Went to Laundry to check out Najwa's acoustic set. Kalau korang tak penah tengok dia live, or stakat tengok dia masa konsert mingguan Akademi Fantasia ke Shout! Award, trust me, you haven't seen her perform.

First time aku tengok dia perform bebetul her own set masa Malam Nada Biru ngan Yuna. I was so blown away and became and instant fan.

There is so much soul is Najwa - it's not just about her sexy, silky vocals.

There is so much expression in her voice alone that it's mind-blowing!

Dia tweet je kat Laundry wat rehearsal - aku pas abih keja ngan member, jumpa Atilia kat Laundry and chilled out there just to watch her set. Tak banyak lagu - dalam setengah jam je, so sedih la sikit.

But it was a good night, and every time I see her perform live, I am so invigorated. Bersemangat nak berkreatif tengok bakat camni.

My love

I want to say so many things.

But one thing I want to get off my chest because some people don't seem to understand this part of me.

I love music. Period.

I remember masa kecik, mak bapak aku nya koleksi jadi mangsa. From Elvis to Englebert Humperdinck, from Tom Jones to The Platters. Pastu first artis Malaysia aku beli dan layan hampir kesemua album - was Sudirman.

Masa tu Bahasa Malaysia ku tunggang langgang belajar la dari lagu.

Zaman sekolah, from Top 40, malam-malam dengar radio nak tidur - suka lagu kapak - Febians, BPR, Ekamatra, Search, Wings, Ilusi, May... sampai la ke lagu Rohayu Majid dan Nassier Wahab. Matilah, random gila kan taste aku.

From there I started listening to everything I could get my hands on. And I saved and saved tuk beli kaset original. Dari Ning ke Siti - even KRU (heh!) I had all the cassettes. Walaupon kekadang nak ikat perut demi nak beli nih...

Dapat je CD player - beli CD lak. Lagik la ikat perut.

Sampai abih sekolah - I knew I loved music a lot, learning to listen to all genres. And I mean ALL genres.

Pastu sebab minat - amik la Sound and Audio Engineering. Aku da abih semua subject and would have grad - cuma dua main subject aku, Principles of Recording dan Generalk Audio aku dapat C and C+. Where I needed a B to get my diploma.

Sebab keluarga aku bukan keluarga senang, aku decided nak keja terus - dan rezeki ku pada bidang penulisan pas keja jaga audio systems at a karaoke.

Bottomline is - I got involved in music out of love. I lost my love for music for a while... sebab nothing local attracted me. Nothing fresh... nothing new.

Until album Tribute P Ramlee - Indiepretasi came out. Then I started getting excited once again - with Najwa, Yuna especially.

The point of this story?

That I love music a LOT!

And walaupun hari ni aku banyak dapat CD free - kalau ada album aku suka - aku masih beli. Kalau ada filem tempatan aku nak sokong, aku tetap bayar tuk tengok.

Atas tu - koleksi CD dari Sony Music baru dapat. Heh... got some essential listening to complete, and just wanted to share a long winded story about how much I love music that I came into this world - bukan sebab nak gila glamer ke gila artis.
