Muslims Must Avoid Being Totally Immersed In Facebook, Twitter - Dr Rais

SEREMBAN, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysians, especially Muslims, must avoid being totally immersed in the internet culture, especially Facebook and Twitter, said Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He added that facilities like internet cannot be accepted totally because it is a form of business introduced by the West and we are just users.

"We are not saying that they cannot use Facebook or Twitter but when using such facilities they must upkeep the values taught by Islam, Buddhism or Christianity to maintain our culture," he told reporters after opening a Seminar on the 1Malaysia concept here on Saturday.

He added that Malaysians who used internet services on social networking sites should be careful with what they see and hear.

"We must be strong in our believes and culture because the identity and image of our country depends on us. They are just selling Facebook, Twitter, L-Band and various other services, even through space, as a product but we do not do such business. We accept all this in a state of cultural shock," he said.

He chided some Malaysians who belittled those who were no savvy of the Facebook and Twitter culture.

"We should not be quick to condemn or look down on those who do not use Facebook. Newspapers are still relevant, so is Facebook, but do not be carried away with everything and disregard the old system," he said.

Rais also praised the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) for its success in tracking down a student from the National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy for posting a public safety threatening comment on Facebook about the recent spate of attacks on churches while discussing the ongoing "Allah" controversy on the popular social networking website.

"Syabas to SKMM for its action in nailing those who used Facebook, Twitter and SMS for the wrong reasons. As a former analyze of the law in the country, I wish to advise the people that they cannot escape from the law for their actions," he said.

Speaking of 1Malaysia, Rais said the Information Department had also conducted a survey on the people's understanding of the 1Malaysia concept and found 62 per cent of Malaysians understood the 1Malaysia concept.

He added that the government would initiate more programmes featuring the 1Malaysia concept, especially for students.

I know these videos were posted some time ago, I think about two years ago, but I just caught it. Kelakar nak mampos! It's the Celcom versus DiGi ones.

Personally - I still have my DiGi line tapi tak kuasa sebab servis cam lahar... just sayang sebab ramai tau that number, and malas dan tak berkesempatan nak tukar the number to another provide... and Celcom aku memang aku da terminate sebab azab (time tu.. though I hear meka da ok sikit skang)

But found the Happy Tree Friends-esque cartoons hilarious! Amik ko! Besides, I have always found the yellow DiGi man just way too freaky! So this way a nice watch...

Apart from that, didn't spend the day doing much. Sent in one article. And played games the whole day. Relaxed je.

Anyone play games on Facebook and Myspace? Here's what I'm playing at the moment. On Facebook, my current obsession is with Restaurant City. Started playing this just one week now, tapi dalam list aku of about 30 people playing da naik nombor satu. Heh!!!




Dedikasi sungguh ok main game nih! No cheats, no hacks.. hate playing games kalao pakai macro ke bot ke script ke... tak kick. Ni dok ngadap je laptop main game, ni la hasilnya.

Another game yang masih addicted, tapi kurang sikit da sebab focus Restaurant City, is My Zoo. Ni asik bertukar tempat, but usually top two or top three in my list. Ni my zoo for now.



One of the first games I used to play, tapi da malas sikit, jarang layan now, is My City. Right now, ada 340 penduduk.



Tapi game paling lama aku tahan, is over at Myspace. Mobsters for Myspace. Ni kedudukan aku. Proud to say, I'm one of the highest ranked mobsters among Malaysians (tak pakai macro ok!). If you play this, join my family - it's the CSK mob. Aku nya stats power sikit sebab sapa usik je memang mintak nahas.

Just trying to up my bounty more. Skang at 6.8 billion.




Why am I updating on this?

Sebab sambil tunggu waktu sahur, tengah main game ni semua, while waiting for my Project Runway nak download abih. Episode one of season six. Da tengok complete Little Britain (UK, tiga musim, US satu musim, Comic Relief special, Little Britain Abroad - and awaiting finishing of Little, Little Britain).

Nothing more to watch while wasting time. Weekend ni dok rumah je kot. Sebab baru start posa, member semua balik kampung, so sahur, berbuka dok umah je la.

Anyway, selamat berpuasa to all my Muslim friends out there. Wat elok elok ek!

Dragonfire!

Didn't do much the last couple of days. Needed to get out of this deep blue funk I'm in. Thankful to those who pulled me through it. You know who you are. Even though I may have pushed you away. These people are always my strength in times when things seem gloomiest.

Love all of you.

Anyway, smalam gi event bodoh. Initially supposed to gi makan malam with Sarimah and her hubby and bro. Tapi last last naik jap event bangang yang buang masa kat Ruums. Nangis jap. It was a typical berangan and boring event. Give me strength... yawn!

Dinner after that was more interesting.

Me had the Dragonfire chicken! Tapi initially masa sampai order aku, Sarimah lak kata sedap, aku pass dia share ngan Andrew. Al kisahnya when I placed another order and it came, veggie choice dia da berubah. Tetiba jadik brocolli - the worst green ever!

Dig that. They seemed to have just dumped the whole lot of brocolli on my plate camtuh jer. Yuck! Everything else was fine though. Had a relaxed and fun night. So felt a little better today.

Oh anyway, been dying to share a little news with you guys. Heard from a little birdie that... RIHANNA IS COMING TO KUALA LUMPUR!

Tunggu confirmation, but word is, she will indeed be heading to our shores.

I last met Rihanna in Bangkok in October 2006 when she opened for Jay-Z's tour.

Sebelum zaman Umbrella and Please Don't Stop The Music aku da gilakan dia da because of Pon De Replay.

She is absolutely gorgeous in person, and I think she has gotten more chic since those days. Am so looking forward to meeting her again.
I have no further news on the exact date, because all I can say is at the moment, they still finalising the details - and hopefully some local authority won't have a gerbil up his ass about her performing.

Her performance the last time about wasn't the best vocal show, but she was just mesmerising to watch. Hey! I can deal with that! I already have the CD! I just wanna watch her stut it live again.
Dulu pun aku tengok show dia masa dia open for Jay'z Block party tour where she did about half a dozen songs je.

So wanna see her perform Disturbia live!

My for me is a place where entertainment journalists, artists and other people in the industry and such can get together and just let their hair down. Aku bukan sombong tanak add, sebab banyak requests aku ignore so far.
