyanyi. Dan kebanyakan mampu nyanyi dengan baik. Tapi untuk menjadi seorang penyanyi in all essence of the word - it's not something you learn. A performer, an artiste, a singer - whether recording or live - is born, not made.

You just have to find that diamond, that's lurking under the facade of a diamond, and work your way into uncovering the beauty of it.

These kids?

Ada tiga orang je kalao ikutkan show malam tadi yang ada potential to be marketable (tak kisah la kalao ada peminat karat skang ke pas ni nak kata apa). Hakikatnya in this business, kalao da takleh jual, ko tolak camna pon, paling kuat you can make it, is to be a one off hit.

You can rely on gimmicks or outer presentation, but that will only get you so far if you don't have the substance.

And most of these kids nan hado bila perform. Kebanyakan mereka tahap penyanyi karaoke yang bersepah kat Red Box, Green Box dan Warong Pak Su kat Bentong, ok!

Even the best vocal work, choreography onstage and the best outfits (which you'll never see on the Akademi Fantasia stage), won't help them become stars in all essence of the word. Flash in the pan wit a shelf life of six months perhaps.

Am I being too harsh? Perhaps....

You see, Akademi Fantasia da lapan tahun. Evolution is inescapable. Tapi kan, perubahan itu bukan dari segi kosmetik saja. Yang perlu memang seleksi pelajar yang betul. Ramai bakat kat luar tu yang mempunyai that natural talent to be deserving to be onstage.

Instead, semalam, I saw a lot of wannabes and posuers yang cuba nak tiru gaya artis jerk.

Aku nak review performance semalam cam kejam lak kan... sebab bebudak ni kira not even first concert. So takyah la nak uar berus jamban ke apa nak bagi rating.

Kira aku bagi peluang one concert to see what they're made of. But untuk aku setakat ini, hanya tiga orang saja yang nampak kemampuan dari dalam diri mereka untuk be stars. Potential ada.

Pilihan aku? Farina dari Bintulu, Sarawak. Ema dari Ranau, Sabah. Dan Ain dari Sandakan, Sabah. Bebudak pompuan lain? Erm... not even a hope nak jadik the next tier one superstar. They just don't have it inside them. The three girls aku rasa yang stand out in competition have a lot of work to do to improve themselves, but I see something inside them that tells me they will make it big.

The boys? Shah? Too many handicaps stand in his way, and his gift is not enough. That's the harsh reality. He doesn't have a package - and missing an outstanding voice or personality to offset it all walaopon kira ok antara bebudak lelaki yang lain yang haus (Haus macam Daus tuh - azab! Mintak mintak minggu pertama bebetul Bye Bye Bye)

Iwan? Nice tone, tapi takde range langsung. Aku da agak masuk je chorus mesti da start shaky. By the bridge, tajuk albumnya nan hado. Shahir yang paling ada pakej antara bebudak laki - but seriously nampak wannabe sangat.

Kalao musim-musim sebelom ni we've seen these type of contestants... doesn't the production want to break the mold?

Every musim, kita nampak.. bebudak camni... masuk.. memang stakat program ada la peminat, tapi realitinya lepas enam bulan - HAUS!

I'm sure the kids are all nice and all... and it's nothing personal. But I think production shouldn't have given them false hope in selecting them to make them think they had a hope in chance to make it in the real business.

Most of them will go the way of Adam and Dafi. You tell me if that's genuinely a good thing.

I prefer artistes yang leh tahan apa saja yang mai - ups and downs. Think quality acts like Ning, Ziana, Siti... Anuar... you know what I mean.

And generasi skang, dengan stok cam Yuna, Najwa, Aizat, Bunkface, Lan and the Typewriter and so many more new talents yang AMAZING and non conventional from the traditional manufactured molds - peserta camnih.. erm.. entahlah...

Like I said. Nothing is concrete right now. I may change my mind. One more concert and another song before I can see clearer.

But stakat ni da at least enam tujuh yang aku memang bajet nan hado da.

But in case any of you still want to know what I thought of the show by the kids... I will say it in pictures. Korang pepandai la decipher these pictures to get an image of what I felt when I saw them performing.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... so here's your lengthy entry.

Jangan salah tafsir ek... but sesapa leh teka maksud aku sebalik these pics tahniah. Some are pretty straightforward.. some are more complex and some ada double meaning. And orang cam Alif tuh aku bagi dua pic... heh!

Now that we're done with that.. dah.. malas nak ulas panjang agik pasal Tirai Akademi Fantasia! Letih!

Pada kengkawan yang seberang laut ke takde Astro, korang layan la sendiri. Your opinions may differ from mine - tapi kalao tak suka apa cakap sini, senang je... jangan baca ek!

Apapon just hit play and all 14 parts of the Tirai will play. Thanks Crystle!

Ok.. so else do I have to share on this Sunday morning. Owh... ada benda ni. Masa nak gi stadium aku perasan this signboard.

Ladies and gentleman - this is what happens when you cut back on advertising costs and get a very bad copywriter. Hasilnya - English marvellous!

Yes, I think people would desire me as a baby, thank you. Sapa yang tak paham salah ayat di atas ni 'Are You Desired For A Baby' - no komen. Very the salah translation ok!

And one more pic to share. Baru kuar kat Twitter from Umie Aida. She just tweeted about a minute or two ago.

TAHNIAH!!! Dah selamat menikah di Tanah Suci. Syukur. Congratulations gal! Looking forward meeting up with you bila balik kang. Hugs.

Ah... now for a lazy Sunday. Rasa cam nak usha keta baru ari ni... da sampai masa.

PS - Thanks everyone for tweeting with me live masa konsert. Tak sakit ati sangat layan ngan borak ngan korang. Heh... sapa tak add, cepat ek. My ID is klubbkiddkl or hit the Twitter link above!

Blows!

Leaving for Dewan Sri Putra in a while for Tirai Akademi Fantasia. Not excited in the least. Sebenarnya kan.. the first time since Akademi Fantasia bermula - aku MALAS nak gi.

Kalao bukan kerana kerja nak wat liputan, tajuk albumnya 'I Don't Give A Damn'.

Seriously everything about the show da ubah to the point nampak sangat meka tak hormat pada peminat rancangan ni that made it the longest running reality TV show - and still the most popular in Malaysia.

Sedih kan?

Aku rasa kali ni show da jadik self-indulgent. Syok sendiri... projek berangan. With the system of konsert dan results show (feeling Idol!... walaopon nak kata konsep Sehati Berdansa... hello? American Idol da berapa musim?), sampai la ke Diari ketika time Maghrib, everything is just so wrong.

I don't know how the stage or the Akademi will come in after being redesigned - but make-up can never help a show. The spirit of it is more important, and somehow, Akademi Fantasia kali ni da pengsan dan koma.

Malam ni, aku nak tengok contestant lak. Dari segi rupa, hado aura langsung. Mai kita tengok onstage lak. Stok ada harapan nak develop ke (kalao ada pon, masuk bawah AESB kang ado ke hado? Sila rujuk pada bakat bawah AESB skang for comparison) ataupun stakat nak popular konsep mee segera.

We'll see.

Bak kata sorang pengkritik kat Akademi Fantasia dulu.. I deserve my comment. Matilah ko!

What do you guys think? Should I even bother this season? Aku rasa very the kemalasan nak blogging musim ni pasal Akademi Fantasia. Aku tau beberapa bloggers pon da malas nak go on (biarlah sapa nak sambung keja tak bergaji kita).

Apapon... we'll see tonight.

Pada semua, if you wanna read real-time comments from me dari Dewan Sri Putra, I'll be tweeting about it. So korang layan royanan aku ketika show ek.

For those yang lom follow aku kat Twitter - add aku on @klubbkiddkl and follow my comments there. See you guys there.

Sorry seems to be...

Erm.. semua da tau kisah Ammar da.

Well, the press conference nak mintak maap atas perangai, tindakan dan kata-kata dia didn't go down as well as expected.

He started ok.. and then the blame game started.

I mean, nak salahkan dia for that pon susah. Sebab kebanyakan yang salah, dalam kata-kata dia. Nampak sangat dia masih dak mentah yang tak reti susun kata-kata.

And that sometimes, is the biggest problems faced by 'artistes' in Malaysia.

Most of them don't know how to articulate themselves. Cakap pon kekadang tak betol... merapu ke..

And in Ammar's case, the same thing that got him into trouble - prolonged the apology session.

Aku sampai lambat. Press conference patut start 3pm. Aku sampai pon da 4.30 petang. Mana taknya... kat NKVE, ada accident - SEBERANG JALAN. Punya lahanat punya manusia tertentu, walaopon kemalangan di seberang jalan, main henti-henti nak tengok. BODOH!

Akibatkan, dari exit Kota Damansara stretch jam sampai just before Damansara for no fucking reason. BODOH!

And then on top of that, sampai PWTC - keta semua double, triple parked bagai. BODOH!

Ni kes MATTA fair lahar tuh la yang menyebabkan. I, for the life of me, don't see why people hold these kind of events in PWTC no more. That building has so fucking outlived its purpose. The infrastructure, facilities is so outdated dan tak sesuai tuk apa apa kecuali kenduri kahwin indoors.

To make matters worse, kuda belang semua tarak.

Lahar...

Just some of the many things so bloody wrong in our beautiful country when it comes to the traffic network. If the one we have can be considered as one anyway.

Don't even get me started about the quality of cabs or busses or even stupid motorcyclists who think they rule the road (I say ban anything under 500cc!)

Apakah???

Tuh dia... tapi does it work?

Anyway... menyimpang lak maki maki nih. Kes Ammar... PC yang eventually started 3.45pm, since everyone got stuck too, ended about 5.30pm! Mana taknya... berpanjangan. Ramai nak ceramah bagai.

I understand everyone's anger and frustration. Ammar got what he deserved. Ni lom agik awek dia yang poyo tuh. Kat Facebook nak meroyan bagai nak kata orang tak beretika sebab konon terjah lokasi - padahal mangkuk hayun artis berangan yang 'educated' sangat tuh sendiri tak sedar yang invite pada media di send out by the TV station yang nak amik production tuh.

Eh menyimpang lagik. Anyway, I don't know how sincere Ammar is, but yes, he does deserve a chance. But don't expect free rides la. I always believe that if you want respect, you have to EARN it, not demand it.

And before he even earned any, he got people to lose it more for him (is that possible when you have nothing to start with?)

But since he has been gentlemanly enough to eat humble pie, hopefully dia belajar nak mendalami seni lakonan kalao betol tu minat dia. Jangan jadi stengah yang feeling jadik pelakon sebab (name any amount of reasons but passion or any reference to real appreciation of the craft).

To those in the future yang plan to fuck up their own lives with totally stupid and uncalled for statements, pikir-pikir lah dulu.

Unless you have a few Oscars, a Tony or two, and maybe a couple of BAFTAs - and a record box-office setting film - jangan berangan diva. Sebab orang tak sembah ko. You're not out of reach to pull down and body slam on the ground.

Nak wat camna.... dunia glamer ni menjadi tumpuan bukan sahaja yang berbakat bebenar je... While it's like bees to honey for the talented, it's also like flies to shit bagi meka yang berangan lebih dari mampu, yang can't do anything else and want a quick break into fame and fortune (or untuk mendapat laki/bini/sponsor/sugar) sebab that's the only they'll EVER get ahead in life. Sad....!!!

So to Ammar, good move this time, and keep to your word and improve yourself.

After abih PC, nak gerak gi Kota Damansara. Haram jadah punya trafik! Dari PWTC ke Kota Damansara bayangkan... aku gerak 7.15pm gituh. Sampai Kota Damansara at 9pm!!! Like what the heck???

Malam tadi memang haram la everywhere. Jam sana sini. Sumpah ranah je keja aku kat Twitter.

Takde mood nak update pepanjang (walaopon da meroyan tak abih). Esok je la update agik...

Trouble!

After all the negativity I've gone through, with the really stupid bulimic and anorexic aspirations in The Biggest Loser Asia and the almost clueless Akademi Fantasia 8, mai aku start the morning a bit more interesting.

Any Jeremy Renner fans in the house (hell yeah!) And Pink fans in the house? Hell yeah.

So you're talking about one of my favourite actors EVER and one of my favourite singers EVER (I still remember meeting her... brings a smile to my face). Combine that? And put in a then unknown group called... Pussycat Dolls, and I have the perfect song to start my morning with.

This was the first single I believe off Pink's Try This album, called Trouble. My theme song for the day. Feeling inspired to go out and rip it up! Yeah! Nothing like starting the morning with a song like this (Play this loud! It's inspiring!), while watching Jeremy (yes, he's the sheriff), the Dolls and Pink herself in the video. Lotsa fun.

Got some things to sort out today... no time to idle about.

I may continue my Oscar movie marathon again. Yesterday night rewatched Up In The Air, Up, The Hurt Locker and The Blind Side (which I never got to finish). May go through a few more Oscar nominated movies (most of which I haven't watched yet especially the foreign language ones). What? Avatar... Lord give me strength to sit through that one again. Enjoyable but... erm... it's an experience once. But I'll pass.

Will blog later... meanwhile... sing along.. I'm trouble!!! I'm trouble y'all!!!

PS - Heard The Biggest Loser Asia and Akademi Fantasia host, Sarimah Ibrahim and Marion Caunter are favourites from Malaysia for the spot to host for E News Asia. Hope the producers look closely at both of them as they are (especially Sarimah) really talented!

Losers!

Ok I promised to tell you guys more about what happened at The Biggest Loser Asia finale, so here it is.

The 'live' telecast of the final you guys watched? Total bullshit. It was taped in the afternoon. I have no idea what was the rationale in it being advertised as being live.

Now let me tell you what happened.

Invites put the event to begin at 9.30am. Now I can understand usual delays, but taping only began at 11.30am!!! Nutsacks and two angry camels in a tiny car!!!!

Apa ni... walaopon kita ni waktu Malaysia memang tambah masa sikit konsep injury time takkan sampai camni? Kurang ajar betul! Takpe... sabar separuh dari iman... kata ko! Walaopon...

Anyway, that was still fine.

So recording began. And that was when I felt like unleashing the fury of hell (or at least an empty stomach) on the people responsible.

The two-hour slot programme (which was in actual time I suppose just over an hour and a half which began taping at 11.30am ended ONLY at 3pm!!! Two camels in a tiny car be humpin' your momma!

Seriously???!!!!

Three and a half FUCKING hours???

Bodoh ke apa meka ni?

The so-called professional regional folks behind the show, screwed up production BIG TIME!

It was bad, real bad and I have never seen anything as badly put together like this in over 13 years of journalism being to some of the biggest shows around. Even our local TV programs which are really broadcast live are handled better than this. I've been to Indonesian TV stations too and they do things WAY more professional than this!

To Hallmark - if you're going to do another edition of The Biggest Loser Asia, sack the REAL LOSERS in the production twats who fucked up big time and couldn't even deliver a TV show recording and took double the time needed!

I mean really.... from the opening, it was already screwed up! The audio from the steady cam Sarimah was working with couldn't sync or something. That wasted a good 20 minutes. And that was just at the very beginning of the taping.

Then there was the power trip where the VT that was being shown was rudely interrupted (I think the only power trip was the ever-yakking director who was incompetent at best!), the introduction of the eliminated former cast members that had some stupid glitch resulting in more delays and even during the final weigh-in when the software (or some idiot manning it) caused more hold-ups when Carlo's result came out in blue (he's team red - and that fuck-up took more than 15 minutes to settle).

I know production problems are inevitable - but this was imply RIDICULOUS! If there had been a proper technical run-through, I'm sure most of these problems would not have surfaced. Which means somebody's stupidity and lack of planning resulted in this fiasco.

So I had my ass parked in Finas from 9.30am to 3pm (I left the moment the winner was announced, and didn't bother to stay for the damn media conference which began later).

This is not the fucking Oscars, and no journalist sits through more than 6 to 7 hours for just a damn TV show taping. HONESTLY! Surrounded by nincompoops who had no clue what they were doing.

And need I mention how arrogant some of the production members were?

Ada minah salleh sorang ni... kerek nak mampos! During the power trip which took another 20 minutes or so to settle, she was overheard saying to a helpless production crew member, "Why are these people coming out! You should stop them!".

Hey lady, you think we're fucking cattle or something?

Stupid, arrogant people behind the production. Who didn't even have the brain cells to work out that the venue was so wrong for the event.

I mean, you had so many people who were really not at their ideal bodyweight, huffing and puffing away up really steep stairs, trying to get a place to sit (hard, studio bleachers are not very comfortable if you have to sit direct for three and a half hours especially when some power trip Caucasian female is giving you the evils or making comments likening you to cattle who should stay put and be patient with her team's stupidity!).

All in that - that FUCKED UP my experience that was supposed to be inspirational.

And dare I mention watching the contestants?

For the first half hour, I was seriously impressed and inspired by the stories and transformation of some of the contestants. Tony from Thailand, Hafiz from Singapore and Gary from Thailand too, I believe were inspiring for losing so much weight on their own, despite being booted out of the show. Honestly they were barely recognizable.

The rest did well too, even Kevin from Philippines who brought the tears on for his slightly.. well.. much but could be healthier appearance.

And some of that feeling of being inspired remain to watch finalists Martha Lai from Hong Kong and our own home boy Aaron Mokhtar from Kuala Lumpur come out, looking amazing.

Then Carlo, from the Philippines, the crowd favourite came out. I was amazed at how much he lost and respected that he not only lost weight, but he toned up well, showing that he was not only cutting down weight and losing the bodyfat but also working on toning himself up (which is difficult and many of contestants had tell tale signs of speedy weight loss over a short period of time with the saggy skin and all).

Then David Gurnani from Indonesia who was my favourite came out.

And that's when I stopped being inspired.

The King who has been consistent in his efforts and performance throughout the show was nothing more than walking bones clothed in skin! In fact, he looked like he was on the verge of collapse and it was obvious he WASN'T healthy as he took too much effort to even make the slightest movement.

He may have lost an accumulated 83kg from his 157kg to become the first Biggest Loser Asia, shedding more than 53% of his body fat - in two months extreme eight to ten hour workouts daily.

He may have walked (if you can call it that) with US$100,000 (RM350, 000) and a car but he did NOT inspire me. In fact he scared the fucking bejeebers out of me. He looked skeletal and anorexic and just... so wrong!

Is this what The Biggest Loser Asia is trying to put across? People who starve themselves for the sake of money?

I know the original programme may not have been perfect too, but they didn't go skin and bones to win.

I thought the spirit of the programme was to inspire people to be fit and healthy - and this was just, so effing wrong!

Are you inspired by The Biggest Loser Asia?

Not me. I want to reach my ideal body weight and body fat count too like a lot of people, but this is just so... two angry camels in a tiny car!!!!

Honestly.

Watch the finale (if you haven't... it's less painful as unlike me you didn't have to sit through a total of 5 1/2 hours of stupidity on display). You'll understand what I mean.

To the contestants, I hope you guys keep working it out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the sake of health and not money or a car.

To the finalists, Aaron and Martha - you guys inspire me.

To Carlo - you are amazing and doing it the right way with amazing results.

To David, you need to stop looking like a body double for Skeletor and get back to being healthy and not the poster boy for anorexia nervosa. I believed in you doing it the right way. Not when you began trying to look like a bad attempt at Kate Moss's waif-heroin chic look. For your sake... get healthy and eat now that you have the USD$100,000.

To Sarimah - great job!

To Hallmark - get a new production crew as the idiots you hired are just INCOMPETENT!

And to the production and PR team - you guys are the biggest losers in Asia I know.

PS - To viewers, next time they tell you something is 'live' chances are some idiots were sitting in a studio for almost three times the actual length of the programme fuming at the stupidity of some incompetents.

Menuju Puncak... or somewhere towards the peak at least

Ok... so the start of the day was pretty shitty - no thanks to the stupid ass event that was called The Biggest Loser Asia finale.

Dahla nak gi sana da sekian hal. Please note kebijaksanaan sapa entah yang pilih to do contruction on a very busy stretch on the LDP on a freaking Tuesday morning.

Will go on about that later (about program lahar tuh... not the traffic situation). Malas nak meroyan skang... kang banyak result bagai aku bagitau sebelom tayang kol 9 malam kang. Ala... tayang tuuuu... yang kononnya live bagai tapi sebenarnya rakaman hanjeng belaka. Nanti je la aku carot kenapa.

Abih event puaka tuh, aku gi pengenalan 12 pelajar untuk Akademi Fantasia musim ke lapan.

Nampaknya, benar ek tilikan aku. Heh... no komen. Sapa yang da baca whether in chat ke on my fan page ke column aku, da tau seminggu dua lepas kan?

Anyway kali ni aku rasa hampeh dot com sikit la suasana AF8. Tatau la... bak kata juri tertentu dulu, I deserve my comment (matilah aku!) Kita tunggu je betol ke tak janji produksi kononnya takde sekor pon tone deaf ek! baru start carotan panjang berjela.

Tak kuasa aku nak biodata penoh bagai so here it is.

Pelajar perempuan - empat orang dari Sabah (berlakon pengsan terkejut) dan adalah Nadiawati Ainul Basir (Ain) - 23, Dayang Nor Anum Arjuna Aharun (Anum) - 19, serta sepasang adik beradik (is this even realistic???) Erma Suhaimi - 21 (Ema) dan Siti Adira Suhaimi - 19 (Adira).

Selebihnya peserta perempuan, seorang dari Sarawak iaitu Zafarina Jamhari (Farina), 28, dan Nadia Emilia Roselan (Nad), 21. Nad ni dak Klang... budak kampung aku nih... awas la carotan lebih tiga bakul dari peserta lain kalao malukan kampung halaman kita yang traffic jam tiap pagi cam armageddon lahar itu.

Skang sila cuci mata atas wajah-wajah kaum Hawa dalam Akademi Fantasia musim kelapan.

Please note - HAVE SOME RESPECT for the owners of the copyright of these pictures. Credit should be given to Astro and Akademi Fantasia, dan jangan pandai-pandai watermark gambar-gambar ni ngan URL atau logo blog atau website korang yang nan hado. Honestly... that is infringement of the owners' rights. Beretika sikit ketika nak melayari Internet (ramai sangat bangsat pandai on PC tapi tak pandai baca kat luar tuh)

Ain
Anum
Ema
Adira
Farina
Nad

Bebudak laki reverse lak... as I revealed much earlier. Hanya seorang dari East Malaysia iaitu Muhd Shahril Firdaus El (Daus) - 22 dari Sarawak.

Ni sorang agik dak Klang iaitu Muhammed Shahril Mohd Saleh Hussein (Shah) 26. Harap awas ye... jangan malukan orang Klang.

Remainder are Muhammad Alif Kadim (Alif - berapa banyak Alif da nih... ni kedua dalam AF, pastuh keluar pakai nama Alif agik tambah pening la semua bersepah yang bernama Alif) - 18 dari Kuala Lumpur, Ahmad Shahir Zawawi (Shahir) - 21 dari Perak, Emirza Awan Zulazrin Chew (Iwan - panggil je Emi kan better... heh!) - 20 dari Negeri Sembilan dan Muhd Firdaus Maulana Mohamed (Maulana) - 22 dari Johor.

And here are how the boys look like.

Daus
Shah
Alif
Shahir
Iwan
Maulana

So are you guys convinced?

Buat kali pertama dalam aku ikut Akademi Fantasia sejak permulaan lagi di musim pertama... I am not in the least excited.

I like the Sarimah and Jimmy combination. Tapis selain itu, soal programming, cast list bebudak ni... langsung tak meyakinkan aku sebagai peminat that it will be... well.. interesting to watch.

In fact, I have this impending feeling of doom which I had masa AF4... only worse.

Apapon aku tanak komen lebih (walaopon rasa berbakul nak carot da - dan sebab aku tak terlibat tahun ni dan bebudak ni bukan student aku cam musim lepas, aku leh bagi teguran - abih la blog aku ni kena serang karats lagik pasni). To be fair, aku tunggu first show - tu pun kalao aku rasa nak gi sebab tak kuasa ada konsert pastuh results show lak feeling Idol. Aduh!!!!

Some people just don't understand what is sacred to Akademi Fantasia.

AF8 bermula dengan Tirai AF Sabtu ini 13 Mac 2010 at 9 pm di Astro Ria. Diari bermula the the following Monday pada jam 7.30 malam (solat Maghrib tak nih?).

Apapon kita wait and see je.

Nak tengok apa pendapat korang.

Girls night out?

Kalau baca title entry... cam betul je, girls night out.

Actually it was Umie's berinai event sebelum dia menikah kat Mekah on 14 Mac. She invited friends, media and of course also family members for the simple event.

Aku claustrophobic sikit ramai orang yang turned up, but it was a feelgood event. Plus on top of that, rumah dia kat I-Zen tuh memang selera - like a duplex penthouse (yang berdepan my Mont Kiara home). Cantik some basic makeover da bermula kat umah tuh.
Tak sempat snappy banyak pics sebab seriously had some stuff on my mind, plus rengsa la sikit mood aku.

But sib baik kengkawan ramai, so enjoyable. I think most of the time was spent kat the humongous balcony (which could have been two massive room combined) enjoying the view of Mont Kiara and Hartamas, while puffing away.

The bride to be
The BFF - Erra
Aku pemalas lak nak snappy banyak pics lately. Entah kenapa. Takde mood nak update sangat. Still, in keeping with my resolution from, what was it... two or three years ago? Aku update gak tetiap hari walaopon kekadang concept ala lagging gituh kan, lembab je nak kuar, delayed.

Ni pon nak end entry yang pendek ni. Nanti-nanti je ok angin better, aku update lebih panjang.

PS - Extremely happy The Hurt Locker swept at the Oscars!!!! Wish Up In The Air had won something as it was one of the best movies in contention, and that Precious could have taken more (but I love Monique's performance and glad she won). Not that I'm against Avatar or anything - but I think it won the categories it deserved, which was mostly technical.

Just disappointed over Best Actor though. Jeremy Renner should have won for The Hurt Locker (one of my few favourite actors of all time) or George Clooney for Up In The Air. But I guess the Academy still remains predictable over choices sometimes. Oh well... at least Sandra Bullock won.

Sayang...

After a slow boring weekend which was HOT, syukur la hari ni not so bad.

First of all, the nice, cloudy - almost gray day was welcome relief and secondly sebab after getting enough rest, belah malam gi Hard Rock Cafe nak layan Dayang and Marcell performing live.

Dah lama, sejak zaman Planet Hollywood takde showcase yang camni, in this kind of environment (I'm not a fan of No Black Tie - but I love Malam Nada Biru which just had its second show).

So seronok lak ada showcase camni. Dayang and Marcell were AWESOME. Sapa ada kat show tuh will testify to that. Kalao ikut show camnih biasa at the end of 45 minutes mesti ada break or intermission - for the performer to recover as well as not to have the audiences bored.

Dayang and Marcell kept passing the baton, first opening together, then each taking turns going solo with the occasional duet thrown in. I like!!! They went on about two hours! Gila!!!

Aku tak bawak camera, so pakai Blackberry je la jawab nya. Korang troll about blog bebudak lain mesti ada pics show. Me, aku shoot dari seat aku je, which was next to the performer's table.

Marcell and wifey
Aku ada la amik snippet video sana sini. Kang aku upload. Meanwhile, nak make this entry really short sebab esok nak kuar awal pagi to take my mom for her check-up. Could be quite a serious situation... so we'll see. But for now takde mood nak update sangat.

Here's to a crazy week! Esok malam lak ada Umie punya berinai. Pagi patutnya nak join Star World punya event meka host for the Oscars (a breakfast with the Oscars thing they do every year), but since taking my mom out so have to pass on that.

Eh ok la.. kata tanak go on... tak stop agik. Ciao bella!

PS - Why do people try so hard to come across as intellectuals when they're so full of crap and reveal their one track mind?

BB apps

Ari ni malas sangat sebab panas ya amat, so keja main godek apps for Blackberry je. Ni aku nak kongsi applications you MUST have on the Blackberry 9700/Bold 2/Onyx.

This will hopefully help some people, especially those I know to make their Blackberrys more useful (aku kenal some ada Blackberry berketul dan da pakai lama tapi hampeh tau how to use it)

Ni my personal list of apps I have been trying and which I think is absolutely the best to have on your phone without just wasting space in your memory for having it. Kalao korang nak, online je ngan your BB and click the download links for direct access and download to your phone.

Sapa pakai BB yang masih pakai bebola tuh, pepandai la godek sendiri. My recommended site is Blackberry Seeker. They have the best listings of apps, themes and games there.

Hope you guys have fun downloading these and that your Blackberry becomes a one-stop comm centre after this.

Here's my list of MUST HAVES on the Blackberry (specifically the Onyx). From your phone, just click the links for download for immediate OTA download and install.

Blackberry Messenger 5.0 (CLICK HERE FOR INFO AND DOWNLOAD)
Do I even need to elaborate why you need this? Unless you are not subscribing to BBM (and what a waste if you aren't... what's the point of having a BB then?), this application is like du-uh - WAJIB! There are other hybrid messengers out there integrating other applications with the Blackberry Messenger, but I like my BBM to be stand alone. For integrated messengers, search Pairingo, WhatsApp or IMplus.

Don't forget to add Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger or even Skype for Blackberry if you have those accounts if like me you prefer those stand-alone apps.

For those who tweet, this is a must have. There are many apps out there for Twitter on Blackberry, but I find Ubertwitter the best after having testing out a few. Not perfect, but enough to satisfy tweeting on the go. Also enables Tweetphoto, so linking a pic to a tweet has never been easier. From your gallery, terus send ke Ubertwitter with whatever caption. Takes just seconds (unless your line is crappy)

Ok, so you can get on Facebook online, but this app makes it so much easier if you're only doing the basic functions. Condensed version of Facebook. Again, like BBM, there are a lot of integrated apps out there which combines Facebook with other social media... but I wanted specifically for Facebook.

Also out there are apps for Myspace.

While there are apps out there which use the LED light as a torch, Flashon is my personal favourtie (and almost a secret because no one I know has this app - yet... for now.. lepas ni tatau la).

Instead of just the sodih punya LED, it turns on the blinding flash for the Blackberry Onyx into a torchlight. Good for those moments in the dark. Yes, your phone has multiple uses.

This free version of BeBuzz rocks! You know that blinking red LED that lights up everytime you get a call/missed call/message?

Change the colour NOW! To every colour possible. It basically allows you to use that function. Tak caya, tengok buktinya in the video below. Abaikan kejinjangan Onyx aku with the disco function. Heh... trust me... it's a display of the colours available.

Aku pasang disco light for the call-in function. And set white for missed call. But customize it how you wish.

This is a miracle app. If you misplace your phone, even if it's on silent, you can now find it with this app. Likewise kalao kena kebas (tapi harapan tetap tipis la nak recover).

What it does is link to your emails associated with your Blackberry. All you have to do if you can't find your phone, is send an email to the address associated with your phone and it will go crazy.

The full version siap ada GPS nak detect your phone but the free is enough I think, especially kekadang letak phone entah mana terlupa.

I use to have something like this on my Nokia. This works like a charm. Though I don't know why this is missing a whitelist, but the blacklist itself is good. Basically it can block out private numbers, numbers not in your contacts or all calls if you wish or just any idiots harassing you.

Amik ko.

PS - Pada kengkawan, I know how this app works, so jangan pepandai nak block aku lak. Matilah ko!

So that's among the apps I can share. Do you have a favourite? If you do, share it with me! Nanti aku kongsikan ada app lain dalam phone aku. Banyak sangat...

Fancy a stick of satay?

Tadi gi Pavilion. Masa nak carik tempat makan, spotted this familiar face. Dak keja tempat jual satay tuh. Macam kenal... tapi sapa ek pekerja kat tempat tuh?

Korang cam tak?

Mai usha dekat sikit sapa pekerja yang moka cam kenal yang ala ala tengah curi tulang nih. Now do you recognize him?

Sapa tak kenal sila hantuk pala pada PC atau laptop (takde insurance tuh takyah... tak mampu aku nak bayar tuk whatever injuries ko sustain kang).

Fahrin da keja kedai satay ke? Ramai lah yang nak melantak satay kalao betol. Ni pon aku tweet pic ni pon da ada yang message dan BBM kata kalao betol nak storm the shop teruih. Kata kau...!!!

Heh... actually tadik Fahrin wat gathering makan-makan bersama fans dia off fan page Facebook dia kat Serai Satay Bar kat Pavilion. Sporting gila siap nak hidang bagai ek, siap pakai apron semua. Merasalah... advertising sungguh untuk Serai Satay Bar yang sedap sangat... katanya... walaopon...

All in all after abih spent some time kat Pavilion, met some friends, resisted the urge to shop (berjaya!... except for a little keychain... what???? I needed it!!!) and then had dinner and headed home.

Mana taknya. Friday night, kengkawan semua konsep 'the number you have dialed is not available' walaopon sibok berjanji bagai nak rak. Dah tunggu sekor-sekor sampai tengah malam, konsep gi mampos la korang aku balik dulu. Kowser...

Esok da plan nak jejalan sikit nak carik barang, so nak make it an early night. That is after I catch up on Project Runway (also Canadian version yang Iman ala busuk stiff keras kayu bagai) as well as Idol before I sleep.

Until tomorrow...

The Doraemon syndrome

Tadik gi tengok wayang... merasalah korang mesti tak caya gi tengok cita Thailand animation.

Truth is sebenarnya gi tengok the sequel to Khan Kluay yang meletop blockbuster di Siam tuh. Sini namanya Jumbo Gajah Biru (amik ko kreatif gila title dia... enam hari enam malam tak makan minum tidur dok nak pikirkan title kerana cita ni focus pada Jumbo... seekor gajah berwarna biru)

What did I think of it.

Well, the actual animated movie itself, susah nak say anything bad about it.

Even though the animation takde tahap Pixar ke Disney, but seriously, the storytelling, the pacing of it all, the plot (though not that original, but what is in cartoons and animated features) - sungguh bagus.

I mean, when it comes to Thai films or full length features, the scoring, the storyline memang mesti tangkap leleh punya la.

I loved all one and a half hours of it.

Now here's the downside. For me at least.

Benda ni dubbing dalam Bahasa Malaysia.

Sorry lah.. but for me bab ni fail! Tiap kali ada benda dubbing masuk BM je, mesti salah kepit jadik sora ala Doraemon.

I mean, bukan tak patriotic ke apa. Kita da sedia maklum ni filem Siam. So biar je la dalam bahasa original. Subtitles, baby!

Ada member sentap ngan aku kata aku tak pikir orang yang tak suka atau tak reti baca subtitles.

Jawapan aku senang je.... learn to read.

Tak prihatin aku lak pada bebudak yang nak tengok kan? Well, all I have to say is kalao ada yang kata camtuh, then the kid in question should worry about their future more than what a talking elephant is saying. Umo berapa? Tak reti baca? THAT'S what's wrong with our education system! Literacy hado katanya.

It's not the same bila da dubbing. The emotion and intonation of speech lain. Even if you don't understand it, you feel it (merasalah ala Avatar - I feel you!). Bayangkan korang dulu tengok Nang Nak - bayangkan kalao alihsuara. Will the impact be same?

I grew up learning languages that were not my mother tongue. English, Bahasa Malaysia. So what's the problem.

Kalao da bahasa korang lemah, learn, bitches! Aku dulu belajar English pon layan min Your Language ok! Walaopon orang gelak haram aku paham memula. Lama-lama pas berkawan ngan kamus baru paham. Bahasa Malaysia lak aku belajar ngan layan lagu ok! Lagu the late Sudirman and then later masuk Febians and Gersang (matilah)

Jangan harap dok suap je. Ni la masaalah orang kita. Semua demand nak disuap je. The creativity gets zapped out. People get callous and unfeeling.

Tu yang bila tengok wayang kena have that bitch-slap effect. Intelligence is seconded to slapstick, and drama remains cliched.

Korang tengok drama Melayu biasa tau je skema kan? Orang kalao mati biasa sebab leukimia/kanser/sakit jantung. All rich Datuks and Datins wear suits and fancy dresses and an expensive date is one where dok kat kelab yang serve multicoloured drinks. No? Tengok agik...

This is all the beginnings of a bigger problem.

I remember watching the movie Caramel, a Lebanese production. Ok jer aku ngan kengkawan menghayati filem tuh walaopon layan subtitles. Selama ni korang tengok filem Hindustan, bayangkan sora Shah Rukh Khan digantikan pelakon sini? Feel tak? That's how I feel bila layan Spongebob Squarepants versi dubbing. EEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

Sapa tak paham aku meroyan apa, takpe.

Walaopon aku tak paham Mandarin ke Cantonese (cause aku cakap Hokkien je... lain ok!), aku tengok cita Cina pon layan subtitles gak... ok jek.

So I really hate this dubbed shit.

But if you wanna numb yourself, go watch this movie. The movie itself is SO WORTH watching, just sabar je la bab dubbing (kecuali kalao korang memang tak kisah then leh layan la). Me? I just heaved a sigh of relief when Akim and Mila stopped singing (bukan sebab tak bagus tapi tak feel) and enjoyed when the Thai version of the song came on.

Unlike many, I am looking online for the translation so enjoy it more AFTER the movie.

Ok ok.. cukup meroyan. Pas abih layan wayang, gi ler ngan kengkawan makan kat Uptown. Slalu Hartamas, Bangsar, Rasta... ni tukar angin sikit. Port lama aku sejak zaman abih skolah.

Tapi tak penah perasan signboard ni lak.

Tuh dia kata ko... THE TASTE CAN KILL U. Ko sanggup makan? Aku tanak!!!!!

But honestly kalao korang try Western kat gerai ni - memang can kill you. Yucks!

Kalao korang nak makan Western ko carik kedai Yazid (dekat je ngan si lanun ni). THE BEST!

Sodap... and bigger portions. Mintak black pepper sauce dia lebih ok, meka tak kedekut. And memang sedap. Rugi tak rasa.

Ok la... I need to call it a night. Layan...

PS - Yang tak paham tujuan entry ni simple je - go watch a good production like Gajah Jumbo Biru, but learn that reading subtitles is not that bad as you should be listening to emotions within the context of delivery, as well as knowing what words are delivered.

Hot dawg!

Tadik gi Ikea. It was heaven!!!! No no... didn't shop lagik. Da tahan da. Just had to pick up a few things.

Besides, cam takde nafsu da nak shopping wat sementara sebab tengah pikir nak tukar keta.

Walaopon sebenarnya keta aku ok jerk, tapi repairs are getting costly (mana taknya - Wira yang da nak masuk sekolah menengah tak lama agik - 12 tahun dah). So I been thinking about how much it will cost and all and I think it's workable.

So since I can't get my dream car (yet - and probably never will since Hummer's deal with the Chinese company fell through), so I think I found the perfect ganti for it within my range.

Nanti esok lusa aku survey... kalao ikut market price, mampu agik. So pikir pikir agik ni.

Anyway, back to Ikea. Aku smalam pas abih beli barang yang perlu tuh, mengidam sangat hot dog yang yummy sangat kat sana.

Arghhh!!! Rupanya????

Tuh dia.. da takde da. Nangis!!!! Seb baik curry puff meletop dia ada agik. But seriously, the hot dogs here were DA BOMB!!!!!

I suppose Ikea finally removed it after all the bad press about the halal issue, walaopon penah kuar paper the supplier punya Halal certification setakat expired but there was no pork found (walaopon berlambak email dan forum dan blog yang kompang otherwise). Tatau la aku missed a news article or two ke, meka yang miss. (CLICK HERE for the one I read)

Anyway, nak continue perusing some ads for cars.

Or any of my readers wanna sell me their ride? Tapi make sure worth it ek! I personally like nice sporty 4WD (think Nissan Frontier) or any car that's convertible (kecuali kalao Proton Saga ko gi potong bumbung sendiri - tu aku tanak!).

Heh... going off now. Ciao!

PS - Catching up on Project Runway Canada. Iman hazab!!! Kayu nak mampos! Heidi rocks anytime.

Chew on this

Wow.. laju gila da masuk the third month of the year. It's crazy how time just zooms past.

Hari ni gi opis wat keja sikit, clear kan stok tertangguh sat. Also settled a couple of errands in my schedule.

Sorting out timetable aku bagai. Aduh... so many things to do still, tapi kemalasan mula menyerang. Stakat ni lom mengalah, but there are a few things I have to put to paper that I haven't gotten about to.

Aku nak pastikan my own company ada dua major events this year, so kena get cracking now. it's March already!!!! Shit!

Didn't do much later in the day. Malam sikit lepak kengkawan borak. Also spoke to someone who represents a body in the music industry.

Sedikit sebanyak, kami bincang pasal wajib siar.

So many artistes stupidly - agree without thinking of the repercussions of it.

Tak paham kekadang artis Malaysia ni tak bukak minda meka tuh. Harapkan disuap segalanya.

Bukan nak menghina, tapi kalao mereka betul-betul anak seni dan pentingnya their craft (dan bukan saja royalti MACP ke PPM ke Prism) they would take proactive steps to better themselves. Bukan dengan bangga dok tahap lama, malas maju.

Hopefully kalao menjadi discussion malam tadi, ada forum akan menjadi melibatkan orang kerajaan, badan-badan muzik, media, artis dan pengurusan syarikat-syarikat rakaman Malaysia.

So many issues to thrash out.

I think the industry has to be educated.

Pandai-pandai kata pendengar kita kena di didik, tapi masyarakat muzik kita sendiri kekadang agak bodoh bila melayan isu isu berbangkit.

Artis? They don't even understand the word. Tau nak kuar majalah, nak pose sana sini jerk.

Specifically on music, Malaysia is the only country in this world yang aku rasa, many people think it's a RIGHT, suatu HAK to be on radio, not a PRIVILEGE (keistimewaan).

Ok la.. aku paham, ada stesen yang music exec dia yang hampeh feeling A&R bagai nak pepandai ceramah pasal muzik lak (walaopon sendiri takde pendedahan atau fahaman mengenai dunia muzik Malaysia nih). Nak determine the artiste's musical direction bagai. Pastu nak kekwat nak bagai tanak mainkan lagu tuh lagu nih, sehinggalah dibawak bercuti oleh pihak berkepentingan. Adakah? Oops!

Atau music exec yang tolak single artis hanya kerana 'the other station is playing it'.

Or the the best - mainkan SAMPAH yang tak capai piawaian langsung hanya kerana syarikat rakaman artis nan hado itu adalah dari anak syarikat. Aiyo.. apakah???

But on the flipside, artis ni pon leh tahan gak kekadang.

Mana taknya.

Any Thong, Dev and Harith, ada RM5,000 or so, rakam lagu, nak demand da diputarkan walaopon?

Only in Malaysia, penah model sekali, bergelar model. Penah wat satu single - bergelar penyanyi. Penah jadik extra lalu kat belakang - dah pelakon. Nan hado!!!

So many things wrong with the industry.... ramai berkepentingan.

Look at Yuna. Zee Avi. Hujan. Meet Uncle Hussain/Azlan & The Typewriter.

Meka berjaya kerana the appeal of their music, tak perlu propahan high rotation pun orang sangkut nak dengar.

Yang artis biasa bising tu yang sendu, nan hado yang memang kualiti keja MOST OF THE TIME very the NAN HADO.

Work harder. Nothing in life comes easy.. jangan nak tau merungut saja.

xFM korang tanak sokong lak walaopon mainkan 100% muzik Malaysia. Nak gak stesen lain sebab berlumba No. 1. Realize that they are number one (atau berangan so) because they PANDER to the audience.

Kalao ko rasa produk ko meletop sangat, gi je xFM. Radio lain akan mai melutut nak mainkan korang punya. Kalao betol lagu korang bagus.

Jangan melalak je orang tanak beli. Tanak layan...

Cuba korang bukak gerai nasi lemak depan umah. Kalao da lauk ko hampeh, nasi ko hangit, timun ko rosak... orang tanak beli... ko nak wat apa? Nak melalak tepi jalan kata orang kena beli gak nasi lemak ko kerana ko anak Malaysia??? That walaopon nasi lemak ko nan hado kena beli ko nya because of patriotism, rather than makan nasi ayam KFC kah?

At the end of the day, here's the real MAIN problem. Our own artistes. Mentality and attitude!

Segala tak cukup tapi feeling kuat dan hebat (ni majoriti nya pendatang baru nya hal)

Last-last? Menyemak status update Facebook aku ngan pengumuman nak jual gelang. Anak seni indeed!

Panjang lak meroyan.

Anyway, hope the forum menjadi and people come with an open mind to LEARN. Jangan berangan tahu segalanya. Life is a neverending process of learning. We only stop when we're dead.
