Awmigawddddd!!!! It was such a blast!

Thank you to all my friends who showed up for the Malay Mail Relaunch Party!

Firstly an announcement. One of the many that will come concerning the Malay Mail in the next few months.

Step one. Beginning tomorrow.. kira today la - hari Khamis bersamaan 26 November, The Malay Mail is back in its original form (syukur!) with the tagline of The Paper That Cares and will be FREE!!!

Yes, we are the second paper to go free, but content wise akan bertambah meletop!

Circulation pon meledak gituh ke 100,000.

Dan ini baru step one. Tunggu pengumuman lain.. aku tanak jump the gun, tapi sebagai orang dalam, a media revolution is beginning, and the investors and backers are going all out to prove something we've always known... that The Malay Mail has what it takes.

For those yang berminat nak tau, my column, Hear, Say... will no longer be on Thursdays, but on Tuesdays.

Now that I'm done with the announcements, I want to thank so many people (feeling Grammy acceptance).

First to Marion Caunter and Zainal Alam Kadir - my emcees for the night, thank you so much for going crazy and making sure everyone had fun.

Secondly to Atilia and Ning Baizura. Two of the best entertainers around who got the party started, and kept it going with their fantastic voices.

Thirdly, and as importantly, a big THANK YOU to all my friends who showed up. I love you guys. So many of you, sorry kalao miss any names.

To the Celepets (nama gelaran kumpulan vogue) in Dynas, Sazzy Falak, Yasmin Hani... Vanessa Chong, Anita Sarawak and hubby abang Mahathir (siap kansel ke Singapore for job tuk be there for me... awwwwwww), Mawi dan Ekin, Audi Mok and Nikki, Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina, Datuk Seri Farid Ridzuan, hot couple Vanidah Imran dan Rashidi Ishak, Nur Aliah aka the other Vee and her hubby to be (hensem dan baik orangnya), Rina Omar, Saerah, Fatimah Abu Bakar and hubby (anak anak, si Nani and gang tak dapat mai sebab kena conjunctivitis!), Dayang Nurfaizah (sedap lagu baru dia, Sayang, yang dia bagi dengar... I like!), Jaclyn Victor (walaopon lambat sebab rushing ada hal)... aduh ramai aku tau aku tak sempat senaraikan semua, but thank you sangat sangat to all these people who came because I so wanted them there and personally invited them.

Juga pada kengkawan dari TV3 dan gak Astro. Love you guys. Kita sambung carut mencarut pasni ek sebab Anugerah Juara Lagu dan Akademi Fantasia 8 da nak start (matilah aku... heh!)

I missed some like Fahrin (tak sempat balik flight ke), Aizat (mana ni???), Aishah Sinclair (tak sempat so tak complete kumpulan Celepets), Daphne Iking (ni sorang agik Celepets tapi MIA), Umie Aida (ada rehearsal pementasan Natrah), Sarimah Ibrahim (tak sempat balik kot pas shooting ujung ujung Biggest Loser Asia), Linda Onn (gi preview Full Moon sebab da janji) Nora Danish (shooting) and Datuk Siti Nurhaliza (walaopon kak Rozie kata try singgah tak nampak pon... sedih aku). Ada other yang tak dapat mai gak... tapi nak wat pe...

All of you who were there, thank you again for supporting the paper, and also personally, me, as a friend.

More choreography sessions into the middle of the night... pening.

Tapi at least siang tadi best. In the evening went for the launch of A Cut Above at BSC. They launched their biggest outlet yang one stop beauty center, which is like major celeb-junkie rehab plot sebab kalao korang nak sangat tengok artis - gi wat rambut sana, mesti dapat tengok muka muka familiar.

The launch was uber fun cause so many friends there.

Tapi dapat la reconnect ngan yang lama tak jumpa. Ning was there, so caught up a bit. Nikki wat show, and she's improved on her vocals and her performance.

Sesi borak ngan Hani, Atilia dan Noryn yang ketiga-tiganya ting tong.

And the best thing is - all the ladies are headed for the Beyonce concert too, so yes, they are going to be part of the flashmob as well. Yes!! Meka akan join our training session sebab they don't have the time or will gituh nak practise with the instrutional video kang.

Atilia siap kata hyped on All The Single Ladies, merasalah down bila aku kata we changed our performance tune. Heh.... korang layan pics dulu ek.

Hari ni memang hari yang indah!

Matilah statement happy tak menentu.

Actually happy for a few reasons. Work is going ok, I'm a little relaxed (tapi masih tengah perah otak nak conceptualise two more events, selain some other projects yang need that extra boost of creative juice).

Tadik, gi buka puasa kak Nita. Sekali launching single dan music video lagu Raya dia, Maafkan. It's pretty good. Leh layan la gak. Especially since it's been a long time since kak Nita da tak wat lagu ballad camnih, Throwback to the old Anita Sarawak pre-Seksis/Ular etc.

The song is written by Helen Yap, with lyrics by Johan Nawawi and Haslan something or other. I forget...

Abang Johan bak kak Nora sekali. Lama tak meet her da. I think the last time we met was sometime semifinal Muzik Muzik, which was late last year. My memory fails me to recollect a specific time.

Kengkawan ramai pon hadir, so kinda fun. Actually ada satu lagi majlis buka puasa, bersama Leya, yang nak show her babies. Aduh... susah time camnih, torn between work dan kengkawan.

So sorry Leya, and family. Couldn't make it on time.

Wasn't all bad though, sebab dengan kehadiran ramai kengkawan, it reminded me why I love my job.

Things may get stressful, but when you're out to work - you actually can have fun... unlike other jobs.

But satu lagi benda yang wat assignment ni, erm... menarik, adalah tarikan pada seseorang yang ada time tu. Ya ampun.. kenapa muka dia mirip seseorang yang pernah aku gilakan tahap gaban! Heh... dari Makati rupanya. Filipino!!! Filipino!!! Bebot Bebot!!!

When it was all over, headed back early. Started packing. Ada short trip besok. Will be back on Sunday. Tapi janji memang seronok, walaopon nama je tuk keja.

Esok, will travel about 5 hours or so, from Kuala Lumpur - masuk hutan belantara untuk shooting filem baru. Memang aku tak penah gi tempat ni, but have heard so much about it.

Korang tunggu je la aku post update, though I doubt ada Internet connection (memandangkan aku da tak pakai mobile broadband da). Won't stop me from trying though.

Pay day!

Today was a good day!

Pay day! It's been a year plus since dapat regular pay cheque susah nak percaya. Back to makan gaji! Sort of... since I still have my own outfit to run. So, this is like the basics, and the rest I earn is more of loose change (and for the folks, as well as savings and a little extra shopping)

But apart from that, hari ni berbuka kat event Astro.

Majlis untuk unveil the programming by Astro channels for the Raya period. Banyak wo! Some kelakar tak kena.. but some really good.

Ni some pics of the event. Sapa nak lepas rindu kat Mawi dan Datuk Siti Nurhaliza sebab da lama aku tak update about them, here they are, along with some other pics I snapped.

The best part was bumping into kak Nita and hubby abang Mahathir sebab da lama tak jumpa meka. They make me feel so good because they always talk about my column. Bangga la ada diva cam dia ni, puji hasil kerja. Anyway, had a good chin wag with them, and the rest was more to santai.

Memula nak disaster sikit sebab the outdoor event tu kena pindah indoors sebab hujan. Ada orang lupa ke nak upah khidmat bomoh hujan? But all in all - despite the cramped conditions and all - it was fun still.

Aku tak kisah la sebab aku selama ni kunci mulut kalao aku dok kat dalam ketika Akademi Fantasia, so sebab takde rasa feeling of guilt, ada aku kisah? Kan! So aku pon tak kisah kalao orang nak tuduh ke fitnah.

Tapi yang aku sakit hati, binatang tuh ni dok perli aku. Aku wat bodoh je lah. Benda camni kang melayan lagik menjadi. Batal niat posa seharian. Eh... erm... anyway, I think some people kan, seriously threatened by me, sampai they just find it easier to bitch than try and improve themselves.

Oh whatever... dalam hidup ni, berkali kali aku jumpa da orang camni. Wat bodoh je... kita keja keras dengan ikhlas, God willing, adalah hasilnya. Besides, as I always say, karma will take its course.

Wat baik ngan orang pun camni.. huh.

Anyways, lepak sampai tengah malam tuh! Da habis event layan kuih muih borak ngan Aishah, Chi dan Metra. Ngumpat.. eh.. berborak je keja. Tak lupa kak Izan pon join. Merasalah dia kena carot je. Heh! Ampun kak Izan!

Inspired!

Semalam at midnight, half of the Pelita gang joined up. Ramai la anggota missing lke bebudak 6ixth Sense, Jue, Faz sebab memasing either busy or away. But yesterday was another KEPITA's member punya harijadi. But there was Bob, As, Juan and I, and Syuib a little later, along with Tom and Iejan.

So to Mr Syarol, happy 16th birthday... again (what is it...the twelfth time now?).

Something about those cherries and candle...


Bob ketepi sikit tak tahan bahang api dari banyak-banyak lilin yang menghiasi kek... biasa la nak celebrate birthday orang umur.. erm... 16...

Aku sebenarnya rushing gila. Was from the Mont Kiara area for a get-together do, hosted by Anita Sarawak and husband Mahathir.

Thank you kak Nita and abang Mahathir ingat aku ek, walaopon officially aku nih bukan Press lagik, your constant words of support and encouragement memang something I keep with me, especially in times when I don't even believe in myself.

Anyway, I titled this entry inspired... cause dari hari tuh after watching Quarantine, something ran through my mind.

I've always known I love horror movies, and I love to be scared. Walaopon aku nih konsep ESPN (bimbo sangat kan - not you Saniboey....) and can erm... 'feel' things and often get more scared of things in real life. Oh never mind if you don't know.

Anyway, dari hari tuh, aku mulling over an idea for a horror movie. And the past couple of days, been sorting out the idea. Got to do some research for background and all, but I'm totally inspired at the moment sebab banyak sangat ideas flowing.

God willing, the TV show yang lahir from my little idea that grew bigger and bigger will (kalau takde aral melintang) go on air mid next year. And if everything goes well, who knows... I've already checked with a friend dan meka sound interested to hear my horror movie idea, hopefully slotted for 2009.

Worried sikit pasal censorship sebab biasa la negara kita nih tuh takleh nih takleh. Have you noticed our horror movies are all so... erm.. contrived.

I mean... they don't know how to psychologically get viewers to freak, and they can't show gore...

So that's my major challenge now. Bab censorship, will cross that bridge when I get to it. Maybe I can make censorship work in my favour. Is that possible? Well if you believe even a kids show has potential potty language threat like the video below, anything is possible kan?

I had a good laugh.. hope you guys did too. Will never look at Sesame Street in the same light again. Now back to writing...

Queens and diva wannabes

This entry aku nak start straight (matilah ko apa gelak gelak) ngan carutan Diari Akademi Fantasia hari ketiga bahagian satu dan dua. The day started with the kids being told that sapa yang tak follow rules akan kena denda.

And one major misdemeanour is not taking off the mic pack they're wearing when they go to the loo. Who wants to hear them pee, right? I say it's a punishable offence pun kan.. kan.. kan?

Yana the first yang kena. Sentap ok kena denda basuh semua pinggan bebudak.

"Rosak ker?"

Aiyo... very the PMS tau. Rileks la... basuh pinggan jerk. Tak kisah la mic pack tuh rosak ke tak. You broke a rule ma!

Me? Dishes?

In Syafie's class. I'm assuming kelas nih semua sempat bangun awal pagi sebab semua nampak elok sikit... takde lah cam beberapa hari nih yang moka memasing tak mandi jerk.

Nenek Rina practise Simply The Best. Honestly kan, dia nih ok, just I don't see how realistically dia leh fit in the industry. Bukan nak kata orang yang umur lanjut sikit nih takleh go far - it's just no one at 44 has ever just started their career in this business. Will she be the first? I don't get any extra buzz about her nak kata she can. Should she go this week? Sebab sakit kaki and all.

Well honestly - no.

More characters are appearing slowly yang lebih menjengkelkan perangai. But we'll get to that later.

Most of the kids are really doing quite well, alau nak banding musim musim lepas.

Lufya nih horrific sikit. She reminds me to much of a karaoke competition contestant kat Plaza MPK.

Ika? Aiyo... berterabur. Camna meka leh lepaskan budak cam dia nih.
Lagu Umbrella dianggap berat? Yeah, we're sure. So much for looking for a singer.

Aku paham bab abang Ramli cakap this week nih lagu bebudak ni lagu semua lagu cari makan sebab not fully testing the kids yet... tapi... entahlah. Kalau camnih si Ika nak jadik penyanyi apa?

Genervie's class lak. The first so far.. I don't understand why they showed so little of it. Orang tengah ajar pasal pick-p si Riz wat moka toya, jawab "paham cikgu" nada sarcastic gituh and then ngan moka hadek hadek berangan laser ngan bebudak lain, "tatau dia ajar apa".
Cikgu pun leh ngumpat ek...

What the.... macam haram sekor sekor masuk nih da mula berangan. Gen tuh pengalaman dia as an international musician, meka rasa da hebat ker sampai tenaga pengajar pun leh meka pandang cam tak layak ajar meka?

Bab Ika aku mungkin leh maapkan lagik - but si Riz ni memang da start nampak dia true colours berangan tak abih. Memang pain in the ass...

Speaking of which four of the girls got butt jabs of the less enjoyable variety. Stacy aku paling nak gelak sebab siap menjerit kena jab twice. Heh.. cute tol dia.

Linda's workout was a relief sebab tak stress ngan perangai bebudak sekor dua yang busuk tuh.
Masuk Diari kedua. Lufya lak gedik. Actually I don't know whether to blame her or not - tapi dia dan si Ika ala kesentapan with each other.

Matilah ko mintak nak repair mata ko tuh. Ever heard of contacts?

Yana kena marah sebab bebudak lain slow motion nak bugger off the dining area - and dia tak sempat nak clear up their mess.

In umi Fauziah's class, she taked to the kids about what they were doing before this.
Here dapat my faves Alif and Saida some camera time sikit. I hope they don't get too much air time sebab tanak la meka cam sekor dua tuh publicity murahan jer. Biar meka get camera time for something substansial.

Toi, Rina, Nadia... ramai cakap pasal menyanyi for a living.

Bila bab Nubhan kata dia keja bank - tertanya aku dia ni keja eksekutif bank betol ke... keja security. Moka dia... erm.. someone get the grooming brigade in!

There's something quite interesting about Nadia - and with those few moments, she really is starting to emerge. She may just make my list of favourites, cause like my real faves now in Saida, Stanly, Stacy and Alif, dia pun nampak ada something interesting overall. Besides... I remember her masa KL audition. I actually sat through her stage three interview process. And I remember her voice. So I guess that means something...

Merasalah masa kak Nita sebut not not wanting another Anita or Siti, Saida da tersengih. Aduh... kesian dia. Takleh lari nama adik dia. It's going to be so difficult for her to be judged on her own merit. Mesti ada jer perbandingan which is quite unfair sebab none of the other kids are compared to anyone else.

Faisal (who needs work on his teeth) ni moka cam pengawas sekolah ganas, tapi depan kak Nita tau lak seram ek. Heh...

Rush ke event Bouquet of Stars Astro kat Gardens at MidValley yang akan menampilkan the previous Akademi Fantasia champions, Zahid, Mawi, Faizal dan Mia in a Secretaries Week show with Anita Sarawak, and helmed by Aznil Nawawi. Fun gila.. dapat catch up ngan my baby bro Zahid pas haven't seen hin for a while.

Gatal biji sebenarnya nak try naik - tapi segan. Bukak molot tanya gak kakak tuh leh pinam tak... but jokingly la. Dia pun gelak je la.

Ujibakat Akademi Fantasia 6 - Day 1

Hari dah tiba! The search begins again! By noon I was in Astro for the first day, of the first round of auditions for Akademi Fantasia.

Kali nih lebih sistematik. Takde cam tahun tahun lepas ramai sangat orang ala ala funfair, sebab meka yang da register diberikan lebih kurang, masa meka akan diaudition atau di beritahu akan di call kalao lama lagik time ujibakat meka. Kan bagus camtuh.

Kali nih, seperti before, ada Team A dan Team B. Semua peserta dibahagi dua kumpulan, dan diadili dua set of judges. Untuk peringkat kedua, iaitu ujian vocal, the judges are; Team A, Ajai dan Deja Moss dan Team B, Syafi dan Ogy.

Peringkat keempat patutnya ada Team A dan Team B gak, tapi sebab semalam tak ramai yang layak ke stage nih, so I guess meka save time and gabungkan jerk judges of Team A and B.

Judges for this stage adalah Marlia Musa, Fatimah Abu Bakar and Baha from Maestro. tatau la esok camna.

Lokasi lain, akan mempunyai judges lain - especially Sabah dan Sarawak sebab clash of dates. Dengar antaranya Ida Nerina pun akan jadi judge tau.

Peringkat 1 - Pendaftaran


Ada syle lah! Walaupun zoom sebatu - tetap maintain pose!

Sarimah sempat pose tuk aku in the midst of kekecohan audition. Judges Team B peringkat 2 - Syafie dan Ogy.

Inilah ruang ujibakat Team B.


Antara yang mencuba nasib. Ada yang lepas ke peringkat 3, ada yang tak. Yang baju merah tu umur 42 tahun. Last dok posing tuh Raja Fouzeel, executive producer Akademi Fantasia kali nih.


Dalam tension telinga berdarah dan bernanah sempat pose. Kali nih kad hijau ke merah digunakan kalao ada mechanical failure jerk. Selain tuh lampu kat tengah tuh ler dipakai.

Judges peringkat 3 - Baha, kak Fati dan kak Marlia.


Sorang umur 41, anak tujuh ke haper, sorang agik umur 44 anak sorang cucu dua. Perlu ke?


Ingat tak sorang yang posing kat pic di atas? RUpanya one half kembar tuh. Meka berdua layak ke peringkat 3.


'Ibnor Riza' pun layak ke peringkat ketiga.


Saerah muncul lewat petang sikit.


Akma bukan masuk lagik ek. Kebetulan ada jer di situ.
